“I’ve been able to overcome it in the past, so I have no doubt that I can do it again. The discomfort may only last a few days, but I’ll be OK,” he said, sending Ella’s heart into a tumultuous pirouette.
She knew it was excessive for the King, who was usually so tough and merciless, to have broken down in such a way.
Tears threatened to well up in her eyes, but she was not yet ready to let them fall. She wanted to say something, anything, but she couldn’t think of a thing to say. “I need to be alone, Ella,” he muttered at last, putting an end to her train of thinking.
She swallowed hard, turned around, and left without uttering a word, still bewildered.
After two hours, the moon had begun its ascent into the night sky. Spenser lay on the bed, his head in his hands, his heart beating wildly. The moon’s radiance had already begun to fry his brain…. like that savagery.
When the door opened, he caught a whiff of Viscar and the Doctor.
“My King, it’s time,” Viscar prompted Spenser to glance up from his hands.
They saw that his eyes were starting to water.
Frailly, he posed the question. “Everything, My King,” the Doctor said, and King Spenser, taking a deep breath, rose to his feet. Grumpily, he told them, “When you’re done chaining me, you should leave the cave,”
Both Viscar and the Physician exchanged looks; they weren’t about to leave their King chained up in the dark. Especially not for a person with Viscar’s track record.
Spenser responded, “Let’s go” and took the initiative to lead the way.
Ella faced the window and stared up at the full moon as it rose gradually in the night. This night was unlike any other night in my life.
Obviously, the night of the full moon has always been special for every wolf. Sadly, Ella has never seen anything like that. One minute the palace was bustling with visitors, and the next it was empty, except for three individuals who hurried past. They could feel the intensity rising, but they had no idea how to rein it in. Not long after, she heard doorbell ring.
Diana, the soft knocker, is the only one who could behave that way. In order to be sure it was actually Diana, she headed towards the door.
Diana greeted Ella with a warm smile and said, “Hello. ”
“H-hi. “Ella greeted her with a smile and made room for her to enter the house. Since Diana had not yet reacted, it was clear that she was one of the lucky few who had learned to tame her wolf. “How are you holding up? “Diana went to the spot beside the window where Ella had been standing to inquire. Now that it was exposed, the view was much more appealing.
“I’m…. Everything is ok with me. Yes, and you? “Ella said in response.
It was the effect of her conversation with the King on her mood. ” Well, I’m OK, ” Diana shrugged. Diana greeted the outside air by opening her window wide and taking a big breath. Ella then drew nearer to be in the same space.
“Do you not feel the effects of the full moon?” Ella questioned. In a cheerful rejection, Diana shook her head.
“I have a lot of practice and preparation to get through it. ”
Ella agreed, and the two remained quiet for some minutes after that.
After a moment of quiet, Diana spoke out, “The King has gone to the cave already,” which caused Ella to glance at her in bewilderment.
“Cave? “She sounded completely oblivious as she asked, prompting Dyant to glance her way and ask,
“Don’t you have any idea? It was her turn to pose the question. In order to keep his wolf from running away, he chains himself up in the same cave every full moon. “Ella was more perplexed than ever before. “But I heard it’s always pointless since his wolf was always stronger than the bars. Which wolf is his? So you’re saying that the King doesn’t have any authority over his wolf?” ”
In disbelief, she asked, and Diana shook her head.
“Oh my goodness!”
” So, you’re saying that you’re not sure. ”
The question amused her.
” The King has been damned. Because of the curse, he has trouble eating, sleeping, and being calm. Every full moon is the worst since the curse has made his wolf very destructive. At that time, he becomes a beast capable of killing everyone in his vicinity. “Diana said, “The King is going to be extremely upset, but he can’t do anything about it.”
Ella felt her head was heavy, wildly whirling. Her eyes looked as if they were about to pop out of their sockets. A curse had been placed on the king? Suddenly, his words echoed in her mind: *I’ve been getting over it for the last 15 years and knew I would this time around. Even if the discomfort just lasts for a few days, I’ll be *just fine.
“Oh, no! This was the root of all his emotional distress and physical pain. That night, the Moon would transform him into a monster. “With a gasp, she slumped back on the bed, looking exhausted.
After a moment, Diana glanced in her direction. Inquiring, “Hey, are you okay? ” As Ella pondered the question, she was at a loss for words. It finally hit her that the King was in pain. He detested his monstrous nature and wished he weren’t born.
That’s why he’s been behaving so weirdly and withdrawing from everyone for the last several days.
Diana sat down next to her, assuming she was feeling the effects of the King’s illness. Saying, “I feel horrible for him too, you know? ” She went on to explain. ” From what I’ve seen of him, the King has always been a melancholy guy saddled with routine duties. When not writing or reading, he would examine the essentials of his knapsack.
