Samantha’s POV
“You really do not remember a thing?” Kayden asked me as I stared at him plainly.
“I really do not remember anything.” I replied him.
“You were talking about Davis and Lauren, you were going to tell me about the both of them…”
“I really have no idea what you are talking about, did you read the document I dropped on the table?” I asked him, suspecting that he had read what I had been doing with Davis.
“I did not but you really do not remember a thing?” He asked and I nodded.
“Hell!” he mumbled and ran his fingers through his hair.
“I do not understand Kayden, what happened? Why am I seriously injured? Why am I here right now? Why am I in this state? And why don’t I remember a thing about it all?”
“According to what I found out, you went to the hospital today, to ensure that the pregnancy result is correct and then, when next you mind linked with me, you told me that you were having a fight with some guys and that you had actually trailed Davis to that spot. And the next time you mind linked with me, you told me that Davis is not who I think he is, you told me he is keeping you hostage.” he replied me and I held my throbbing head.
“I… I…. I really do not….”
“It’s okay if you do not remember right now, I am sure everything would work out fine very soon, you would remember all of it later on, for now just rest” he said to me and I laid back on the bed.
“Cara, what really happened?”
“I have no idea too.”
“Kayden can not be lying which means all of that actually happened and maybe I have just suffered a concussion.” I replied her.
“Perhaps, I just hope we do remember everything quickly, what Kayden said we said to him has to be true, and if it is, that means that he is really a bad guy in all of this, his hands are not in any way clean.”
“Exactly, I am going to find out more.”
“But we need to heal up first, at least.” Cara replied and I couldn’t agree more, I was very weak and tired, my body ached so badly.
“Anything you would love to eat?” Kayden asked.
“Anything you want to give to me.” I mumbled a reply.
“Then I would have something brought here, I do not want to leave your side.” he said and I nodded with a small smile.
I watched him walk over to another side of the room and made a call, I did not bother listening to whatever he was saying over the phone, he definitely had to be ordering food for me.
Few minutes later, a lady walked in with flasks of food in her hands and handed it over to Kayden.
“How about… How about you feed me?” I asked Kayden and he gave me a small smile before nodding.
He was not saying a word as he fed me but I could feel his worry and concern that was almost equal with mine too after all whoever attacked this time around (perhaps Davis and Lauren) could as well attack again in the nearest future.
He finished feeding me and dropped the flasks aside, then held my hands and caressed them gently.
“Mantha.” he called, his voice incredibly soft.
“Kayden.” I replied in same manner.
“I… I… Mantha, I am sorry.” he apologized and I furrowed my brows.
“What do you mean?”
“This is all my fault, I could not protect you very well, if only I had protected you adequately, this definitely would not have happened to you, it is really all my fault.” he said to me and I held his own hands also.
“Do not think about it so much. None of us thought that this could happen.”
“I know that but still yet I feel useless, I was unable to protect Diane and now, it seems like again, I am starting to being unable to protect you also.”
His words and his mentioning of the name ‘Diane’ seemed to give me a bit of headache as it seemed more like there was something I had discovered about that name recently but I could not place my hands on what they were exactly.
“Is anything wrong with you? Should I get the doctor?” He asked worriedly and I shook my head.
“It’s nothing at all, I am very fine and I would be even more better if you stop being guilty. You are the best guy in the whole world Kayden.” I said to him but my words did not really seem to make him okay, his shoulders just plopped down in that still yet down state.
“I love you and you also love me, to me that is everything in the world that matters.” I said to him, pulled him closer to me and kissed him gently on the lips.
He kissed me back gently, the kiss was soft and gentle, it really had to be the gentlest kiss we had ever shared.
Two days later
Kayden’s POV
I helped Mantha out of the car, we were returning home from the hospital after I have made sure that Mantha is okay already.
Getting her to stay in the hospital for two days was very hard, she just insisted on going back home and her happiest moments in the hospital had to be when Cassie, James and Marie came visiting and the time when we made out in the hospital. It was just yet another level of achieved romance for me.
“Gently.” I said to her, helping her into the mansion.
“You are finally back.” Cassie squealed excitedly as she ran towards us with a huge smile on her face.
As usual, James was not so far away from her, he walked after her with a more composed expression.
“Alpha Kayden.” they both bowed to me and I acknowledged it with a slight nod.
“Prepare Mantha her best dishes.” I said to Cassie and continued the walk with Mantha.
“Yes Alpha Kayden.”
“My legs are a bit fine, you really do not need to hold me so tightly.” she said to me and I was about to let go of her when Jay screamed in my head.
“What are you about to do? Aren’t you the one who actually made me know that when a girl says yes, she actually means no! And when she says no, she means yes! How in the world can you try to let go of her?” He lectured me.
“I almost forgot.”
“I just love holding onto you” I said to Mantha and saw her blush slightly.
That was impressive. I helped her into our room and laid her on the bed, kissed her forehead and picked out my phone.
I had not been using it much these days. I decided to check my mail box and I really had a whole lot of messages already but one caught my immediate attention, that was the one from the guy who had been helping me with tracking contact numbers.
The message was from the last two days, I opened the message and found that it was the address of the contact that had sent me the picture of Mantha going into James room but there was nothing surprising about that, the thing that was surprising had to be the current address of the person that had actually sent me the pictures, the address was my own very home, this same mansion I was standing in.
