My phone rang.
I saw that it was a call from Nicola.
“It’s so late, am I disturbing your rest?”
“No, I just went out for a bit and was about to head home. Brother Nicola, is there something you need?”
“Yes, I found out that the person who secretly filmed you entering my room at the hotel was Eric’s person.”
“I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to drag you into this.”
“How could this be your fault? Eric has always been targeting me. Who knows if that person was following you or me? You don’t have to apologize, do you understand?”
“Okay.”
“Oh, by the way, I haven’t had a chance to thank Auntie for providing me with the photos. Can you thank her for me? It’s really important to me.”
“I’ll tell her.”
I turned to Winson and said, “The person who secretly filmed me entering the hotel was Eric’s person.”
Winson’s eyes turned cold and menacing. “It really was him. Don’t worry, Eric won’t get away with this. Betty, Uncle, and Natale’s case all points to Eric. I will find out the truth and make sure he gets what he deserves.”
The next morning, I left for the old mansion.
Winson told Elsa that he wanted to go out for a walk.
Elsa was worried that he might get into trouble, so she wanted to go with him.
But Winson insisted that it was okay. He had a driver and would call Edward if there was any problem. Seeing his confident look, Elsa nodded in relief.
She didn’t want to make Winson feel pressured by following him too closely.
After all, he still “didn’t know” about his own condition.
Winson drove to the outskirts of town to a deserted area.
The traffic was unusually quiet at this time.
When he got out of the car and walked to the entrance, the security guard was about to say, “We’re closed at this time.”
But as soon as he saw Winson’s face, he immediately became alert.
After all, Winson and their Jack didn’t get along.
Winson calmly looked at the guard and asked, “Is Jack here?”
“Please inform him that I need to see him,” Winson said as he walked towards the entrance.
The security guard immediately went inside to relay the message.
However, soon after, the security guard came out and told Winson, “Winson, please leave. Our young master is still sleeping and not receiving any visitors.”
“Tell him that what I need to say is related to Natale, and it’s urgent,” Winson said firmly.
The name Natale carried a lot of weight in the area, including the field where the mansion was located.
Although the security guard was afraid of being scolded, he had no choice but to convey the message once again.
This time, it wasn’t the security guard who came out, but Jack’s trusted brother, Jill.
Jill politely invited Winson and said, “Winson, our brother Jack requests your presence.”
Walking through the chilly morning breeze, Winson confidently strode into Jack’s room.
Jack spent more time in this mansion than anywhere else throughout the year.
The room was filled with the smell of alcohol and cigarette smoke, and Jack looked a bit groggy. He impatiently scanned Winson up and down and said contemptuously, “What do you want to tell me about my sister?”
Winson gave Jack a cold glance before taking the initiative to sit down on a nearby chair. “Your hospitality skills are truly admirable,” he said.
“And you’re not a guest, you’re more like an enemy,” Jack replied, sitting up and taking a pack of cigarettes from the coffee table. He lit one and the smoke started to swirl around him.
Winson looked at Jack and furrowed his eyebrows. “Don’t smoke in front of Natasha in the future. She hates the smell of smoke, and it seriously damages her fragrance,” he said.
Jack looked at him, recalling the time when Natasha had snatched his cigarette away. However, he still sneered, “Mind your own business.”
Winson didn’t want to waste any more words on him and asked directly, “Do you have any evidence that your sister’s death is related to our family?”
“What if I do? What if I don’t?” Jack smirked.
Winson’s expression turned cold. “If you do, then show us the evidence. If you don’t, then let’s investigate it together.”
“Ugh,” Jack stood up excitedly from the sofa and rushed towards Winson. “If my sister hadn’t fallen in love with that Nelson, how could she have ended up like this?”
Seeing Jack’s behavior, Winson felt displeased. He stood up to interrupt Jack’s words and looked at him with disdain. “Jack, is your brain just for show? Did you not understand what I meant?”
Jack paused for a moment and then suddenly realized, “You mean…”
Winson calmed down and said calmly, “That’s right, I also suspect that your sister was murdered, along with my uncle.”
Jack fell silent for a moment, then retreated back to the sofa and said coldly to Winson, “You can sit down now.”
Winson also sat back down and asked, “Can we be honest now? What evidence do you have?”
Jack picked up a military knife and played with it in his hand before saying, “After my sister’s car accident, the driving record was taken by someone. If my sister’s death was really an accident, why would someone take that thing?”
Winson frowned. Indeed, it wasn’t an accident. He looked at Jack and questioned, “So, you’ve been suspecting that this was done by someone in our family?”
Jack looked rather nonchalant. “Of course. Nelson betrayed my sister and she refused to forgive him. What kind of things can’t he do?”
Winson narrowed his eyes. “Who told you that your sister didn’t forgive my uncle?”
Jack sneered, “My father said it. He said my sister was already planning to marry someone else, but your uncle kept pestering her, so he drove her to her death.”
Winson’s face darkened. “Your father… really is a master of deceit.”
“What do you mean?” asked Jack.
“Back then, your sister had already forgiven my uncle. They had started over again. Later, when your sister passed away, my uncle was devastated… he ended up in a car accident and passed away as well.”
Upon hearing this, Jack was truly shocked and couldn’t believe his ears.
