Chapter 69

“I never expected to see you in my castle, much less while it’s off-limits,” he said. He scowled, “There’d be no need for the politeness, Darcy, since if I had my way, I wouldn’t want to be here.” Even Darcy was taken aback by it.
What a rude response! In fact, he merely addressed her by her given name. After Jeremy, Viscar was closest to the King. And when he stared straight ahead, his gaze landed on the equally tense Sucy. He had no idea he’d be seeing that face again so soon. He prayed Spenser wouldn’t intentionally harm her.
“I see’. The conversation proceeded while Darcy spoke. So, I wouldn’t say it’s a joy to see you either. Furthermore, I would want to inquire as to your presence on my property. The present moment. I am well within my rights to execute you and your troops.
If you attempt to murder one of my people, I have every right to kill you and your sisters. Immediately after she finished, Spenser chimed in and watched as Darcy’s face crumbled.
He continued, his voice becoming hoarser, “you and your sisters. You’ve already broken the rules by assaulting one of my people. ”
“What are you talking about? ” With a sneer, Darcy looked at Elizabeth.
” One of my wives was killed by an arrow tainted with poison that you and your sisters fashioned.”
Darcy’s expression was one of clear bewilderment. After a snide look at her sister, she turned back to scowl at Spenser.
She looked directly at the enraged Spenser and said, “I must say I’m the most puzzled person on planet right now since I have a zilch on what you’re talking about.”
When you ask why my sisters and I wouldn’t attack your people, Spenser, we answer with the same question: “Why? That hasn’t happened in hundreds of years. If you’re trying to pull a prank on us, King Spenser, I’d advise you to cancel the performance. “She sounded a bit agitated herself. King Spenser extended his hand to receive the arrow from Viscar. “Then, how would you clarify this? ”
He launched it in Darcy’s direction, and she easily caught it.
Frightened, she glanced at the arrow with its greenish blood. That venom!
The blood of a witch did really go into its creation. She didn’t bother to read up on it since it was self-evident.
She was well-versed in the venom and the materials required to create it, chief among them being the blood of a witch. As well as being impossible to steal stealthily from a witch, the reasonable potion necessary for this spell necessitated her willing participation.
This was done by someone…. a witch! .
King Spenser saw Darcy’s self-assurance dwindle before his eyes. She lost the will to confront him and couldn’t bear to speak to him directly.
“Your sisters and you are the ones pulling the charade here, Darcy. “When Spenser resumed, he did it in his usual fashion. ” Not-very-funny stunt, to put it bluntly. ” Darcy glanced up at the king and said, “I swear on the laws, King Spenser, I don’t know anything about this.”
“Then, who manufactured the poison?” A scowl formed on Spenser’s face. “I’m not sure! I never gave permission, and I never would! Our ancestors battled tooth and nail to ensure that the law would be upheld. Why should I risk it now, when it’s convenient for me? ”
“Well, that’s up to you, as one or more of your sisters around here is definitely to blame for this. In addition, I’m going to give you one more warning just to be kind. I won’t do any damage as I depart, but if this happens again, Darcy, you can count on my return. ”
Darcy’s face began to show signs of anger. And King Spenser, after a long gaze, turned and headed for his steed.
And Viscar, after giving Sucy a mute glare, turned around with the rest of his soldiers. There was a ruffling of feathers as they mounted their steeds and rode forth. The women sisters said nothing as they watched the departing guys from the stable.
Darcy looked down at the arrow in her hands, peered intently at it, and then hurled it to the ground in a fit of rage. “Sucy!” She yelled, looking down at the floor.
“Supreme Sister,” Sucy, who was standing close by, bowed to her.
Gather the nuns in the main hall.
Darcy’s wrath was palpable, and anybody could see that she was on the verge of doing something she could later regret. The lady addressed her as “Supreme Sister,” bowing before her.
“show me the map. ”
As Darcy and the Elder entered the room, she was panting heavily.
The brisk air outdoors had already begun to ruffle her hair, but she didn’t seem to mind. A sombre atmosphere was required since the space was holy.
Sister Stephny sparked a light at the entrance, allowing them to make their way to the wall where the massive map was tacked.
Known as the “magical map,” it was useful for identifying and tracking down witches outside of their castle.
A dotted light on the map would have indicated the whereabouts of a witch if one had been present. However, because no other lights were on, there must be no witch around. Furthermore, the palace was the source of the poison.
To the front row, where the witches were seated, Darcy stormed, her crimson robe sweeping the floor behind her.
When furious, Darcy was much like her mother. Who brewed up the poison and used it in an assault on a wind walker?
Her fiery gaze darted around, searching the faces of those around her for a glimpse of truth.
” I’ve just finished confirming there isn’t a single witch beyond these boundaries by consulting a map. Whoever manufactured that poison is probably gazing at me right now, since they’re from around here.”
