Cristelle was stunned and lost for words. She took a step back.
Mrs. Weston sighed, “Mrs. Donny, could you please compose yourself a bit? This is the school infirmary. There are others…”
Dana snapped, “Why should I compose myself? Don’t you think you didn’t do your job as the Dean of the school? How could you neglect something as serious as this? Or do you just let some powerful people do whatever they want on purpose?”
Cristelle knew what she was trying to emphasize. Dana was basically calling Mrs. Weston an ass-kisser at this point.
Cody couldn’t bear it anymore. He took a step forward, “Ma’am, would you mind watching your mouth? My sister didn’t hurt anyone on purpose. Debby was the one who fell over and was hit by the scissors accidentally. Why don’t you ask your daughter when she wakes up before jumping to the conclusion so soon? I know you’re upset, but you need to analyze everything before yelling at people.”
“Are you telling me to watch my mouth, boy? Do you have any…” Dana’s face fell.
Cristelle pulled Cody back as Linford cut Dana off. “My son is right. We can only find the truth when Debby wakes up.”
Dana glanced at Linford, swallowing the words she wanted to retaliate. As angry as she was, she still didn’t dare to mess with the Bradley family.
Debby was in anesthesia. She didn’t wake up after school.
The parents of the two families thus decided to solve this problem on another day.
Candace still looked quite defeated after she went back home. She put her scissors and needles in the drawer, secretly deciding that she would never use them again.
Franco brought Candace a lot of toys and snacks, trying to cheer the little girl up. Cody also read his sister some stories, telling her repeatedly that it was not her fault.
However, both Cristelle and Linford didn’t expect the thing to show up on the news at night. Those journalists said Anton Donny’s daughter was bullied in school. And the bully was a rich kid from a powerful family.
It was just an accident, and it was no big deal. But those people just had to make things up.
Linford was furious. He sent his men to investigate the whole thing immediately. Whoever spread the news had pushed it too far.
Linford would never allow people to hurt Candace that way.
Linford and Cristelle sent the babies to school together the next morning.
Candace saw Debby from a distance. She ran over immediately, hugging Debby, “Does it still hurt, Debby?”
Debby shook her head, “It doesn’t hurt anymore.”
Candace took a long breath and zipped open her bag, taking out a small bag of snacks, “I saved my favorite snacks for you. I hope you will like them.”
Debby smiled as she saw the cute bag. It was pink. And pink was her favorite color, “Thank you, Candace.”
“You’re welcome. I should have kept an eye on my things. I’m sorry that my scissors cut your brow,” Candace apologized sincerely.
“It’s okay, Candace,” Debby smiled, “I should’ve been more careful. Are you still gonna make little dresses today?”
Candace shook her head, “It’s too dangerous. I don’t want to make them anymore.”
Debby seemed a bit disappointed, “It’s a pity. However, I still want to see you make those dresses. You’re a great designer like your Mom, Candace.”
Candace shook her head before she grabbed Debby and Amy’s hands, walking toward the classroom, “Making dresses is dangerous. We can play puzzles at school. Debby, you need to be really careful not to get water in your wound.”
Debby nodded, “Okay, I’ll be careful.”
The conflict between kids was much easier to dissolve. Candace was also glad that she had a new friend.
Cody didn’t feel worried as he noticed that Debby and Candace were still friends. He turned to look at Cristelle and Linford, “I can take care of Candace. You guys should just go.”
Linford nodded and took Cristelle to Mrs. Weston’s office.
Anton and Dana were both waiting there.
Anton walked forth when he saw Linford, “Mr. Bradley, what is with that news about school bullying? Who did that to smear the fact?”
Linford smiled coldly, “And you’re asking me right now.”
Anton took a step back, “I… really don’t know what happened. I don’t even know who spread that stupid thing on the internet. Debby woke up last night when we went back home. She said she hurt her brow because she fell over. It was never Candace’s fault. I really didn’t know who wrote the news to plant everything on your daughter.”
Dana cut in pretty fast, “I bet it must be one of those other ignorant parents. They spread rumors without knowing the truth.”
Anton agreed, “That’s right! It must be one of them.”
Cristelle could tell it was definitely not them because they explained so eagerly.
“The whole thing is not that hard to explain. You only need to post a statement online, and people will get over with it soon,” Linford said flatly, “And… If you encounter any problems during work, you can come to find me, and I will solve them for you.”
The Bradley House was extremely powerful in this country. Anton had to be a fool to turn this down.
He answered immediately without a second thought, “Of course. My assistant will post the statement soon.”
Linford nodded, “Okay. I guess the problem has been solved. You guys should return home too.”
Linford still had something to talk to Mrs. Weston.
Before the Donny couple left the office, Dana suddenly cast Cristelle a glance. Her eyes were filled with hatred and jealousy. Cristellevwas startled by those sharp stares.
And then, she felt weird. She didn’t even do or say anything. Why did this woman suddenly look at her this way?
“You want to talk to me, Linford?” Mrs. Weston asked confusingly.
“Yeah. I just want to get more information about the parents of the kids in Candace’s class,” Linford ordered.
He had sent Alfred to investigate those parents a long time ago. But Alfred was away now. He could only come here to ask by himself.
Mrs. Weston rummaged in the drawer under her desk and gave Linford a name list.
“Most of the parents are important political figures or businessmen. I don’t think they would be stupid enough to do something terrible to Candace because they all know Candace is your daughter.”
