When they arrived at the castle, the maids had the food ready, so Alina could eat it as she came back.
Chester served her porridge.
“Have some porridge first.”
“Okay.”
Alina nodded obediently, and at the moment she was eating just as she had done during this time when she was hungry.
As she was not used to the taste of this place at first, she would wait until she was hungry before she was willing to eat every time.
Chester, “Do you still want the buns?”
“Yes.”
After the laboratory tests at the hospital just now, it was natural to know that there was nothing in the buns, and certainly the Byrne family did not have the guts to do so.
Although the Byrne family was ambitious, they were timid, or at least did not dare to let Amy do anything so blatantly.
And Chester knew Amy would not do so.
Caleb immediately called Chester soon after what happened to Romeo and Sienna.
Over the phone, Caleb said in a stoic tone, “Are you sure there won’t be any problems now that she’s by your side?”
“Caleb!”
“Romeo really won’t…”
“Don’t worry, they won’t be allowed to meet at the moment.” Chester said somewhat helplessly.
After meeting Romeo yesterday and seeing his sickly and sinister side, he wondered what was going through Romeo’s mind at the moment.
But as long as there was a possible danger to Alina, Chester would eliminate it completely.
Caleb was still uneasy, “Not to meet? Is that a good idea?”
“What do you think?”
“I think it’s better to let her come to E City first, Romeo and the Ajax family probably won’t be finished that easily.”
It was not known how much would be involved.
But whether it was Caleb or Chester, the first reaction was that no matter how angry or hateful Romeo was, Alina could get involved.
This was what Caleb had in mind from the beginning.
“I’m very uneasy, or…” Caleb said to Chester.
Chester was actually uneasy.
But for the moment, he did not want Alina to leave him.
Subconsciously glancing at Alina, who was eating so well at the moment, Chester answered, “No need, I will protect her.”
After thinking about it, he still wanted to keep her around.
If Romeo really wanted to involve her, then no matter where she was sent, Romeo would have found her.
He hoped Romeo didn’t have that in mind at all, otherwise…
At this moment, Chester’s eyes was outrageously cold.
He would not let Romeo involve Alina in this, not at any time.
“Chester, this is not the time for you to be selfish.” Caleb said to Chester through clenched teeth.
Chester, “It’s not selfish, it’s incumbent on me to protect her.”
She would have been his responsibility.
As long as he was there, then he wouldn’t let her be hurt in the slightest.
Caleb was half-exasperated.
“Then you protect her!” Knowing that Chester would not easily let Alina go, there was nothing Caleb could do.
But now his men are watching Romeo at Sinantu Pavilion at all times, and he would not sit idly by as long as he showed the slightest hint of laying hands on Alina.
Chester hung up the phone and came in, and Alina placed the plate with one remaining bun in front of him, obviously saving it for him.
He knew exactly how much she ate now, and if she had to eat, she could eat five more.
However she saved that for him.
Chester’s heart was warmed, “You can eat if you want, no need to save it for me.”
“Chester, you eat.” Alina said.
Chester was amused by her look, which clearly showed that she wanted to eat it.
“I don’t like to eat this.”
“Really?”
“Yes.” Chester nodded.
Alina really ate it, unlike yesterday, probably because she hadn’t eaten anything delicious for too long, so she did not want to share the duck with Chester.
And today, she even saved it for him, which warmed Chester’s heart even more.
After breakfast, Alina stopped making a fuss.
Chester had understood during this time that if she was fed and drank well, she would stop.
During the morning hours, Chester stayed by Alina, as now Romeo had just returned and had just had those with the Ajax family.
Therefore, Chester was not sure what was on Romeo’s mind at the moment, so he personally watched over Alina at all times.
“Chester, who’s this?” Suddenly, a picture fell out from inside the book.
Chester looked at it and when he saw that it was Penny’s picture, then heard this question asked by Alina.
Chester’s heart ached.
“You don’t recognize her?”
Alina took it in her hand and looked at it very carefully, yet looked at Chester innocently, not remembering anything.
Chester took a deep breath, suppressing the stuffy weight in his heart, and held her in his arms as he said, “This is Penny, do you really not recognize her?”
All this time, Chester barely let Penny touch her head-on.
Not sure if she remembered Penny and worried that she might hurt Penny, so he kept her from seeing Penny.
Now it seemed that he did everything right.
How sad would Penny be if she saw that her mother, the one who loved her most, didn’t remember her?
Alina, “I know, I remember her.”
Because the picture was a baby picture, Alina really failed to connect the dots for a while, but now when asked so by Chester, she remembered.
When Chester heard that, his heart thumped and he just looked at Alina.
“You know her?”
“That’s my daughter, I haven’t seen her for a long time.”
Chester’s throat instantly hardened as he listened to her innocent and soft words.
She remembered Penny, she remembered him.
Why had he tried to hurt her like that before? Even if it was for her protection, she would have been upset, didn’t he know that?
Why would he did something like that?
“Where is she now?” Alina asked, when Chester didn’t say anything.
Chester, “She’s at school, so when she’s on holiday, she’ll come and see you, okay?”
“Really?”
“Yes.”
Chester took her in his arms, put down the book he was holding and buried his head in her neck, feeling the fresh smell of hers.
He was instantly red-eyed.
“Abby, good girl, Penny misses you too.”
That girl would approach him whenever she had the chance to ask when exactly Alina was coming and when she could see her mummy.
But when he really saw Alina in that state, Chester did not have the courage to bring her to Penny.
“I miss her too.”
Alina was in Chester’s arms, sniffling and saying, as if she was aggravated when talking about this topic.
