Thea finished her part in the movie soon. She was given a long break after that.
That day, Cody invited her over to have dinner. When they were eating, however, a voice message came in. It was from Dylan. “Excuse me,” Thea said as she clicked the message. There were only Candace and Cody around. Thea knew the twins wouldn’t mind.
Dylan’s raspy voice was played clearly from Thea’s phone. He told Thea the shooting of the crew was gonna be over next week. He asked if she had time for the wrap party. Thea was holding her fork and knife. She thus sent a voice message back as well, “Of course. Thanks for noticing me, Dylan. I will be there next week.”
“Okay, see you there, gorgeous.” Dylan sent a message back.
Cody’s brow ticked.
He was okay with the wrap party. But calling Thea gorgeous?
Who did that bastard think he was talking to?
Cody shut his eyes and took a long breath. Calm down, Cody Bradley. That bastard is also your artist… He told himself.
“How could you just let him do that, Thea?” the words that came out of Cody’s mouth were not that calm.
“What?” Thea was in the middle of putting a meatball into her mouth, her eyes widening in surprise, “You mean the wrap party? What’s wrong with that? Everyone goes to the wrap party… It’s not just like me and Dylan were alone there.”
“I know,” Cody put down his fork, “Of course, you can go to the wrap party. I’m just saying the way he talked to you.”
“What way are you referring to?” Thea blinked, and then she blushed as she realized, “You mean the ‘gorgeous’ appellation?”
Cody nodded slightly.
“Cody, you took it wrong.” Candace laughed, “Dylan would even call his stylists’ gorgeous’ You know he’s a full-time flirt.”
Thea nodded eagerly. She had no control over the way Dylan called her.
He did call everyone in a flirty way. Thea didn’t want to appear dramatic over his phrase of addressing her.
Cody took his fork and knife again, knowing he was a bit too strict. But he still asked, “Why did those people let Dylan inform you about the party, though? Does Ben have no assistant to do that task?” He didn’t mean to sound petty. But he was afraid he did sound that way before them.
“Cody, you really don’t need to worry,” Thea said as she looked at him sincerely, “I will keep my distance from those male celebrities. I know how much destruction rumors like that could cause. You don’t need to worry. I will try my best to protect myself from any gossip to not implicate the company’s reputation. It’s just a wrap party. Nothing will happen, I promise.”
Cody just simply looked at her.
Thea couldn’t tell what he was thinking. This man seemed a bit grumpy after she played that voice message from Dylan.
Did he not like Dylan? Thea was confused.
“What are you gonna do tomorrow morning?” Cody asked, trying to make the atmosphere less awkward.
“Oh… I got an ad shoot tomorrow morning,” Thea instantly answered, “Zara signed a contract for that project earlier for it. I’m pretty excited.”
Of course, she was excited to have another project. This was her first time shooting an ad.
“Good,” Cody smiled faintly as he noticed that Thea’s face lit up at the mention of the shooting, “Have more of these crabs. Zoey cooked these, especially for you. She noticed you liked this food very much when you came to eat here last time.”
Thea nodded and smiled.
Candace let out a long breath as she noticed that things seemed to be fixed between these two.
Cody asked Thea to go upstairs with him after the meal. Thea followed him as he led the way.
Cody was so much taller than her. He was wearing a loose shirt tonight, but that didn’t conceal the lines of the muscles on his back.
Thea blushed for no reason.
She couldn’t help but recall that night when Cody patiently explained to her that the girl was not his girlfriend.
What did that even mean? Was he trying to tell her something?
“Ouch…” Thea was too immersed in her own thoughts that she bumped her forehead against Cody’s back while following him.
“I’m sorry.” Thea instantly apologized as she took a step back hastily. When she failed to stand on solid ground, her heart sank horribly. She thought she would fall downstairs. However, Cody’s big hand shot out timely and grabbed her slender figure before she slid down. Thea gasped as she fell against Cody’s strong chest.
Cody sighed, “Can you be careful when you walk?”
“I’m sorry.” Thea pulled away and stuttered, “And thank you.”
His smell filled her nostril, and it was a bit intoxicating.
Gosh… Why did he smell so good? Thea followed Cody into his office with her head lowering.
Cody handed her another script. It turned out he was gonna take her to audition for a historical drama soon.
“Get some rest after the ad. And then, I will take you to the audition. The role suits you,” Cody uttered as Thea flickered through the lines.
“Historical drama?” Thea looked up and asked carefully.
“Yeah,” Cody answered, folding his arms across his chest. “You mentioned that you wanted to try that type of drama last time, right?”
“Thank you!” Thea’s eyes lit up as she pressed the script against her chest, smiling at her boss, “Thank you so much, Cody!”
She just randomly brought that up. She didn’t expect Cody to still remember what she had mentioned.
She was so lucky to have the best boss in the world.
Cody smiled faintly after seeing her joyous reaction, “Don’t thank me, Thea Todd. You deserve the world with your work ethic and kindness. That is just a small role. Now, go back home and get some sleep before you study that script.”
Thea blushed and nodded, leaving the office after uttering her thanks again.
Cody didn’t open the drawer of his desk until the girl had left.
There was a photo of a little girl in his drawer. Demi’s smile was as bright as the sun when he stared at the photo.
The little girl would never come back. Cody thought he treated Thea so well because that girl reminded him of Demi.
However, his feelings for Thea were getting more and more complicated. He didn’t even have the courage to decipher them.
Maybe he should take a break from seeing Thea so he could get his mind clear.
Cody set up a rule for himself. Just one week.
