The man’s words were like a bombshell. All people on the scene gaped, and silence blanketed the nightclub. Under such a circumstance, they didn’t think Scar’s men would lie.
It meant Louis lost.
Gambling Master’s apprentice was defeated.
No one could believe it.
“Impossible!” Louis looked unconvinced and walked up to check his points.
After checking several times, he only saw six points in total. Scratching his hair, he muttered, “It shouldn’t be. How could I have just a one, a two, and a three? I should get 17 points.”
Then he looked over at Robin’s dice cup. “You didn’t shake your dice up at all. How come your dice became one, two, and four? Yours should be one, one, and two. Why?”
Louis was dumbfounded. He lost.
“Mr. Cook, it seems you’ve encountered an opponent about your equal,” Scar remarked, exhaling some smoke.
Honestly speaking, he had never expected Robin to defeat Louis. After all, Louis had never been defeated in the past ten years.
After calming down, Louis raised his head to gaze at Robin. “I’ve underestimated you, brat. Let’s play another game. How about the five-card stud? That’s the one I’m best at.”
He couldn’t care about his dignity at this moment.
Louis was sure that Robin had cheated when shaking the dice. However, he didn’t catch Robin red-handed, so it could only be counted as Robin’s technique. That was one rule in gambling. Louis didn’t find out how Robin had cheated.
“Wait a moment,” Robin said, raising his hand.
“Why? Are you scared?”
Louis stared at him, lifting an eyebrow.
“Not really. I don’t want to play one round for 200, 000 dollars. After all, I owed Scar 600, 000 dollars.”
“How much do you want to gamble for one round?”
“Two million dollars,” Robin answered in a calm tone.
However, his words shocked others. “Two million dollars a round? My goodness! He’s indeed bold. It’s a lot of money.”
“I didn’t expect someone to defeat Mr. Cook today.”
“I believe Mr. Cook didn’t take it seriously earlier. As you know, Mr. Cook wasn’t most good at dice. He’s adept at playing five-card stud the most, just like his master.”
The onlookers discussed again, and most of them believed Louis would win.
“Two million dollars for a round…”
Louis narrowed his gaze at Robin.
The nightclub made a net profit of 200 million dollars a year. Louis didn’t expect Robin to be so greedy, wondering if Robin had the confidence to win against him.
“No problem. I agree,” Louis agreed, feeling annoyed.
He didn’t take it seriously in the previous game, so he lost. He was best at playing the five-card stud, so he was confident of winning.
“Scar, is my life worth two million dollars now?”
Robin looked over at Scar.
“Of course,” Scar nodded.
Louis was the best gambler in his nightclub, so he treasured Louis greatly. Once Robin lost this round, Scar would force him to make at least a two-million-dollar profit to pay the debt.
If he won, Scar wouldn’t let him take the money away. It was never easy to earn money from him.
“The rules of the five-card stud here are simple. We both have 400, 000-dollar chips. We’ll play for half an hour. When the time ended, the one who has more chips wins the game,” Scar walked to the two and announced.
Then he flicked his hand at a blonde, hot-looking dealer.
“This is a dealer I hired from Cuerbaro. She’s professional.”
Scar walked aside with a cigarette between his lips to watch the game.
The dealer didn’t use the current cards on the table. Instead, she tossed them into a trash bin and fetched a new pack of cards. Then she showed others to ensure she didn’t cheat.
All the onlookers could see the cards clearly.
After confirming nothing was wrong, she skillfully shuffled the cards and cut the deck under everyone’s gaze. Then she looked over at Robin and Louis to ask if she should start dealing.
“Ehn.”
Both men nodded at her in response.
Then the dealer quickly picked up each card with her flexible fingertip and finished dealing the cards shortly after.
Five-card stud wasn’t complicated. The victory depended on the combination of the five cards. In the beginning, each player would get a trump card, which would be shown at the end of the game. Only the player could see his or her trump card during the game.
When the second card was dealt, the player with the better card could stake. Other players could chip in, raise, or discard.
Those were the regular rules for more than two players. Currently, only Robin and Louis were playing in the round, so the rules were more straightforward, but the game was more exciting than usual.
The five-card stud had a fast pace and was exciting, so it relied on the players’ mental stability. Sometimes, players with good cards might be defeated by those with bad cards behaving aggressively during the game.
Sweat oozed in Louis’ hands. He looked tense, but a trace of excitement appeared in his eyes. He was the most adept in playing five-card stud.
Back then, his master won over several billion dollars through playing five-card stud.
After the trump cards were dealt, the dealer started to deal the second one.
Neither Robin nor Louis checked their trump cards earlier. Especially, Louis didn’t lower his head at all. He looked clinical and mysterious, showing he had everything in control.
However, after receiving the second card, Louis moved.
Right after his second card fell, he reached out and flicked the card gently. The card fell on his trump card seamlessly.
From his single movement, others could tell he was a skillful gambler and deserved his fame.
“I’m impressed by Mr. Cook. Amazing! I almost missed it.”
“None of us can do it.”
“I still believe Mr. Cook will win this round. Definitely!”
The onlookers talked to each other in low voices.
The second card could be disclosed to the onlooker. Louis lowered his head and saw a wild card, which could be used as the one to score the highest point as well as the lowest point.
He was lucky.
After the second card was dealt, it was time to stake.
“60, 000 dollars,” Louis said, stroking his beard. Then he pushed 60, 000 dollar chips to the center of the table.
