Aurora’s heartbeat skyrocketed.
She knitted her brows in fear, seeing Alpha Malik’s hardened gaze.
“Where are you coming from?” He asked curtly.
“I……” She sputtered, not knowing what to say.
Just then a voice echoes
“I sent her an errand” Nneka announced as she walked into their midst, interrupting the king from asking further. Rather, he swerved around and faced his queen.
Aurora sighed deeply, her face lit, seeing her younger sister coming to rescue her.
The acts convinced her that indeed her sister had changed, for her to come to her rescue.
“And why would you open the door for a prisoner?” The king asked with gritted teeth, clenching his fist in fury.
Waiting Impatiently for her response, he hoped she could justify her word. Looking at her face, the king knows the queen is lying, but he hopes she can justify her lies if she truly wants to save Aurora from his hands.
He didn’t know what he could do to her presently, her presence alone infuriated him, remembering how she lied and translated counterfeit for him.
“My king, the slave here translated a document for me and I need the document urgently, but after learning from her that the document is inside the maid’s quarters, I have to open the door to get me the document,” Nneka said lowly, her eyes facing down, portraying a good wife altitude to her husband, hoping he might love her submissions.
Hearing her excuse, Aurora breathed heavily because she didn’t have any documents from her.
“Where is the document?” The king turned to Aurora, expecting the document in her hands. She felt like a loser already, knowing there was no way out for her.
Her gaze narrowed down, finding the right way to fix a situation like this. She opened her mouth to speak, but she couldn’t get the right word to say, she rasped her brain, hoping to find an idea.
” This is it” Nneka brought out a book and placed it in the hands of king Malik, getting him dumbstruck. The King remained unsatisfied, he opened the book and flipped through it,
Nneka had planned everything before now, she was expecting Malik to ask for the documents, and this is the reason she brought the documents along when coming to the prison.
The book belonged to Aurora, it’s one of the reasons she hated her. Back then, in their community, she hated the fact that Aurora understood different languages, and she was always translating for their father.
Nneka and her sister Daisy had always thought their father loved her above them because of her talent. Moreover, she knows the king will believe seeing Aurora handwritten.
“Can I know the intent of the book, and the Languages, in which the original was written?” The king asked.
“My king, it’s a French book. She helped me translate the original to English, Initially, I thought the slave here was lying until she translated it, and a librarian in the palace helped me check the translation, and confirmed it to be true” The queen said humbly, her eyes sending a signaled to Aurora, informing her that she has opened a way of escape for her.
“You mean, I have a librarian in this Palace that understands French” His voice thundered. He wasn’t angry at any of them, but was angry at himself for making a fool out of himself.
He hated the fact that Aurora was the one that helped him out, even when she translated wrongly for him. He wished he had known about the librarian, at least he’s literate.
“Yes, your Highness” The queen replied with a grin on her face. She couldn’t believe her plans were working just as she planned.
“Let’s see whether the king will torture you or not, Xena after she discovered you fool him” she muttered under her breath heartily.
“Call me the librarian, I want to see him in the hall now” Alpha Malik’s voice echoed, he turned around wanting to leave, suddenly he spun around, and his gaze landed on Aurora.
His eyes full of hatred crawled from her head to toe like he was looking for something. There is something odd about her, but he can’t seem to place his hand on it.
“Why did she always remind me about the masked girl” He mumbled
“You don’t need to go back into the prison, the decision of how you will be punished will be decided after I hear from the librarian,” He said and walked away, including the guard that followed him.
A chuckled brushed Aurora’s mouth after she had confirmed that the king is no more with them. She jumped and hugged her sister tightly.
“Thank you so much, Nneka, for saving me….. Thank you…. Thank you….” She mumbled excitedly, pulling the Queen into her arms more tightening.
“When I told Morena that you will save me she didn’t believe me, but I believe in a word that says Blood is thicker than water, this is the reason I’m very confident that you will save me. You won’t be able to bear the punishment the king wanted to pass on me” She explained cheerfully.
Nneka felt uncomfortable in her embrace, she knitted her furrowed brows as Aurora hand wrapped round her, hoping she would release her.
“Anyone can come here” She whispered and Aurora released her instantly, knowing what she meant. She held her hands and smiled at her.
“Thank you so much,” She said, and Nneka let out a pretentious smirk…
“What are we sisters for?” Queen Nneka replied.
“You don’t have to worry, I have plans in my hand, the king will release you and punish the true offender,” Nneka said and Aurora let out a smile.
“Aurora….” She said and pushed, putting her in suspense.
“What is it?” She asked.
“The king still doesn’t like me but prefers his slut, please help me to make the king love me so that you can leave here on time” Nneka announced and Aurora nodded her head.
“Don’t worry, I’ll gather all the information you need to have the king to yourself” She replied, although her heart says otherwise.
“You can’t have him. I love him more than anything in this world” Her heart says to her mind, she tries shutting her mind, but it never stops, rather she continues penetrating her mind.
***********************************************
Just as Queen Nneka arrived in her chamber, she instructed her slave, Daphne, to bring water into the bathroom for her to bathe.
“My queen I thought you bathed before going out, likewise I have collected the message,” Daphne said and stretched the scroll to the queen.
She collected the scroll and unwrapped the scroll,” Go and prepare the water, I hugged a stinky person, and I want to wash her body odor off my body” She said with a disgusting tone.
“Okay” Daphne lowered her head, replied with a pouty mouth, and sauntered out.
Her eyes rested on the scroll, reading the document her father sent to her. She had wondered why her father wanted to crush her husband’s community economics.
“Why are you keeping Aurora alive, she is a ticking bomb to your reign and destruction to our community, kill her before you regret keeping her alive”
The last sentences in her father’s message, written inside the scroll, after asking how to penetrate the economy of her husband’s community. ‘ Your loyalty lies to me, your father, never forget that’ Her father stated in a threatening tone.
Sometimes Nneka wondered if her father knows what is called fatherly love, everything is business to him, using his children for his selfish gain.
Although she is different from Aurora, she will kill her since he wanted it, but won’t allow him to crumble her husband’s kingdom.
“I guess it’s time for her to go” she muttered, then she tore the scroll into pieces, and threw it Inside the lamp boiling.
