Fritzi didn’t expect to run into Drew again at Linford’s house. She felt so uncomfortable when she saw him, but she still needed to pretend that everything was cool.
Linford also didn’t expect Drew to visit at the moment like this, “Why are you here? Not busy in the hospital?”
Drew took a seat, “Nope. I went to your company, but you weren’t there. So I decided to come here,” and then he turned to ask Fritzi, “No hangover after last night?”
Fritzi laughed, “I’m good. You don’t need to worry.”
“What happened last night,” Cristelle asked curiously.
Drew didn’t think much as he answered, “She got herself drunk again last night.”
The air between them suddenly became a bit awkward after Drew said that. Fritzi blushed, and Drew’s mouth hung open as if he suddenly realized that he shouldn’t have said that.
Luckily, Pop walked over at the moment, smiling as he saw the roomful of people, “Drew! You finally came to visit! I’ve been waiting for you. Listen, boy, got some great news to tell you.”
“Really?” Drew turned around, smiling at the old man, “What do you want to tell me, Pop?”
“I saw a very beautiful young lady that day in the hospital. She has a pretty face, and she’s from a great family. She’s definitely your type. I asked other nurses about her.”
“Pop, give me a break,” Drew grimaced, “I don’t want to go on a blind date. You and my grandpa are driving me crazy.”
Franco pulled a face, “Do you want to be single forever, then? Look at Linford, he’s only a couple of years older than you, and he already has a wife and two lovely babies. Your grandpa is sad that he couldn’t have great-grandchildren like me. And you… You don’t even have a girlfriend.”
“It’s not like I’m in a hurry. You don’t need to find a girlfriend for me.” Drew looked a bit depressed.
Franco frowned a bit, taking a short pause, “Do you want me to find you a decent lad then?”
“NO! POP! GOD, NO!” Drew yelled horrifically.
“Then what’s wrong with the girls? You need to give them at least a chance.” Franco was not happy after hearing his answer.
“Pop, could you please have mercy? I really prefer finding my future wife by myself. You really don’t need to bother,” Drew begged.
Pop rolled his eyes, feeling not being appreciated. So he turned to face Fritzi with a warm smile, “I heard you’re also about the right age to get married, Fritzi.”
Fritzi smiled sweetly, “Please don’t mention my age if you still want to be friends with me, Pop.”
Pop smiled apologetically, “Sorry. But I’ve also found you a good man as a partner. He’s a lawyer, and he’s really handsome.”
Fritzi laughed, thinking the old man was quite adorable, “Yeah? How handsome is he?”
Pop pointed at Drew with his cane, “More handsome than this one.”
Fritzi looked interested, “I’m in.”
Linford tried to make the scene more chaotic, “It’s Paul, isn’t it?”
“Yep!” Pop stumped his cane against the floor, “Paul it is. He’s a great guy. Ask Linford if you don’t believe me.”
Fritzi looked at Linford.
Linford took a sip from his morning coffee. “That guy is amazing. He’s been working at our company all the time as the legal adviser. You guys are working on different floors. That’s probably why you haven’t seen him before. He had a girlfriend, but he just broke up recently. It was definitely not his fault. I wanted to introduce you guys to each other a long time ago, but I didn’t really have the time. If you’re interested, I can give your number to him right away.”
Drew clenched his teeth as Linford went on freely about that dickhead lawyer. He thought Linford was his best friend. How could he do this to him?
Linford pretended he didn’t see Drew’s murdering stare.
Pop went even more excited as he noticed that his grandson was also on his side, “Look. Linford also thinks he’s nice. Paul is a great lad. What do you say, Fritzi? It’s not easy to find a reliable man these days.”
Cristelle also tried to persuade Fritzi, “Pop’s right, Fritzi. You need to take a shot, at least. Just give him a chance, and you won’t lose anything.”
Claire had also heard the whole time, “Pop, you should call Paul now. He’s probably free. Let’s hang out first. Fritzi will probably make up her mind after she gets to know him.”
Drew cut in, pulling a face, “Could you guys stop pressuring Fritzi? She hasn’t said she wanted to date anyone yet.”
And then, he raised his mug to cover the lower half of his face, but his eyes had been secretly checking on Fritzi’s reaction.
Fritzi smiled, “Thanks for taking your time to arrange this for me. I would like to try. I believe in your choice of men, Pop.”
Drew almost choked on his mug of tea.
Pop was so excited, “That’s great!
That’s magnificent! I’m calling him right now! Jack! Where’s my phone?!”
Jack found Pop’s phone and dialed the number.
“Hello? Paul? Yep, it’s Pop. Are you free right now? Could you come to Linford’s place in the suburbs immediately? I have great news for you.”
Pop was still smiling after hanging up the phone. His eyes fell on Fritzi, “Christ, Fritzi. Haven’t you put on any makeup this morning? Do you want to glow up a bit before Paul comes?”
Pop was extremely concerned about the outcome of their first meeting.
Fritzi wanted to laugh, thinking the old man’s enthusiasm was cute, “Fine! Cristelle, can I use your makeup products?”
Cristelle pulled at her hand and took her upstairs, “Anything for you, love. Come with me.”
Claire caught up, “Take me with you.”
After Pop and the girls left the parlor, Drew turned to glare at Linford, “What the heck was that?”
Linford was pretty calm as he drank his coffee, “The beginning of a sweet marriage.”
“How could you do that to me?” Drew hissed. He had never looked so pissed before.
“To you?” Linford played dumb, “It was Fritzi’s date.”
“You know I…” Drew looked like he would pull his hair out.
“You what?” Linford blinked, “Fritzi’s about the right age to start her family. She doesn’t have much time to waste. Clearly, she was happy and open to options. Why don’t you feel happy for her? Thought you guys were FRIENDS.”
