Thea gave a satisfied nod and said, “Of course, I trust her.” It’s just… She is a talented singer. There are a lot of facets of working in the film industry that she was unaware of.”
Cody spoke to her in an attempt to reassure her, “We can still invest in this movie. If we are the most significant investor in this movie, then all of the issues will be resolved. Those individuals won’t have the opportunity to cause any disruptions or problems.
Thea remarked, “This script is nice, though.”
Cody and Thea both read the script and came to the same conclusion.
“But what if it won’t benefit?” Thea was still worried about the outcome. Cody smiled, “It’s okay. It won’t cost too much.”
Thea still thought it was not right. Cody saw how hesitant she was, so he leaned in and whispered something into her ear.
Thea’s face went pale, looking at Cody incredulously, “You can’t be serious. Beth has been so nice to me all this time.”
After having all her memories back, Thea partially started to remember everything that happened between her and Beth. They had known each other since they were little. She believed Beth probably had recognized her a long time ago. But her relationship with the Weston house was complicated. That was probably why Beth hadn’t mentioned her real identity.
But Thea trusted Beth with all her heart.
Cody instantly tried to comfort her, “I know Beth must have nothing to do with this. She must be manipulated.”
Was Beth manipulated? The only person who was in the movie industry was Beth’s aunt, Helen Lopez… She was also the one who invited Thea to be cast in the film through Beth.
This time, Helen was also playing a role in this film. She would have been the female lead if her age was suitable. But…
“But Helen’s already such a successful actor. She has won countless awards so many times. Why does she want to do this to me? I can’t understand.”
Cody shrugged, “Well… You’ll never know. We’ve been trying to find this person who’s been trying to sabotage you, babe. This is a great chance. So, you need to take the role. So we can figure out what they truly want.”
Thea’s instinct was right. She felt someone was secretly trying to lead her somewhere. But they didn’t have any clues right now. Maybe going with the flow was the right thing to do.
At least they could find out their true purpose in the end.
Thea sighed deeply. “Fine… If that’s the case, I will take it.”
Cody nodded, leaving a kiss on top of her hair, “I will protect you. No one can hurt you, I swear,”
Thea called Beth back, saying that she would accept the role. And she asked if Honor could invest in this film. The producer said yes directly.
Everything was happening smoothly. But Thea only felt worried and sad. She wished the only true friend she had in this circle wouldn’t betray her.
Before the shooting started, the director sent Thea a booklist. She needed to read all those books to make sure that she would get closer to the role. Those radical voices on the internet subsided a little after the news about the casting was out. It was just like Cody expected.
Zara moved the studio twice. And the studio could finally run normally. Everything seemed nice and peaceful. Yet Thea knew deep down that a storm was gonna come soon.
Thea went to the crew quite soon. The male lead of this movie was Kevin. Luca was also in this film, but he was just a supporting role.
Helen was another female supporting role. The cast of this movie was of the top tier in the movie industry.
Kevin and Luca were both Thea’s good friends. They had cooperated with each other before, and they were quite familiar with each other’s methods of acting.
Cody went to the crew with Thea just as he did before. The shooting took six months. When it was over, it was already summer.
Thea was invited to the wrap party. Cody didn’t want to go. He just waited downstairs when Thea said she wanted to leave. Thea went back to the hotel at 11. Kevin and Luca thus also left.
What they didn’t expect was that the true party only began after the three friends left.
Two rows of beautiful girls walked in. And the party turned into an orgy. Some paparazzi got to take naked photos of the director and post them on social media.
Thea became the center of the scandal again. She didn’t even do anything. But those people online just had to blame everything on the actors.
Some people even said the director was a racist. They also said the main purpose of shooting this film was money laundering.
Some people did a little research and discovered that the Bradley House was the major investor in this film.
Thea thought that was the worst they could do. But those people somehow found out the history of Cristelle’s family. They said Cristelle was a daughter of a corrupt politician. Her dad was in jail, and her mom had committed suicide. Cristelle’s older sister had connections with the mafia. Yet Cristelle somehow married into the prestigious Bradley house.
They thus guessed that the Bradley House must be corrupt as well.
Thea was so pissed off after reading those analyzing posts online. It was so irresponsible and stupid. She could be sure now that someone was definitely trying to rig these comments.
They sent those vicious guesses on purpose. They meant to destroy her career and family.
They thought dragging the Bradley House down would force the Bradley family to stay away from her. So she would be isolated and helpless.
Cody saw through their tricks as well. He didn’t even want to waste his time cleaning those comments this time.
If those people wanted the Bradley House to push Thea away, then they would give them what they wanted. This was meant to be a trap. As reluctant as Cody was, he still had to ask Thea to stay in a hotel for a couple of days.
