Kayden’s POV
I knew it would be stressful for her to shapeshift continuously for hours but there was no way we could go through that would not be involving stress.
I grabbed the timer.
“Start.” I punched the timer and she shapeshifted.
“Three seconds yet again,” I announced when she shapeshifted back to human.
She did it again and this time-lagged behind even more.
“4 seconds,” I said to her and her eyes widened.
“I… I will try more.”
An hour later
I could see that she was tired already, she had improved a bit, she was now at 2. 5 seconds, that was a rapid development for someone who just had her first shapeshifting a few days ago.
“It’s enough.” I stood up from where I was seated.
“You are tired, you should have a rest,” I said, walking to her but she shook her head.
“Not yet, I am going to get to 2 seconds” she groaned even though she was sweating hard.
“Take a look at yourself, you are overexerting yourself already. Training and resting go together.” I said to her holding her shoulder.
“All my life I have been resting from training, training for hours should be nothing today,” she replied.
“How about I test your human skills then? Since shapeshifting, I get is very tiring.”I said to her and she nodded.
“You have any skills at all?” I asked her.
“Fighting skills?”
“Of course.”
“I do have… But it’s just a little, really little,” she replied.
“Go and get dressed up,” I said to her, trying not to stare at her body too much.
She seemed to just be realising that she was still naked and she ran off.
“Let me see what you can do, charge at me,” I said to her and she breathed in and out.
“What? You’re scared?” I asked her.
“You are probably the strongest… No, the strongest here, why won’t I be scared?” She replied with a question.
“Just charge, I promise I would not hurt you,” I said to her and she nodded.
She took steps backwards and charged towards me with a spin kick that surprised me. I moved backwards to avoid it.
She regained her balance and moved towards me with three flips. I dodged her flips, she stood right in front of me and threw punches, she was quick but not quick enough to defeat Lauren yet.
I dodged her three punches before catching her hand at the fourth attempt. She moved backwards and threw another flip that made me loosen my grip on her hand, that was the only way to avoid being hit.
I stared at her quite surprised.
“Where did you learn that?” I asked her and she began breathing heavily.
She sat on the grass and fanned herself with her hands.
“I thought you said you had almost no skills,” I said to her.
“I have a little but sincerely, I was not that fast and quick-witted before,” she replied, still breathing heavily.
“Who taught you those skills?” I asked.
“Don’t try to make it seem like I am good, those are the only skills I know,” she replied.
“That is already a good foundation, with this and me training you and the capacity of your wolf, defeating Lauren should be pretty easy.”
“Are you sure?” She asked and I nodded.
“I am very sure,” I replied, sitting beside her.
She rested her head on my shoulder while I wrapped my hand around her waist.
We sat there, taking in the fresh air that roamed about. We said no words, there was nothing to say.
It was one of those situations when you had a lot on your mind but nothing in your mouth to say.
“The moon goddess chose a strong luna.” Jay grinned.
“She did, Mantha has the blessings of the moon goddess.”
A week later
Samantha’s POV
“It’s just tomorrow, I have to train harder,” I said to Kay.
“You have not had a good rest for days, you should rest tonight so that you would be energized tomorrow to fight against Lauren,” he replied.
“I have been training the whole week, I can not let go this night. Tonight is the night where I put my skills to the test, you need to understand Kay.”
“No, you have put your skills to test enough the whole day. You should rest, sleep very well so you can be refreshed tomorrow,” he said.
“Kay, I know that you love me and that’s why you are trying to care about my safety and health but I assure you that after this contest, I would have over a week rest, no… I would rest for as long as you want me to.” I replied him.
“No, I …..”
“Please Kay..”
“No, I insist.”
“Just this night.” I pleaded, pouting my lips.
He kissed my lips and looked away with an annoyed look.
“Okay, I give in,” he mumbled and I hugged him tightly.
“Thank you so much, you are the best,” I said to him and skipped out of his room.
I rushed over to the training grounds and decided to try my shapeshifting once more. I do it in a second now and I think that’s just good enough, that has to be like the fastest for any random wolf.
“Time to try it out Cara, “I said to her.
I shapeshifted in a second and ran around the whole training grounds. Speed was essential for a Luna and my speed had to be something that I had been working on a lot over the days.
“Hello.” I heard that annoying voice that undoubtedly belonged to Lauren.
I screeched to a halt and shapeshifted back to human.
“You can do all that you want, there is no way you are going to be able to defeat me.” She said with an air of pride in her voice.
“You wish,” I replied.
“Take a look at you, you think a week is all a Luna needs to be the perfect Luna?” She asked.
“That is not what a Luna needs, but that is what I need to be Kayden’s mate. You know what? I have no time to banter with you. I am too busy trying out new things with the one you want the most but will never get.” I replied to her and her face went red in a second.
“I am going to get him, just watch me tomorrow, I am going to let you know that all you have been doing is nothing but stupid and silly,” she responded but there was still an unmistakable look of pain in her eyes.
“I promise you, Lauren, I would not let you take Kay away from me.”
“And I very well promise you that you are not going to get Kay to be yours.”
