Chapter 95

Book:Save Me Mate Published:2024-5-31

Kayden’s POV
I ravished the insides of her mouth, not forgetting to suck on her juicy lips each time. My arm pulled her closer to my body.
I broke the kiss giving her a small smile which disappeared when I heard Dad’s voice in a mind link.
“What the heck are you doing?!” He yelled and I pulled back.
My eyes came into contact with his and I maintained a Stern face with him.
“Wow!”
“Is this Mr Kayden wife?”
“He finally has a girlfriend?!”
“She is so beautiful! They both deserve each other!”
I looked back at Mantha who was looking at the floor shyly while playing with her fingers.
I grabbed her hands and pulled her through the murmuring crowd to where I was to be seated.
Dad maintained his glare on me which I totally ignored. That’s the worst he can do to me.
I held Mantha’s hands, caressing her hands to reduce the nervousness that I was quite sure that she was feeling.
“You really do think what you did is cool?” Dad asked in the mind link but I kept mute.
I could hardly remember the last time he minds linked me and now that he does, it is scolding his only pup yet again.
“The agreement was to wait for whoever wins tonight.” dad groaned.
“You and Mantha agreed, not me,” I replied to him and built a wall against my link, blocking him out.
I turned to look at him and he bit his lip in rage, sure enough, anyone would be angry that he was blocked out of his son’s link.
“Are you okay?” I whispered to Mantha and she nodded in response, giving me a small smile.
I stared at James and Cassie from the crowd, they were linking hands and speaking like a sweet couple.
I hope James does not ruin things between the both of them eventually.
The party commenced and it was quite boring till the end of the party, it was just the normal party with greeting business partners all over again.
The only quite interesting thing was the fact that Mantha was right beside me, it was the first time I would be having my mate beside me on my birthday, the first time a lady who loves and I love too would be standing by my side and holding my arm while I go round greeting.
The party eventually ended and the guests went home but then for we the wolves, we very well know that the party is just coming to a start.
I stared at Mantha and watched her breathe heavily. She was thinking about the contest again.
I kissed her forehead while cupping her face in my palm.
“Don’t think about it so seriously. Just take it as the both of us training.” I said to her and she nodded with a small smile.
“Kayden!” I heard Dad’s voice.
“Follow James, go and await me in the car. I would be there very soon.” I said to Mantha I did not want her to hear whatever Dad was going to say because I was so sure that they could not be so pleasant words.
Mantha nodded and walked away from where I was. I turned and walked over to Dad.
“What was the meaning of you introducing Mantha to others and kissing her right in the middle of the crowd?” He asked.
“That is what I want to do with my mate,” I replied to him and a small smile played on his lips making me wonder what was going on in the old man’s mind.
“Nice one. Hope you have her trained adequately for the contest,” he asked.
“Don’t worry dad, you would not be disappointed,” I replied to him with a whole lot of confidence.
“Nice… I would be wishing you good luck then,” he replied and walked away.
I stared at his retreating figure, sighed softly and walked away.
I got into the car and Mantha moved closer to me.
“Any problem?” She asked.
“None that I can’t take care of,” I replied and she nodded with a small reassuring smile.
We got home after the ride and I took Mantha to my room without letting anyone talk to her, we had no time to waste.
The guests were already arriving, we staying in the living room would do nothing but delay us because all Alphas and betas would love to pay their respects to me and that would only waste more and more of my time.
“Mantha, are you ready?” I asked her and she nodded.
“Remember that you are doing this for our love, you can not afford to fail,” I said to her and she nodded.
“I promise you, Kay, I would not betray your trust,” she replied.
“I am sure Mantha would not.” Jay chirped in.
“I do hope so Jay,” I replied him.
“I will go and get changed immediately,” Mantha said.
“You don’t want to greet some people before doing that?” I asked and she shook her head.
“I am getting nervous already Kay, I can’t afford to do anything else,” she replied.
“Nervousness is something you should be doing away with right now,” I said to her and she rubbed her sweaty palms together.
“I would try my best to,” she replied and mumbled some inaudible words to herself.
“Here is your uniform,” I said to her, bringing out a box from my closet.
She opened it and a smile left her lips.
“It’s so cool,” she mumbled.
“Here, I added some flowers from the garden you promised to take care of, they should provide you with enough luck,” I replied and she wrapped her hands around me, hugging me tightly
“Thank you so much, Kay. The flowers make it more pretty, once I am over this, I would make sure I take care of the pretty flowers,” she stated and picked the clothing up.
“I would go get dressed up in my room,” she said and exited the room.
I sighed softly as the door closed.
I was also feeling nervous, it had been years since I felt like this, all these years I have been feeling very composed but then what more can love to do?
After some minutes, I left my room and headed to hers which was just beside me anyways.
I opened the room and met her standing in the middle of the room, stretching her bones.
She looked amazingly beautiful in even fighting outfits, well everything had always looked good on her.
I wrapped my hand around her waist and tucked her hair behind her ears.
“During your human skills fighting, your hair has always been a hindrance, you would have to let me pack it up,” I said to her, already packing it up.
I picked the hairband that I had already purchased and packed her hair up quite well. She stiffened for a minute.
“What’s wrong?” I asked softly but she said no words.
My eyes gradually fell to her now exposed neck, the mark on her neck was now totally visible.
