Chapter 489: Her Miserable Story

Book:TEMPTING The Mysterious CEO Published:2024-5-31

Mia and Summer planned to walk around the town a bit the next morning. However, Summer suddenly decided to go out by herself, saying that she needed to visit an old friend.
Mia was a bit suspicious, “I didn’t know you had a friend in this place. Are you telling me the truth right now, Summer?”
Summer smiled, “Why would I ever lie to you? I’ll come back soon. I promise.”
Mia just resigned, “Whatever. Just come back sooner, okay? There’s still one restaurant we haven’t tried yet.”
“It won’t be long,” Summer answered.
It was a lie.
After leaving the hotel, Summer went to Thea’s shooting site directly.
Thea just finished a scene. Her assistants were helping her to take her makeup off.
“Why are you here, Summer?” Thea asked as she looked into the mirror, “Did Mia come with you as well?”
As annoyed as Thea was, she still thought of the girls as young kids. Their hatred was based on nothing, and it was pretty childish. No matter what they did, Thea still wanted to ensure their safety in this city.
“Mia can’t come here.”
Summer obviously lied, “But she wants to see you.”
“She wants to see me?” Thea frowned.
“Yes! Actually, she’s sick today,” Summer kept lying, “She has a fever now. It’s quite serious, actually.”
“What?!” Thea shot up from her chair. She thought for a second and checked out her watch. It was barely 10 am now. It was still three hours before her next scene.
So she decided to ask the director for a break and go check out her sister.
And then, she left the crew without any hesitation, bringing her assistant.
Mia might be childish. But it would break Drew and Fritzi’s hearts if anything bad happened to her.
Summer was happy that Thea fell for her lie so easily. “I’ll lead the way. Our hotel’s not far from here. Just follow me.”
Thea and Daisy thus followed the girl. When they were about to cross the bridge, Summer suddenly picked up her speed. And then they walked into a dark alley. Thea and Daisy exchanged a look, knowing something was not right. They wanted to turn away and leave. However, a couple of guys who wore hoodies suddenly showed up.
They were smiling disgustingly as they surrounded them.
One of them tried to pull Thea in. Summer instantly took out her cell phone and started to take pictures. She wanted to see how Thea’s fans would react after she posted these photos online.
It would be so much fun.
However, before she could start to record, someone suddenly dashed forward and slapped her phone away.
Summer wanted to scream. However, when she looked up, she saw an extremely beautiful face.
At that moment, she couldn’t speak or react.
“Summer! What the heck are you doing?!” Mia’s voice sounded from the distance as she ran over.
Summer went frozen. She turned to those punks she hired. Those guys all got beaten up by Cody, rolling on the ground and crying in pain.
“Mi-Mia. I. She… She tried to give me trouble. She wanted to kill me.” Summer decided to lie. Her tears rolled down her cheeks.
Thea didn’t want to look at this liar bitch anymore. She turned to look at Mia, “Mia, can we talk?”
Mia was extremely ashamed that her best friend did something like this. Mia could only sigh and followed Thea back to her trailer.
It was so embarrassing.
Thea was quite honest about the whole thing, “I bet you also saw what your friend did to me. She’s hanging out with a bunch of bad people. It would help if you were careful when you’re around her from now on. Don’t trust her so blindly after this.”
She knew Mia would never ditch her friend for this. But she couldn’t stop herself from warning her.
Just as Thea expected, Mia’s tone was cold and harsh, “How could you decide that for me? You didn’t even get hurt.”
“Oh… you would regret the whole thing if I got hurt,” Thea said flatly.
“Why?” Mia rolled her eyes, “You can’t think that I’m really taking you as my older sister, can you? Or is it a threat?”
“Nope.” Thea said calmly, “I never expect you to hold any sort of sisterhood love for me. I just don’t want to have Drew and Fritzi’s hearts broken for things like this. They tried so hard to find their daughter back. I feel bad for them.”
“Don’t talk like you’re some sort of God,” Mia hissed, “My parents don’t need your empathy.”
Thea sadly smiled, “I’ve been living with my Mom since I could remember things. The town I came from was rather small. But we couldn’t even afford to buy a house, even in a place so small. We didn’t live a wealthy life. But Mom’s a magnificent cook, and she loves me so much. Mom started to run restaurants in that small town, and her business was getting bigger and bigger. Right at the time when we thought we finally didn’t need to live a hard life, my Mom and Dad suddenly divorced. I didn’t even know why but Dad took everything away from my Mom. He didn’t even leave the house back. To not let me know that I was an adopted daughter, Mom gave up her dream and her house to Dad. So he wouldn’t tell me the secret. I wouldn’t have known that I was adopted until a couple of days ago.”
“Why are you telling me this?” Mia was quite impatient, “I’m not interested in your miserable life story.”
“Well…” Thea walked a little towards her, “I’m not trying to tell you a story. I share this story because I want to let you know that I have my own Mom. I don’t want yours. They will never love me as much as they love you because I didn’t spend the last two decades with them. They only felt guilty, Mia. That’s why they’re giving me their attention. And I’m playing my role as their daughter because I feel bad for them too. I’ve had enough in my life. I’m not interested in taking other people’s parents.”
