Kayden’s POV
I walked out of my room where I had left Mantha and headed to the living room.
I sat on the sofa there and threw my head backwards, raking a hand through my hair.
“Hey son” I heard mum’s voice from afar and I opened my eyes.
“What’s going on? You just went out last night taking the guys with you.” Dad added.
“Dad, mum, there is something going on in the pack, something very strange and cruel m” I replied and they both moved closer.
“What could that be?” Mum asked and I sighed softly.
“C’mon, tell us about it.” mum urged.
“There is slavery in the pack, wolves are taking wolves as slaves.” I broke the news and the both of them gasped.
“Impossible!”
******
“So you mean to say the Green Moss pack from back then….. Was enslaved and not killed by wolf hunters?” Dad asked and I nodded.
“And Samantha is from the Green Moss?” Mum asked and I affirmed.
“Th…. this is still shocking!” Dad said and mum nodded in agreement.
“Who do you want to do right now?” Dad asked me.
“Mum, somehow the slave masters have figured out that we have discovered them already, that is the only reason why they left their former hideout but it has to be on a short notice so they definitely can’t be settled yet, I would try to find them.” I replied him.
“Are you sure you can find them or you need me to join you in this?” Dad asked.
“You can if you want.” I replied him.
“And mum, I would need you to help me watch over Mantha, she found out that she lost two people yesterday, let her rest very well, I would not love to let her know that I am going out again because she would definitely want to leave with me.” I added.
“Sure, I would take care of Samantha.” mum replied and I got up.
“Abd yeah…. Do not let Lauren in here no matter what.” I said to mum.
“You have not settled things with her yet?”
“No because there is totally nothing to settle mum. Lauren is also in this slavery stuff somehow, how she is in it… I am not sure yet, if she is being used or if she herself is very well conscious of all of this… I still have no idea but she is not allowed any where near Mantha and my study too.” I replied mum.
“Alright, alright, I would do that for you then.” she said and I nodded slightly.
“You’d love to tell me what you know about Lauren?” Dad asked as we walked away.
“I would tell you everything when I, myself is cleared about all of it.” I replied him.
“Where are we heading to right now?” asked Dad.
“Back to the former hideout of the slave masters…. There was no way they could have had time to clean up all traces and clues that could lead us somewhere.” I replied him.
“You know you really took after me when it comes to brains.” dad said and patted my shoulder.
I ignored his comment and we both walked on in silence.
We got into a car and I drove off.
“The Lock Heart’s pack….” Dad mumbled to himself while I drove and I turned to look at him
“Anything about the pack?” I asked Dad with curiousity.
” I am not really sure but they sure do have a whole lot of strong wolves over there.” dad replied.
“Do you think they took the Green Moss pack because they do not want them to take over them in strength according to the prophecy that the next generation of the Green Moss would be strong.” I asked Dad.
“We just can’t point accusing fingers at a major pack like that, we need to figure out the exact truth so we don’t end up embarrassing ourselves by accusing them wrongly.” dad replied.
“But still yet, is it so possible that slavery would be going on right in their town and they have no news about it?” I asked Dad.
“Guesses are not what we need right now, guessing leads to more and more confusion, let us get to the hideout and find something first.”
“I am not guessing.” I shook my head.
“Then what were you doing?”
“I was thinking.”
“Thinking and guessing, what the heck do you think is the difference?” Dad asked.
“Oh there’s a difference, isn’t there Jay?” I asked Jay.
“I would rather not get into the argument between the both of you.” he replied.
“Okay dad, there is totally no difference.” I said to dad to end the argument and it did work.
I focused on the driving of the car, It took hours for us to get to lock heart’s pack.
“You look a bit tired son.” Dad noted out.
“I am not tired dad, I am perfectly fine” I replied him and began finding my way to the slavery venue.
After minutes of silent drive, we drove to the spot and I alighted first, followed by Dad.
“Where the heck is this place?” Dad mumbled.
“They definitely chose the best spot.” he added and we both walked into the place.
“I was unable to check this place last night.” I said, moving into a room, there were chains on the floor and there was a silver coin in the corner of the room.
“Just imagine what Mantha must have gone through.” Jay said to me and I sighed softly.
I picked the silver and though it burnt my skin it didn’t hurt much. I looked at it carefully to know what sort of coin it was, that might help to trace the source of the coin but it turned out that the coin was just a normal usual coin.
I dropped the coin and walked over to the chains, I pulled the chains up and came in sight with a book.
I grabbed the book and opened the dusty but a bit fancy book.
“You might want to see this.” Dad voice came.
