Lauren’s POV
Immediately the mind link ended, I picked up the knife that had fallen from. My hand the moment that I had heard that Kayden was after me. Mantha was in front of me, breathing heavily as she sweated profusely.
“Did… Did your…. your perfect plans go wrong?” She asked me mockingly while trying to still keep up with her brave font.
“You bitch! You…. You definitely told Kayden about this, didn’t you?!” I yelled at her, grabbing her neck tightly and trying to strangle her to death.
I let go of her neck and looked around the place for the heavy metal object I was going to use to hit her. I did not know why I would have to do that when I could simply just use the injection on her but then I believed that Davis knew better.
I grabbed the metal and but Samantha with it, she let out a ear piercing scream and fell unconscious, I wished I could hit her a bit more so she could perhaps just die and leave this world for me, the world did not want her, I did not want her specifically!
I looked around the walls and found the injection, running towards it, I did a small leap at the wall so that my hands could reach the injection since it was a bit out of my reach.
I grabbed it and pulled it down from its place. I walked over to Mantha one more time and dug the injection into her hands. I watched her skin turn pale for a moment before it turned back into normal.
I grabbed my phone and was about walking out when I heard the noise of a car approaching, I needed no one to tell me what was going on, that had to be Kayden approaching me already.
I ran off as fast as my legs could carry me and jumped into the nearby bushes. I tried to shake shift so as to adapt quickly to the surroundings of the bushes but it was hopeless, my wolf side was not going to allow me shake shift.
“You never want to do anything the way I think of it and so from now on, you should live your life on your own, I am dead to you, you are also dead to me.” she said to me.
Kayden’s POV
I alighted from the car immediately we got there, the pains that I had felt in the car had no comparison, I had never felt such pains in my life because there was hardly anyone who could beat me up in the entire pack and now I had to face those pains through my own mate.
I pushed open the heavy iron gates with a kick and ran into the place, Mantha was on a chair, her body was limp and she seemed unconscious.
I sped over to where she was and without caring about the silver ropes, I pulled at then and cut all of them, setting her free into my arms.
Her limp body fell onto my body and I shook her slightly.
“Mantha… Mantha wake up.” I slapped her cheeks gently trying to get her to wake up but she did not move an inch.
“She… Our mate can not be… She can not be!”
“Mantha, Mantha please wake up.” I pleaded with her, my eyes getting teary for a moment.
I placed my head on her chest and found out that she was still very well breathing. I quickly picked her up and rushed her into the car , forgetting about the existence of Davis and even Lauren.
All I was about was saving Mantha. I drove hastily and hurriedly to the hospital, checking on her in intervals till I got to the state’s hospital.
I alighted from the car, rushed over to the other side and carried her out of the car. I ran as fast as my legs could carry me into the hospital.
“Save her! Save her right at this instant! You have to do something!” I yelled at the nurses who got into panic.
“Gosh! I know who he is, he is the youngest billionaire here.” a nurse said to the others she her information seemed to make the others more aware of how much they will be affected if anything happens to Mantha.
“Let us have her sir.” one of them said to me and I placed her on the stretcher that they were holding in their hands.
“Make sure that nothing happens to her!” I yelled.
“Please, kindly calm down sir, she is in safe hands.” a nurse said to me but I was not in any way interested in whatever she had to say.
I looked away and began to pace around the place while massaging my creased eyebrows in worry and concern.
I held both hands together as I continued to silently pray that Mantha should really be safe and not leave me like Diane did to me because hers would definitely hurt harder than Diane’s death hurt me.
“Sir, are you the guardian?”
“I am her husband.” I replied the doctor who had approached me.
“She is safe at the moment, she is a really strong woman. Not all women would have survived that but it was quite easy for to get over with it. That was the best and fastest recovery that I have ever witnessed.” she said to me.
“Thank you…. Can I see her now?”
“Of course, she would be moved into her ears right now, you can follow her and talk to her, she should be conscious very soon since there is no other issue.” she added and walked away.
I was so grateful that she was safe. I watched as she was being driven into the ward and I followed suit immediately, trying to look at her face but I could not really do so because of the nurses that surrounded Mantha. I knew that had to be because of who I was anyways.
I followed them into the ward and after setting up everything, they walked out of the room leaving just I and an unconscious Mantha.
I held her hands, sitting down beside her and caressing the skin of her hands.
“Wake up, will you?” I asked softly as I patted her hands.
There were bruises on her body and her shoulder that had been stabbed had been bandaged. The sight of the bandage made me mad, the only thing calming down the rage in me was the sight of Mantha in front of me.
Her fingers moved against mine and I quickly diverted my gaze to her face.
“Mantha, are you awake?” I asked her as her eyes slowly fluttered open.
“Wa… Water.” she requested for and I got up, getting the cup of water for her in a moment. I helped her with it and let her rest once more.
“What happened to you Mantha? How did all of this happen to you? What do you mean when you were talking about Davis?”
“Me? I… I don’t know how I got here, and I do not remember talking about Dave also.”
“But you were telling me about Davis and even Lauren.”
“I… I do not recollect a thing.”
