Drew had the heart to pounce on Linford, but Fritzi suddenly walked downstairs with the girls. She had changed into a light yellow dress, and her makeup was elegant.
Drew looked at her with his mouth hanging open, temporarily unable to take his eyes away.
Paul happened to arrive at the moment as well. Just like Pop said, he looked tall and decent. Everything about him shouted elite and gentleman.
Pop had never looked so happy. “This place is too small. Why don’t you guys go outside and find a cafe so you can have a talk to learn more about each other?”
Paul was a smart man. He smiled at Fritzi charmingly, “Pop’s right. It’s actually about time for lunch. Do you like Japanese food? I know a great place.”
“Japanese food?” Fritzi was interested, “That sounds great, actually.”
“The sake there is amazing. Do you like wine?” Paul held the door open for Fritzi as they walked out of the house. They looked perfect for each other.
Drew was gonna have a heart attack while looking at their fading back.
Drew was deflated. Pop invited him to play chess, but Drew only went to the garden alone, looking sad and gloomy.
Cristelle was a bit worried, “Did we do the wrong thing?”
Linford blinked, “Why?”
“What if Fritzi really decides to choose Paul?”
“It’s her choice then,” Linford said matter-of-factly, “She has the right to choose her boyfriend. She’s been alone in this city. She needs someone.”
Cristelle thought Linford didn’t know Drew’s feelings for Fritzi, “Then what about Drew?”
“What about Drew?” Linford looked at her. “Whatever he ended up with, he deserves it. If he can’t get brave and face his feelings, we can do nothing to help him.”
Cristelle was a bit stunned.
Cristelle sighed, “But you didn’t need to bother to push him off a cliff yourself. I thought he was your best friend.”
Linford smiled, stretched his hands to her facing, gently fondling, “I’m doing this exactly because he’s my best friend. He looks like his soul just escaped his body right now, right? But he still hasn’t made up his mind. If he really wanted Fritzi, he would at least fight for her. How could he still be waiting here like a loser?”
Linford was never merciful when he talked about his friend.
“But…” Cristelle’s mouth hung open, “But what if he tried to confess his love to Fritzi and Fritzi turned him down?”
“Then this would help him walk faster out of the misery and move on. But why would Fritzi turn him down?” Linford held Cristelle’s back, “I’d rather believe that he’s too cowardly to make a move.”
Cristelle hooked her arms around Linford’s waist before looking up into his eyes, “This is so complicated. I don’t even know what to do anymore. Maybe we should leave it to them to figure out their feelings.”
Linford grinned at his beautiful wife, “Yep. And I’m getting a little bit drowsy. Do you want to take a nap upstairs?”
Cristelle pulled away, giggling, “No! Candace just asked me to go to the garden so we can tend the flowers.”
“Oh!” Linford’s hand dropped disappointedly.
Cristelle was not gonna take a nap with him. Linford felt extremely bored. So he went to the greenhouse with Cristelle. Franco was playing chess with Drew.
Drew was clearly not in the mood. He repeatedly lost to the point that Pop got a bit annoyed.
“Doctor Drew, your game sucks,” Cody didn’t hesitate to point out, “You should budge and let me play with Pop.”
Drew was glad to escape, finally giving his seat to the boy.
However, before the boy could sit across from Pop, Linford cut in, “Pop, do you want me to play with you?”
Franco laughed, “I’m not playing with you. Playing chess with you is boring. You only want to win, and you have no mercy for old men like me. You can play with Cody. I will watch.”
Linford cast his son a look, “Wanna play?”
Cody accepted the challenge, “Why not?”
The game thus began.
Drew couldn’t explain why, but after Fritzi and Paul left, he just couldn’t stop feeling anxious. He paced back and forth on the wide pavement before the Bradley mansion for a while and decided to leave.
He didn’t even hesitate as he located the Japanese restaurant Paul mentioned on the GPS when he got in his car.
He felt nervousness creep into his heart, pushing him to feel agitated, but he couldn’t stop this emotion.
How could Linford do this to him? How could he shove Fritzi into another man? That fuckhead looked like a douche.
He was worried about Fritzi.
Yep. They were good friends, and he was worried about Fritzi.
He just wanted to check out Fritzi and ensure she was okay.
Drew’s fingers drummed impatiently on the steering wheel as he waited for the lights to turn green.
Someone suddenly pulled open his car door and sat in. Drew almost jumped in his seat as he jerked around. Cindy was looking at him, smiling sweetly, “Doctor! Sorry, I just saw you over there and just wanted to greet you.”
“Oh,” Drew swallowed. That almost scared the hell out of him.
It was rude not to say anything. So Drew forced out a smile, “Where are you going?”
“My friend asked me out to have Japanese food,” Cindy smiled shyly, “Would you mind giving me a ride? Unfortunately, it’s gonna rain outside.”
Drew looked out of the window. He had been so pissed off about the fact that Fritzi went on a date with another man that he failed to notice how the weather had changed. The sky was covered with heavy grey clouds at this moment.
Kicking Cindy off his car felt inhuman, even though he really had the urge to do it.
“Of course; which restaurant do you want to go to?” Drew asked randomly.
Cindy mentioned the name, and Drew arched an eyebrow.
Of course, Cindy was going to the same spot with Paul and Fritzi out of all the Japanese restaurants in this city.
But deep down in Drew’s mind, a devil is also dancing in a victory dance.
Yay! An excuse!
