“Yep. It is nice. I wanted to go, but Linford wouldn’t allow it. He’s so hard to deal with and quickly rejected my resignation letter.” Fritzi looked out of the window. Her fingers were lacing together as she faked that carefree tone.
She suddenly has a crazy thought at this moment. If she asked Drew to date her instantly, what would he say?
She guessed he would probably look at her as if she was out of her mind and tell her that it was just a one-night stand.
Dudes always did that, didn’t they?
“Yeah… That’s typically Linford. He’s a workaholic, and he expects the world to suit his standards. I sometimes feel bad for Cristelle. It must be miserable to date a boring guy like that.”
Fritzi nodded, “Yep.”
“But Paris is nice,” Drew cleared his throat again, not seeming to be aware of what he was talking about.
Fritzi looked at him curiously. Drew could only swallow the sentence he wanted to say back.
The sentence was supposed to be, “I wish we could go to Paris together.”
But Fritzi would probably laugh at him. She had been drunk when she called him that night. And Fritzi was the career woman type. She didn’t look like a romantic person.
Besides, even though she was the one who called him first, he had been the one who took advantage of her. The lady had been drunk, but he had been sober.
Whenever Drew recalled that night, he still thought he was an animal.
He should have contained himself. If he didn’t fuck it up by failing to resist her that night, he would have had the chance to ask her out for dinner first.
Now… Great.
He was just her booty call.
And he only had himself to blame.
The car arrived at Fritzi’s apartment soon after.
“Do… Do you want me to send you upstairs?” Drew didn’t dare to make any eye contact as he said that.
Fritzi was wearing a tight black dress tonight. And that dress showed her lovely curves, all those curves he had put his hands on that night.
Stop… Drew swallowed. Stop thinking about that night, you fucking horndog.
Before Fritzi could say anything, the screen of Drew’s phone suddenly started to blink.
Fritzi looked up and saw the call was “Cindy.”
Right… She had heard about Cindy in Linford’s office before.
Who was she again? Drew’s girlfriend?
Fritzi suddenly felt a bit of a headache. She cleared her throat, “It’s okay. I can walk up alone. You don’t need to worry.”
“Wait, Fritzi!”
Fritzi didn’t even bother to look back again as she walked into the building.
“See you tomorrow,” Drew murmured to himself as he looked at Fritzi’s back.
Fritzi took the elevator and went straight into her apartment. She felt a bit tired as she slumped against her chair. The apartment felt extremely empty tonight.
She buried her face into her palm and felt wetness in her eyes.
“Fuck me!” She murmured to herself as she stood up from the chair and walked toward the bathroom.

Drew drove to a bar. Cindy was standing at the door, smiling at him. Drew pulled over and got out of his car, walking over, “What’s wrong? You’re okay?”
“Sorry, I was feeling so bored at home. I just want to take a walk outside,” Cindy smiled, “I didn’t mean to bring you so much
trouble.”
“Where are those guys?” Drew looked pretty pissed off.
Cindy had told him on the phone that she was harassed in the bar. She had sounded like she was gonna cry. That was why he came here instantly after hanging up the phone.
Cindy cleared her throat, “I called the police. They took them away.”
“They’ve been taken away?” Drew frowned, “Why didn’t you go with them? I thought the police would usually take away the victim as well.”
“Oh…” Cindy blinked, “It was Officer Charles. He thought I needed to get some rest. So…”
“I see. I’m glad you’re fine,” Drew held the car door open, “Get in the car. I’m sending you home.”
“Okay,” Cindy blushed as she sat on the passenger’s seat.
Drew drove her home.
“Do you wanna get in my place and take a seat? I baked some cookies before leaving,” Cindy invited.
“I don’t think so. My grandpa needs my company at home. He’s been quite sick lately. Maybe next time,” Drew declined politely.
Cindy cleared her throat, “Then… Could you wait for a second? They’re really good. I just want you to have some. I’ll go upstairs and wrap some for you. You wait here.
“No, no, no… I’m fine… You don’t need to….”
Before Drew could finish the sentence, however, Cindy had already jumped off the car. Drew could only wait outside.
Cindy came down pretty fast, handing Drew a package, “Here, take it. They’re still warm. Nothing beats hot chocolate and freshly baked cookies on a winter night,” Cindy went a bit blushed as she handed the cookies to him. She didn’t even dare to look up into his eyes.
“Thank you,” Drew took the cookies confusingly, not quite understanding why she was blushing, “That’s really sweet of you.”
“You’re welcome,” Cindy closed the door, “Drive safe.”
Drew still felt a bit weird as he slowly drove the car out of the driveway. He really didn’t know how to feel about this.
When he got to Mr. Weston’s house, the old man had already fallen asleep. Drew thus walked quietly to his room. He took a quick shower and lay on his bed.
A message burped in when he threw himself onto the bed. It was from Cindy.
“Are you home right now? How are the cookies?”
Drew decided to pretend that he had fallen asleep. He could reply to this message tomorrow morning.
He grabbed his phone for a second and thumbed out a message to Fritzi.
“You up?”
Fritzi’s message came in almost in a second, “Netflix.”
Drew smiled at his phone like an idiot, “It’s late. You’re drunk, and you still need to do some work tomorrow. You need to go to sleep.
Fritzi frowned at the message, feeling weird, “Fine. Dad.”
Drew typed back, “Say, ‘Yes, Doctor.”
Fritzi rolled her eyes and threw away the phone. But she couldn’t stop smiling as she buried her face into the pillow.

Fritzi was late for work the next morning. She thus asked for a day’s break and went to Cristelle’s place.
She desperately needed someone to talk to right now.
And that person had to be Cristelle.
