Chapter 191

Book:Reborn, I Feel So Great Published:2024-5-31

“Auntie, is Philip close to Betty?”
Cecy didn’t think much and nodded, “Their relationship is pretty good. Betty has been in foster care since she was young and has always been cautious and hardworking, so several of the household staff, including the servants, take care of her.
Philip is about the same age as Betty and they get along well.”
“He wouldn’t also like Betty, would he?”
Cecy shook her head and smiled, “I’m not sure about that. I don’t pay much attention to other people’s feelings, but judging from Philip’s attitude, it probably isn’t the case. But why do you ask?”
“Well, I just think that if Philip knows enough, maybe he will know something. I want to ask him.”
Cecy stood up, feeling somewhat exasperated, and patted her on the head. “Do you think everyone’s mouth is as loose as mine? Philip regards your grandfather’s command as a holy edict and won’t talk nonsense. So you don’t need to ask, you won’t get anything out of it.”
I looked up at Cecy and smiled slyly. “Okay, Auntie, I understand.”
“In order to not make them suspicious of my intentions, I stood up and said, “You two chat, I’ll go check on Elisson.”
Cecy quickly asked, “Natasha, you and Elisson are good friends, right?”
“Yes,” I replied.
“Well, great. When you have time, let’s talk about Elisson’s story. I want to learn more about this girl.”
Before, she was Machel’s fiancée, which had nothing to do with me, so I didn’t pay much attention.
Now that she is about to become my daughter-in-law, it is natural to inquire about her.
“Mom,” Edward’s typically elegant voice was replaced with a cold tone as he spoke, “The woman I want to date, you either understand her yourself or don’t do anything and just support me.”
Cecy smiled helplessly and looked at me, saying, “You see, he already has his bias. As a mother-in-law, it seems that I won’t have an easy time.”
” Auntie, Elisson is the best woman I’ve ever met, and you are the best elder I’ve ever met. If Edward really ends up with Elisson, then you will be the happiest family.”
Cecy nodded with a smile. “That would be best.”
I went upstairs and saw Elisson. “Natasha, why did you come up? Has everything been discussed?”
“Elison asked anxiously, ‘Natasha, when is Elly coming back?’
‘What’s wrong?’
Elison looked embarrassed and said, ‘To be honest, it’s awkward living here.’
‘Did Edward confess his feelings to you?’
Elison looked frustrated and whispered, ‘That’s why I feel so uneasy. It’s already awkward enough, and then I ran into Cecy today. Do you know how nervous I was?’
‘Edward and your mother-in-law are both great people. There’s no need to be nervous. Just keep calm.’
‘I can’t stay calm.’
‘Do you like him?’
Upon hearing this, Ellison paused for a moment and shook her head, saying, “I don’t like him.”
“Don’t like him? Why?”
After a moment of contemplation, Ellison said, “I know that it’s an honor for him to like me. But my heart tells me that we shouldn’t continue to have contact.”
“So, it’s because of that scumbag Machel?”
Ellison looked gloomy. “I don’t want our future to become the subject of other people’s ridicule. I also don’t want him to regret being with me in the face of other people’s mockery, because he discovered something bad about me. I just want a simple life and an ordinary man to spend my life with.”
Ellison was not just struggling with the memories of Machel, but also with her own insecurities. If her past with Machel was the stain in her heart, then Edward’s excellence was the stumbling block that made her hesitant.
“Elisson, if you didn’t like him, you wouldn’t be thinking so much about this. The reason you’re considering this is because you have acknowledged the desire and emotion in your heart, but ultimately, you’ve given yourself a low score, thinking that you’re not worthy.”
“When you can love, love well. You deserve the best man in the world because you are worth it,” she said.
Although she no longer yearned for love, deep down in her heart, she still wished for Ellison’s happiness.
There was a knock on the door.
Edward opened the door and walked in with Winson.
“Did we interrupt your conversation?” he asked.
“No, why did you come up? And where’s Auntie San?” Ellison asked.
“She’s gone,” Edward replied.
Winson didn’t want to be a third wheel, so he said wisely, “Natasha, it’s getting late. Let’s go.”
On the way home, I looked out of the window absentmindedly. Winson asked, “Are Ellison and Edward together now?”
“No, to win Ellison’s heart, Edward will have to make some effort. Ellison lacks security and needs love to change,” I replied.
“Love? Romantic love!” Winson murmured to himself.
“What about you, Natasha?” he asked.
“The kind of love I want is something you cannot give me,” I replied.
Winson let out a sigh, suppressing the pain in his heart. He smiled and said in a low voice, “Natasha, I… I will continue to try my best.”
Even if time is running short and even if he may end up with nothing despite his efforts, it does not matter. He will not be discouraged. Even if he only had one day left in his life, he cannot give up.
“It’s okay, I said before that the kind of love I long for, you cannot give me.”
“Can you tell me what kind of love you long for?”
“I long for the kind of love my parents had. Two people in a house, trusting, respecting and admiring each other, happily raising their children together, watching them grow up, accompanying each other as they slowly age. This is the simple and clean love I can think of at the moment.”
Winson clenched his fist slightly.
He withdrew his gaze from the shadows reflected on the car window and stared wistfully at the scene outside.
Suddenly, the car became quiet.
