Tanya had never managed to get into Linford’s mansion even once.
She knew even Darwin couldn’t get in that easily. All her plans just went in vain.
Darwin sighed and stood up from his chair, holding her shoulders and pulling her in, “Don’t be sad. I know how much you care about the little girl.”
She didn’t care if Darwin knew it or not.
Tanya squeezed out drops of tears, “Darwin, I just thought it through. The babies can’t live without their mother. They are too small. Besides, Linford is also there taking care of them. Nothing wrong will ever happen. I’ll stay in my place and stay out of their business from now on. Guess God just won’t let me have any babies to take care of and love.” And then, she started acting miserable.
She had married Darwin when she was in her prime. She married him for his power and money. But Darwin was getting old. If, one day, he passed away and left her behind, she wouldn’t even have anyone to keep her company. She just wanted a baby to love.
Darwin cooed, “Don’t think that way, silly. Candace and Cody still take you as their grandmother. They are all yours.”
Tanya wiped her tears with the back of her hand, “You don’t need to comfort me. It must also be quite difficult for you.”
Tanya knew acting sweetly would make Darwin feel bad for her even more.
And just as she expected, Darwin sighed and lowered his body, holding her tightly in his arms.

Meanwhile, inside an exquisite suite of a hotel, Clara and Mrs. Wayne were sitting at a table face to face.
Mr. Wayne looked pale, “You just said… That Giselle killed herself? How did that happen? If the police found out, they would think our house did this to her. But… for God’s sake, we don’t even know who she was. Why did she insist that it was us? Clara, what should we do now?”
Clara was sipping from her cup of coffee gingerly, seeming quite calm at the moment.
These people were all so fucking useless. She screamed silently.
“What should you do? Those people will think that your house killed her anyway. Maybe you should just admit it,” Clara put her coffee down on the desk.
“Admit what?” Mrs. Wayne raised her voice, “We didn’t even do it! We also didn’t send her to cripple Mr. Bradley’s baby! We’re not idiots. Besides, you called me out and said you’ve got a solution. Don’t tell me this is your solution!”
Clara smiled coldly, “I’m not making things up. Giselle said to herself that it was your house that sent her to cripple Candace. She ran away from the hospital to seek your protection. But you guys denied your crime. And now, she was found drowning in the river. Your house will be the major suspect when the police deepen the investigation.”
Mrs. Wayne clenched her teeth, “What the heck is this? She came to seek help for no reason. I wouldn’t have called you to discuss the whole thing if I had a clue. How could you just plant the whole thing on me? Have you never wanted to help us, have you? I don’t care how the police gonna investigate the whole thing. But you can’t make us admit something we’ve never done! They will find out the truth sooner or later.”
And then, thudding her cup of coffee against the table, Mrs. Wayne stood up from her chair and was ready to leave.
“Wait!” Clara’s voice was cold and clear, “I’m afraid you just have to make your maid take the blame this time, Mrs. Wayne.”
“What do you mean?”
Clara didn’t seem panicked at all. She reclined in her chair leisurely, “That piece of land you got in the suburb. You guys didn’t get it by legal procedures, did you? I heard Mr. Wayne wanted to build a mall on it. If people get to know about that, I guess your house just has to get the fuck out of the city.”
Mrs. Wayne went completely pale, “Are you threatening me right now?”
“I’m just telling the truth, Mrs. Wayne,” Clara said coldly, “What? You still don’t want to sit down and talk after hearing what I just mentioned?”
Mrs. Wayne had no choice but to sit down, “Why did you have to make the Wayne House take the blame?”
Clara smiled, with no plan of explaining everything.
Mrs. Wayne suddenly realized what she was doing, “It was you! Isn’t it? You sent Giselle to cripple the poor little girl. And this was only a part of your plan. You can’t wait to find someone to take the blame because you don’t want Linford to find out that you were the one who tried to cripple his daughter!”
Clara shrugged, “Sounds interesting. But do you have any evidence? Giselle went to see you, but she’d never seen me before. Why would the police take me as the suspect over you?”
“You’re a snake!” Mrs. Wayne clenched her teeth.
“Don’t get sentimental, Mrs. Wayne,” Clara instantly growled, “If I were you, I would take the time to make a smart decision. Your maid or your family wealth, choose one.” Clara evilly smiled, tapping her hand on the coffee table, adding, “Tick Tock! Tick Tock! Time is running.”
With that, she stood up from her chair and walked away.
“Is this how you did it?” Mrs. Wayne hissed resentfully, “Is this how you used my Zoe?”
Clara faltered. And then, she turned around, smiling sarcastically.
“Yeah,” She admitted without shame, “And I thought her granny would be less stupid.”

Candace had a nice sleep, and she didn’t wake up until noon. When she opened her eyes, she saw her Mom immediately. The little girl stretched out her arms and let out a big smile.
“Sleepyhead,” Cristelle pinched her nose, “It’s time for lunch.”
Candace closed her eyes as Cristelle wiped her face with a warm wet towel. She didn’t need to have her leg lifted now. She could eat her meals by herself.
Lily brought the food in, “Candace seemed to sleep quite soundly last night. The girl must feel much safer after coming back to you, Mrs. Bradley.”
“Lily… You can just call me Cristelle.” Cristelle frowned a bit at the way Lily addressed her.
Lily only smiled without any words.
