Chapter 74

Book:Save Me Mate Published:2024-5-31

Samantha’s POV
I had almost gotten to Alpha Kayden’s office as directed by the two guys that followed me here when I came across Lauren, she was coming from Alpha Kayden’s office I guess.
“Good morning Miss. Lauren.” I greeted but she responded with a huff and walked away from my presence.
“That good for nothing lady! What is she trying to do with our mate?!” Cara fumed and I clenched my fists tightly.
I wondered what she was also doing, wearing those skimpy dresses of hers and the fact that she was escorted by three guards, is Alpha Kayden rendering some sort of special treatment to her?
I sighed softly and walked up to his door and knocked on the door.
“In.” his voice came and I wondered if he at all thought of the possibility of an enemy being at the door when he said the word ‘in’ but then no enemy would easily come here to challenge Alpha Kayden, definitely none.
I turned the knob and pushed the door open. I found him sitting at his seat with his intent gaze on the documents that he was tending to. He looked super handsome and hot doing his business.
“A… Alpha Kayden.” I stuttered out his name and he raised his head.
“Drop the food,” he ordered and I quickly did so.
“There you go Alpha Kayden,” I replied.
“Good… You may leave now,” he said and I pouted. How could I come all the way from home and do nothing but just deliver food to him and yet see my rival coming from his office?
“Yes, Alpha Kayden.” I turned to leave. I had gotten to the door already when his voice halted me.
“Stay.”
My eyes widened and my heart raced for a moment. I turned back to face him enthusiastically.
“You would have to send back the plates,” he added and I nodded repeatedly with huge smiles on my face.
“Dish my food.” he requested and I rushed over to the food.
“Here you go Alpha Kayden.” I placed the food in front of him.
He sighed, shook his head and carried the food, walking over to the couch in his office, he sat there and I watched him eating, that was when I realized that I had not had breakfast yet.
“You don’t get tired of standing?” His voice came, cold as usual but then who cares?
The most important part was that he wanted me to have a seat, which showed that he cared for me. I sat on the couch opposite him and just then my stomach grumbled.
I bit my lips and held onto my stomach.
“You’ve not had breakfast?” He asked and I nodded.
“Words,” he demanded.
“Yes, Alpha Kayden.”
He stretched the food on his plate to me.
“Ugh?”
“Have it or am I going to have someone die of hunger in my office?” He asked and I took the food from him quickly.
“Thank you so much, Alpha.” I smiled widely and began eating the meal. The meal was delicious and it was such a pity that Alpha Kayden was unable to eat it all because of me but then that is my luck.
“You glutton, you need to know how to eat in front of him.” Cara cautioned me and that was when I realized that I had been eating like a hungry dog all this while.
I sat properly and adjusted my composure and tried eating like a gentle lady. I started eating the exact way I had seen Lauren eat. I looked up at Alpha Kayden and there… There on his face was a smile! A mind-blowing smile!
“That’s the first time I am seeing him smile, right?!” I shrieked to Cara.
“Of course!!”
“A… Alpha Kayden, you’re smiling.” I pointed out that I wished I had not said that sentence because he frowned deeply immediately after I said that.
“Just finish eating and leave,” he said and walked back to his seat.
I giggled and smiled widely. Alpha Kayden smiled at me!! I wished I had taken a picture of how handsome and cute his smile looked!
After eating, I packed up the plates and found that Alpha Kayden was fully focused on his job and I decided that it would be better to leave without distracting him so I merely bowed deeply and walked out of the office.
I still could not contain my happiness because Alpha Kayden smiled. I had even almost forgotten about Lauren, my rival coming to his office and I forgot to thank him for the phone he had asked to be given to me.
I could hardly wait to see Cassie so I could tell her that I had seen Alpha Kayden smile today, I could hardly wait to boast to her how handsome he was with the smile lighting up his face.
I rushed out of the company and soon came back to the car that had brought me here.
Kayden’s POV.
I let out the breath I did not even realize that I was holding earlier immediately she left the room.
Hell! How did I smile at her?! It’s been years since a smile lit up my face but she made me smile after so many years.
“You are realizing how much you’ve changed after meeting her?” Jay asked and I pressed my lips to a thin line.
“Look at you, how many have you killed since she came into your life? None.” Jay said and I threw my head backwards.
“Listen, you have to let go of everything that is holding you back and find your happiness and peace with Mantha, she is our mate, she is the one you love, what greater luck could one ever find?” Jay asked and I puffed out air from my mouth.
“Jay,” I called my name in the softest voice that I could ever.
“Maybe just a bit of time would do, a bit of time for the both of us to understand each other,” I added.
“And then you would find out that I have been right all along.”
“Maybe I will be the one right but then… Maybe you would be the one who is right all along….”
