Samantha’s POV
“Marie…..” I called in surprise.
She was the girl that came along with Clarice back then.
“You know her?” James asked and I nodded.
“Yes I do know her.” I replied him and shot up from my seat.
“What reasons could she have for coming here? And how did she manage to escape but could not get Clarice to do the same?” I asked Cara.
“Perhaps they were both trying to escape but Clarice was caught back and was brutally killed.” Cara replied me and that kind of made sense to me.
Marie perhaps thought that I was the only one in the position to help her and that was why she came to look for me.
“We cannot let her down Cara.” I said to my wolf side.
“Sure, Alphas do not let down, they defend and protect.” Cara replied and I paced the length of the room.
“Are you okay? Is there anything Alpha Kayden should be informed about?” James asked and I immediately shook my head.
If there was anything that I knew about Kayden, it was that he would never let me go after Marie if he was told. He was going to make sure I stayed home and waited for him to get back but he simply did not totally understand me, I just wanted to be a little bit independent and deemed capable too.
I wanted to live up to the expectations that Marie had seemingly placed me. If she did not mind of trust me to be able to do something about the issue, she would not have come for me and moreso, she probably had some information that we would be needing also so that would be good for Kayden, I would be able to help him relieve the stress he is currently passing through.
“Marie is one of the first to trust us and we are not going to let her down if she really has so much trust in us.” Cara said to me.
“Do not tell Kay about any of this.” I said to James and he hesitantly nodded.
“You should take your leave now and go back to meet with Cassie, I am pretty sure that she does not love being away from you.” I added.
“You should have a good time with Alpha Kayden too, I am pretty sure that he does not so much love being away from you.” he said to me.
“Are you using my words against me right now?” I asked him and he smirked.
“Of course not, I dare not.” he replied and walked away.
He had gotten to the door when I called him to a halt.
“James.” he stopped and turned to look at me.
“When are you going to tell Cassie about who you really are? I don’t think it is really great if you continue to keep it a secret, it could tear her apart when she eventually knows.” I said to him and heard him sigh softly.
“You are right but I am just really scared to, I do not want her to let go of me because of who I am, I love her so much and I could as well choose to become human for her.” he replied and I did admire his love for Cassie.
Cassie was lucky to have someone who loved her that much.
“And you are lucky to have Kayden too.” Cara replied me.
“Of course I am.”
“I know your feelings are true but the more you keep hiding it, the more painful it will be for her when you finally tell her who you truly are.” I replied him.
“All your words are totally right and the truth is that I can’t help but think about all of it whenever I and Cassie are together, she thinks I am just a human and I wonder if love really has to do with what we are, can’t we just love? Regardless of the differences in our worlds?” He asked and I moved closer to him and gently patted his shoulder.
“I know your love can go on regardless of the differences in both your worlds, your love, I do think, is strong enough. And when you do tell her, do let me know so I can put in some good words for you and help Cassie get over it as soon as possible.” I said to him.
“Thank you so much Samantha, I would tell everything to her tomorrow, I would come clean and finally be free of guilty conscience whenever I am with her.” he replied.
“Yeah.”
He took the door and walked out of the room. I sighed softly, the course of love, never did run smooth and it was clear enough, I and Kay had our issues and even James and Cassie has theirs, definitely every single couple in the world had theirs.
“As long as you can continue to smile even with those challenges is all that matters.” Cara replied me.
“Yeah.”
I moved into my bathroom after stripping myself of clothes, I took a quick bath, dressed up in tight jeans and a body fitting top, wearing loose things would not be so good for going out, especially at this point where things were very skeptic.
I let my hair down, put on my locker and proceeded out of the room when a thought cane to my mind.
I could not give Kay the chance to be able to reach me or else he might actually disturb me till he makes sure I tell him where I am or go back home.
“Cassie.” I called as I stepped out of the front door.
I was pretty relieved that I did not seen Kayden’s mum, she might question me about where I am leaving to and for that…. I have no reasonable excuse.
“Cassie, do make sure that no one finds out that I am gone. Thanks, I love you. ” I said to her and kissed her cheek with a small smile on my face.
“Wh… What if Alpha Kayden comes back home?” She grumbled.
“Hopefully, I will be back before he gets back.” I replied her and moved towards James.
“Do you know where the lady passed through?”I asked him.
“She passes through the left lane, the lane that leads down to the next row of identical houses.” he replied and I patted his shoulder..
“Thanks, lovelies.” I said to the both of them and headed out of the place.
“Now I have to build walls around my mind so that Kay cannot mind link with me.” I said to Cara.
“Are you sure that is a very good decision?” Cara asked.
“It is the best.” I replied her and with that I built walls around my mind, I was now satisfied that Kay could not talk me out of doing this.
I stepped out of the place with the ease that came with being the Alpha’s mate and loved one.
I followed the left lane and began moving just as James had described hoping that Marie was still lurking around somewhere, waiting for me to show up.
I had walked for minutes when I heard footsteps behind me, I swiftly turned and looked backwards but there was totally no one behind me and that was quite astonishing, I could swear that I heard the footsteps.
I walked around and around with the footsteps following me around, my ears could pick up the sounds but my nose could not really catch the scent of whoever it was.
“Whoever you are come out.” I said but there was no response or movement either, it was all just calm and I could have almost told myself that I was simply hallucinating.
I turned back and continued walking when I heard the cold voice…..
“Samantha!”
