Kayden’s POV
“Where the hell did she go to?!” I thundered and the both of them flinched badly but I was still in no mood to study whatever expression they had on their faces.
I moved swiftly down and grabbed James collars, pulling him up with bloodshot eyes.
“Where did she go to?!” I asked yet again and his eyes blinked severally.
“She… She…” He stuttered and I dropped him to enable him speak properly.
“Tell me and stop the stuttering! Right at this moment!” I yelled at him.
“She… She went out to search for someone.”
“I did not ask you what she went out to do, I only asked you where she went!”
“She went down the street, the left lane to the point where we go into the next row of identical houses.” he replied and I raced out of the house.
“Mantha.” I tried to mind link with her but there was no way to, she had built walls around her mind and that shocked me the more.
“How could she do this?! ” I asked no one in particular as I searched for her.
“You’d better not tell me to let go of her when I eventually find her Jay.” I said to him.
“Let’s freaking find her first! You know how dangerous the situation is right now?!” He yelled back at me and I could not help but feel even more frustrated as I roamed the entire streets till I finally found her walking in the middle of the street.
I halted, breathing heavily and folded my arms beneath my chest.
“Samantha.” I called coldly and she slowly turned to see me.
“Ka…. Kayden.” she stuttered.
“Oh you are really surprised to see me, right?” I asked, my intense gaze still not leaving her.
“I… I am….”
I walked over to her and grabbed her hands, pulling her after me.
“No Kayden.” she groaned trying to get out of my grip.
“What do you mean? You want to stay out here? You know how dangerous things can be Right Now that we even have no idea who is behind all of this!” I half yelled.
“I have to search for this girl.” she insisted.
“Search for who?! You are coming home with me.”
“No Kayden, you have to let me do some things on my own too.” she grumbled.
“I am not against you doing things but you just can’t go out when there is danger everywhere!”
“There is danger everywhere? But you can still go out Kay, why can’t I go out? Is this what you really think of me? Someone who can’t protect herself? A weakling who is just your mate and nothing else? A good for nothing she wolf who hides behind her mate? Or is this all because I am a slave? Because you think I am not used to how things are being done? Because you think I am weird?!” She yelled at me shocking me so much.
“Man…” I stopped talking plainly because I had no idea what I could say next.
So she was feeling all of this insecurities with me? She was feeling like she was inferior to me? Couldn’t she see that all I wanted was just for her to be safe and be by my side? I was just trying to keep her safe.
I could see the tears in her eyes but the anger I was feeling too could not let me even pull her close to me. I was in high rage.
I moved steps backwards from her, shaking my head slightly.
“So that is what you think I do think of you?” I asked her in a very low tone.
“I am just trying to make you safe.” I mumbled.
“You are not! I know I am a slave but can you please let me have a little bit of freedom! Stop holding me back at home in the name of keeping me safe! Stop treating me like a slave!” She yelled back at me despite the fact that I was trying to calm her down with my soft words in spite of my very own anger.
“You know what? You are just making me angry!” I groaned and turned to leave.
I did not want her to see me lose it which I was sure going to do if I listened to more of her words.
I stormed off in rage and walked back seething with anger. Jay could give no comment, he definitely could not support Mantha in this situation and he did not want to talk because his words might just end up annoying me the more.
I continued walking in anger till I got home without turning back to even see her. I walked past mum without saying a single word.
“Kayden, what is…..”
I did not wait to hear what mum said and just stormed off into my room. I sat at the edge of my bed, seething with anger. I got up from my bed, moved to my study table and pushed everything off it in anger.
I picked the locket on my neck, opened it up and stared at her picture still in rage.
“Jay, how could she? How could she think that I do think of her as nothing but a slave?! I have never thought of her like that! You do know that!”
“I understand you Kay. I really do not know why Mantha is thinking this way but you tell me that humans have a whole lot of complications maybe this is one of the complications. You are capable Kayden, I know you can being the both of you together once more.” he said to me but I shook my head vehemently.
“You want me to bring us back? How am I supposed to do that? Beg her when I did nothing wrong? Apologize to her when I have no idea what I even did wrong? C’mon! None of this is my fault!” I half yelled at no one in particular.
“But humans….. I think you should understand humans better.” Jay said to me.
“I have nothing against her going out! You know I have nothing against it! But going out without telling anyone or me about where she is going particularly during this period and still building a wall around her mind! It is all just crazy!”
