Thea passed out in Drew’s arms.
And then, she had a long dream. That dream involved the woman she tried to chase today.
She remembered her name was Cindy or something similar to that name.
“What happened, sweetie?” That woman was standing by the river bank, looking down at Demi as the girl slowly woke up on the ground.
Demi was completely soaked. She was coughing, choking out water as she struggled to sit up.
“Where’s my Mom? I want Mommy.” Demi cried as she rubbed her eyes with the back of her little hand, “I… I’m cold..”
“Aww… you poor thing.” The woman crouched down, “I just drove by, and I saw you lying on the river bank. So I came to check you out. What’s your name, honey?”
“My… My name is Demi. My dad is Drew Weston, and my Mommy is Fritzi Weston. We were having a picnic when I fell into the river. Cody tried to save me, but he failed. I’m cold and scared. Could you please take me back to my Mommy?”
A cold gleam shone across the lady’s eyes when Dami mentioned her parents’ names. And then, a cold smirk appeared on her beautiful face.
Demi couldn’t explain why, but this woman suddenly looked scary in her eyes.
“Demi Weston? You just said?” That young woman extended a hand to touch Demi’s little cheek, but the girl just flinched.
“You just said your Dad is Drew Weston?” The lady smiled, but the smile didn’t reach her eyes.
Demi suddenly became so scared. She swallowed, “I… Well… You haven’t told me your name yet… lady.”
“Oh, you want to know my name?” The woman smiled brightly, “My name is Cindy. Why don’t you come with me, Demi? I will take you to see your Mom and Dad.”
Demi looked around and only found they were the only two people in this area.
She swallowed and turned to Cindy, slowly shaking her head. “I… I should probably stay here. Mom and Dad will try to find me. They said if I got lost, I should stay at the spot and wait for them to find me.”
The smile on Cindy’s face disappeared. And then, she suddenly pinched Demi’s ear and dragged her toward her car, “YOU WILL DO AS I TOLD YOU! YOU LITTLE BRAT!”
“Aaaah!” Demi screamed, trying to break away from this scary woman, but Cindy had so much strength.
Demi was kicking and screaming. Yet Cindy grabbed her face and smacked her head. The buzz in Demi’s head caused her to freeze.
And then, she was forcefully taken into Cindy’s car.
The drive was probably quite long, Demi was feeling dizzy and sick all the time.
When Cindy brought her into a dim room, Demi realized in horror that she probably would never be able to see her parents again.
Demi was locked in a small room.
The room was empty and cold. There was no one except herself. When that woman left, Demi jumped off her bed and limped over to open the door. But the door was locked from the outside. She wanted to call her parents, but she didn’t even see a phone.
Demi crouched down and balled her small body up, sobbing to herself.
That woman only came back when it was late at night.
She brought a bowl of soup with her and shoved it in Demi’s hands, “Drink it. And your leg will get better.”
Demi looked down and saw the injury on her leg. She probably had hit her leg in the current against a rock. She couldn’t remember.
But the soup…
Demi looked into the bowl. The soup was green, and it smelled weird.
She shook her head frantically, “No! I’m not drinking it!”
The woman took the bowl of soup away and pried Demi’s mouth open, pouring the disgusting soup into her mouth, “YOU WILL DRINK IT!”
The soup tasted horrible. Demi was still coughing and crying after that woman let her go.
“Stop crying!” Cindy snapped, “Cry again, and I will throw you into the lake!”
Demi rubbed her eyes with her little hands, “Why are you doing this to me? Please let me go. My parents are rich. They will give you a lot of money.”
“Money?” Cindy sneered, “You think I need their filthy money? I want them to feel enormous pain. I want them to suffer for the rest of their life!”
The look on Cindy’s face was so scary. Demi hid herself under a blanket immediately.
She wanted to leave this place…
She wanted to see Mom and Dad…
She missed them so much…
So many days passed. Demi didn’t know what that woman’s plan was. She just knew that after drinking the soup, her memories suddenly started to fade. She started to forget a lot of things, Mom’s name, Dad’s face, the color of the dress of the doll Cody sent her as a gift. Who was Cody again?
Everything she remembered seemed to be fogged. And Demi didn’t even know why.
One day, that woman came over to bring her that disgusting soup again.
However, after shutting the door behind her, Cindy suddenly twitched and fell to the floor. The bowl of soup was spilled everywhere on the carpet.
Demi looked at Cindy in horror. Cindy looked pale as she struggled to breathe.
“My pi-pills. Demi… Help… Help me. Grab my pills. They’re… my purse… green bottle.”
Demi blinked and went to grab Cindy’s purse from the table.
And then, she found a keychain in it. She grabbed the fistful of jiggling keys and threw the purse at Cindy.
“Come back!” Cindy breathed, “Back.”
Demi scurried out of the flat after she was unable to use the keys effectively to open the door. She was relentless in her pursuit of speed. Even when people on the street tried to stop her and ask her about what had occurred, she would not stop to answer their questions.
Demi was able to get to a hospital in the end.
After then, she collapsed just in front of the entrance.
