“Emma is only 26. She had a financial problem last time, so she worked at the nightclub.”
Dillon walked out of the bar with a walking stick.
Seeing that, Emma hurriedly helped him and blamed, “The doctor reminded you to rest well.”
“OK. OK.”
Dillon nodded at her.
Robin glanced at them. He wasn’t dull, so he could tell something was happening between the two. However, he didn’t want to get involved, as it was their own business.
However, compared to Sofia, Robin preferred Emma more.
If Dillon and Emma could be together, it would be good news.
“Who is he?” Dillon asked Robin about the man behind.
Once he walked out of the bar, he noticed Doug.
“Please call me Doug,” Doug actively replied.
“Boss asked me to guard your bar.”
“You looked indeed experienced. May I call you Mr. Doug?”
Dillon wasn’t a fool. Instead, he was brilliant. Otherwise, he wouldn’t have run the bar so successfully, although it was the first time he opened a bar.
After exchanging a few words with Doug and his men, Dillon got along well with them.
If he hadn’t met Sofia, he would have had a promising life.
“Let’s get in. I did some remodeling in the past two days.”
Dillon showed Robin and others in. After entering the bar, Robin could tell the evident differences. It looked full of Zen.
“The decoration was done by Sofia before. I disliked the style. This time, I changed it. This makes the bar high-end. I also rethought the future plan…”
After all, Dillon was brilliant. He had a new business plan in the past two days.
While they were chatting, more than ten men entered the bar. Scar was in the lead. He glanced around and remarked, “Oh, you have a new decoration. That’s fast! Ready for us to smash again?”
“Scar, this bar is under our protection now.”
Doug stood out.
“My subordinates told me a group of gangsters showed up. I wondered who you were. It turned out to be you, Doug. Are you fucking out of your mind?”
Scar looked at him in disdain.
He knew Doug had longed to join Lamonia Security Company but didn’t have the qualification. Lamonia Security Company turned Doug down several times. However, much to Scar’s surprise, Doug had the guts to provoke Lamonia Security Company.
He wondered if Doug had a death wish.
“I’m not going to fight with you. I’m here to protect this bar. If you want to make trouble, you cannot blame me for being rude.”
Doug tilted his neck, letting out clicks.
“Humph! What can you do?”
Scar walked up to Doug and flexed his fingers, working the stiffness from his knuckles. He was sure Doug wasn’t so bold to hit him.
However, the next second, a punch was thrown at his face.
“Damn it!”
Scar reacted and wanted to dodge.
However, his leg was hit by something and became numb for some reason. He couldn’t move at all.
Then he fell to the ground with a loud bang.
Doug’s punch was thrown at Scar’s face fiercely.
Scar failed to dodge.
Doug wasn’t simple as he could have gained his current status. His punch made Scar fall a few yards away, and the latter spat blood.
“Boss!”
Scar’s men hurriedly rushed to help him.
“Damn it!”
Scar covered his face, lying on the ground. His chin was broken. Gazing at Doug, he snapped, “Wait and see, bastard! Let’s go.”
The other gangsters took Scar away.
“Did you help me, Boss?”
Doug turned to look at Robin.
“Right. Just a small trick,” answered Robin.
He let Doug protect the bar to avoid making a fuss or attracting Dexter’s attention.
Before the investigation was done, Robin didn’t want to alert his enemy.
Besides, it was a matter of the underworld. Scar and Doug were on the same level and had similar power. Scar wouldn’t inform his coworkers in Lamonia Security Company for help because of his dignity.
Once he informed others to help him, he couldn’t convince his subordinates.
Robin’s words shocked Doug, as he didn’t know what Robin had done to stiffen Scar’s body. Then Doug could have the chance to hit him.
He realized Robin wasn’t influential only but also had a horrible force.
However, Doug believed it was a rare opportunity for him.
From then on, Doug worked in the bar as the security guard. After all, a bar was chaotic, so Doug must guarantee its safety.
As long as the bar was safe, girls would go to the bar, attracting male patrons.
That was the correct way to run a bar.
The following day, Robin went to Elise’s warehouse, which had been transformed into a new office building.
“Landview Inc.?”
Robin saw the company logo at the entrance, wondering why his wife liked the word “land” THAT much.
“Hello, Ben, Peter,” Robin greeted the two old security guards.
He couldn’t afford to offend the elders, who got low pay but were efficient in guarding.
“Hello,” the two old men greeted him in response. Robin could tell they had almost lost all their teeth.
Once entering, Robin saw Elise. She wore a white blouse and a pair of black, tight trousers. Her hair was coiled up, making her look professional and overbearing.
Robin found Elise look aloof at work, like a domineering CEO.
“Honey,” he called her.
“Why are you here?” Elise was surprised to see him as she didn’t expect him to go there.
“As I said a few days ago, I have an engineer friend. He’s on the way. I arrive early to check on you.”
Elise looked calm upon hearing his words.
She didn’t want to expose his lie to humiliate him. A doctor’s degree holder from the University of Aappitat was rare. She didn’t think Robin could find one in Stillwater.
“By the way, I always wonder why you like the word ‘land’ so much?”
Robin recalled his question.
Elise named her companies Lands Corporation and Landview Inc., so he noticed her unique preference.
“It’s my secret,” Elise answered, unwilling to tell Robin.
However, she added, “If you successfully make me love you one day, I’ll tell you.”
