Thea sighed, “But Cody will definitely know it from Zara, won’t he?”
“I’m sorry. I didn’t realize that this event would reach our boss.” Daisy smiled sheepishly.
How could she get away from Cody’s interrogation later? Cody would be so mad. She clearly remembered he told her she’d better not go out with any other guy alone. Surely she didn’t go out with Chris or Kevin alone. She went out with three people. She did nothing wrong.
The reality just proved how naive she was. Daisy, who’d been staring at her phone the whole time, suddenly exclaimed, “No… Thea… Those people just caught you on camera. What should we do? So many people are viewing that piece of news. This is so unfair. It’s not even true.”
Thea took the phone and saw a video clip. The clip has only her and Chris in it. Thea remembered this. Jessica and Kevin should have been with them at that moment. However, the person who posted this clip deliberately cut them off.
The title was “Scandalous! Thea Todd Asks Famous Actor Out On a Date”
This was bullshit!
This must be one of Chris’s army accounts! He always wanted to get bundled up with Thea because he started getting fewer media exposure as he grew older. This was disgusting.
Daisy shook her head, “Luckily, you didn’t let him drive you back last night. Or things would have been even worse.”
Thea didn’t say anything. And then, her phone started to buzz. It was a call from Kevin. Kevin called to apologize. He said he shouldn’t have come and taken Thea out last time. He didn’t know that paparazzi were lurking around.
Thea knew he didn’t mean to do that anyway. So she comforted him and said it was okay.
Kevin said, “I will try to clear your name later on Twitter. We were just out to grab a drink. It’s no big deal. It’s just… I don’t know if you and Chris meant to hype the show up using this opportunity.”
Thea didn’t even hesitate, “No. We’re not having any sort of plan. It’s okay. Kevin. I will handle it. You don’t need to worry about it.”
Thea knew it was already quite sweet for Kevin to attempt to clear her name. However, what happened last night was quite complicated. If more things got exposed, all of them would get in trouble.
Kevin knew Thea was saying this because she considered everyone’s safety. He was quite grateful. They exchanged a couple of more words before hanging up the call.
After they hung up, Chris’s call came right in. Thea just ignored it.
However, Chris called again. Thea was so pissed off that she hung up on him directly.
And then, Chris sent in multiple voice messages.
Thea rolled her eyes, resisting the urge to block him.
Soon, the car arrived at Cody’s place. Thea walked upstairs while Daisy stayed in the parlor.
The poor assistant didn’t even dare to face Cody. She didn’t know how Thea mustered the courage to walk up to Cody’s office.
Thea knocked on the door, and Cody told her to get in.
Even his voice sounded angry when he told her to come in.
“Hi… Cody.” Thea forced out a smile, trying to soften her voice, “Wow… I like your shirt. You look so good today.”
“Is this how you change the topic, Thea Todd? Can’t find another way?” Cody looked pretty serious, “We haven’t even got started.”
Thea suddenly got a bit scared as she looked at him.
She sighed deeply, knowing she could only make Cody mad even more if she tried to avoid the issue, “I’m so sorry, Cody. I will never dare to do that again. Actually… It was not a date. I went out with three people. But those paparazzi only caught Chris and me. That was so unfair. They deliberately made things up! They would do anything to make it to the front page and make some noise from trivial matters.”
Cody stood up and walked around his desk. He was so tall that Thea needed to raise her chin to look him in the eyes, “Don’t you tell me you really think it was the paparazzi who did it? Thea Todd.”
Thea blushed and dropped her gaze, “Chris probably planned this kind of lame game. Zara warned me about that man. She said he constantly crafted scandals with his female coworkers so he would get more exposure. I should have been more careful as I’m doing another shoot.”
“If you listened to other people’s advice, this kind of thing would have been avoided,” Cody said coldly, “Are you even taking my words seriously, Thea Todd? Is my warning not important to you?”
“NO!” Thea looked up. “No… I bear your words in mind… It’s just… I was a bit tired yesterday, and my brain didn’t function well when they asked me out. Kevin and Jessica are both my friends, and I trust them. I really didn’t know Chris would take advantage of that… Please…. Cody… Don’t be mad at me.”
Thea knew this time was her fault, so she softened her tone.
Looking at those innocent wide eyes, Cody found himself incapable of blaming this girl for anything she did.
He took a deep breath sharply, “Take three days off before returning to the shooting. I will spare you for this once. If it happens again, you can leave this business industry immediately. I don’t want to do any business without any profits. Do you understand?”
Thea let out a breath. Cody still sounded mad, but he was giving her a second chance. It was already rare for Cody Bradley. She couldn’t expect him to be nice. But she still felt a bit sad getting her boss disappointed.
“I’m really sorry… I will be careful next time.”
Cody couldn’t stand it when she used that sad tone to talk to him.
He cleared his throat, “I’ve used my connections to get the evidence. There must be surveillance footage, including the four of you. The company will take care of the rest. You just go back and get some rest. I didn’t mean to blame you. I just thought you would have been smarter. Just… don’t mention anything about Brandon or Lia. Or we would be in bigger trouble. Now, go.”
Thea nodded, feeling a bit sad as she left Cody’s office.
