Chapter 91

Book:Save Me Mate Published:2024-5-31

Samantha’s POV
She huffed angrily and walked away while I stared at her retreating figure.
“Her words are not discouragements, they are more reasons for us to practice even harder,” I said to Cara.
“I sure do know that,” Cara replied and I shapeshifted back to a wolf.
I broke into sprinting, running around the fields. After running for minutes, I stopped and shifted back to human.
I should check out the time I spend running around the fields.
I set the timer to a minute and shapeshifted sprinted, running wildly around the entire huge field.
I finished the race, shapeshifted back and check the timer, I had spent 56 seconds.
I smiled and wiped off my sweat.
I trained more before eventually dressing up and exiting the fields. I found my way to her room while wiping away my sweats with a towel.
“Do you think we are good enough?” I asked Cara.
“I am quite confident that we are going to win,” Cara replied and I plopped to my bed, facing the ceiling.
“I hope so cause I would not be able to glare at Lauren the way I want to if I lose “I replied her.
“Don’t even think about the possibility of losing, it is just so impossible to lose,” Cara said with every bit of confidence in her voice.
I smiled gently and got up from my bed.
I pulled off my clothes and tied a towel around my chest.
I walked into the bathroom and turned on the shower, the cold water ran down my skin, comforting every inch of my skin beautifully ran my hands through my hair and smiled, although I knew the smile was not so true. I was still nervous about tomorrow, it is a contest, one that I don’t even want to guess the winner.
I stayed in the shower for a long time. After a few more minutes, I exited the bathroom. and walked back to my room.
The thoughts and the tension about the contest had gotten rid of the excitement that Kay’s birthday was supposed to bring.
The birthday was going to be in two ways, the one in the morning when humans can come and celebrate with him then another one in the night for wolves only.
I opened the drawer and brought out the small box, I opened it up and stared at the wristwatch in it.
“I really do hope that Kayden loves the wristwatch,” I mumbled, I knew that he must have a whole lot of wristwatches already but then there was hardly anything special I could afford.
I brought out another box, it contained two lockets, one had my picture and another had Kay’s picture. I was going to give the one with my picture to Kayden but then I would only give it to him if I win the contest.
There would be no need to give him the locket if I lose.
“Stop thinking about anything such as failing.” Cara groaned.
“Alright, alright.” I smiled a sad smile and dropped the boxes back in my drawer.
I closed the drawer and went to my bed without even bothering to take off my towel and put on clothes.
“Mantha.” I heard his voice at the door.
“Kay,” I called in response and the door opened.
He walked in and I sat up on my bed.
“I went to the grounds, didn’t find you there.”
“Decided that I had enough training.” I chuckled and he sat beside me on the bed.
“I would be sleeping here tonight,” he announced and I pouted slightly.
“Why?”
“Because I want you to take in my winning aura,” he replied.
“You think I am going to feel nervous?” I asked him and he slowly nodded.
“You are right, I am quite nervous. You staying beside me would sure help me a lot” I replied to him and pulled him to lie on the bed.
He pulled me closer to him, I rested my head on his chest, he wrapped his hand around my waist.
“Good night love, I hope luck comes our way tomorrow,” he said and kissed my forehead.
“Happy birthday in advance love,” I replied to him and threw my hands around him, clutching him tightly.
I would never let go of you.
The next day
I woke up quite early, I wanted to be the first person to wish Kay a happy birthday personally and I also wanted to go for a little bit running before the birthday party would commence.
“Good morning Cara.”
“Good morning, feeling good?” She asked.
“I am feeling good if you are feeling good. We should be in a really good mood and state today so we can win.” I replied.
“Taken.”
I looked over to Kayden and stared at his sleeping figure, he looked peaceful and no one would guess that this was the cruel and cold Alpha that everyone feared, he was just so different when it came to me and that made me feel even more special to him.
I kissed his forehead, waking him up. He groaned softly, opening his eyes.
“Good morning and happy birthday!” I grinned at him.
“Good morning,” he mumbled and pulled me back to the bed. I landed on his chest and snuggled closer to his body.
“Why wake up this early?” He grumbled.
“I wanted to wish you first,” I replied.
“There’s no need, you could have simply done that later.”
“No, I have to be the first. Particularly, I have to wish you before Lauren does.” I added and he chuckled.
“Such a competitive mate I have.” he kissed my forehead.
“You have to let go of me,” I said, getting out of his grip.
“Where are you off to so early in the morning?” He asked.
“Going for a run to stretch out my bones,” I replied and ran out of my room before he would be able to stop me from doing so.
After all, I do not stop him from taking his run.
He cared about me a bit too much.
“Good morning.” I heard Lauren’s voice and I halted in my steps.
I pressed my lips into a thin line, I wanted to walk away simply but then that would make me look like a coward and that was one thing I definitely did not want to look like so I turned to face her with my head up high.
“Good morning.” I gave her a faux smile.
“You’re ready to exit this home today?” She asked.
“I think I should be the one asking you if you have packed your bags up already?” I replied to her with a question.
“Let’s find out today Samantha.”
