Drew cast Linford a curious look, “Wait… You haven’t even told her this?”
Linford wanted to tell her when he came back. But she said she cooked him a meal, and his whole pitch was changed.
He felt so awkward, but he still managed to keep a straight face, “Yeah. Pamela was the one who sent the doctor to break Candace’s leg.”
Cristelle stood up from her chair, looking extremely pissed off, “I need to see her now! I must ask her why she did that to Candace!”
Why did Pamela hate her so much? She didn’t even do anything against her.
For the first time in her life, Cristelle had the urge to kill someone.
Linford stopped her and pulled her in his arms, “She did those nasty things because she’s jealous of you.”
Cristelle went blushed, but she still asked, “That’s exactly what makes me confused. Looking at my current situation, I’m still miserable. Why is she jealous of me? I have nothing except my babies.”
“You still have me,” Linford’s eyes were full of brightness as he looked down at Cristelle. The look on his face was pretty serious. He didn’t look like he was joking.
What… What did he even mean?
Having him?
Cristelle had to admit that her life had improved after she met this man. But she had almost gotten killed by a snake.
How did he manage to say that her life got better because of him without feeling embarrassed? Cristelle looked away, blushing even more furiously.
Drew shuddered. When did Linford learn how to flirt?
Still, having him? Seriously?
This man had no shame.
“Cough!” Drew cleared his throat, so Cristelle and Linford looked in his direction, “So, what are you gonna do with Pamela later on?”
“If Diego came here to seek trouble, just bring him to Conner,” Linford smiled mischievously.
“Why?” Drew arched an eyebrow, “Do you want to show him the evidence so he will give up?”
“You don’t need to ask. Just bring him to Conner,” Linford shrugged.
“Fine.” Drew shook his head before leaving the bedroom. Cristelle and Linford thus became the only people left in the room.
“Can I go see Candace today?” Cristelle asked carefully as she made sure Drew had left.
Linford shook his head, “I told you it depends on your performance.”
“Am I not performing well today?” She even cooked him a meal.
“Who were you calling before I walked in the room, Cristelle?” Linford asked with a smile on his face.
Cristelle went frozen, “Well… It was a call from Jasper. But he only called because he was worried about me. It’s not like…”
Linford sighed and put a hand on her hair, “It’s not what I’m trying to say, Cristelle. I simply hope you would trust me enough not to hide the caller away from me. I’m probably more reasonable than you imagine. Can you be honest with me next time?”
Linford’s tone was gentle. But Cristelle still felt like an errant child. She clenched her teeth. But to see Candace again, she still spat out a “Fine!”
Linford smiled and leaned forward, leaving a gentle kiss between her brows before walking out of the room.
Cristelle’s hands shot to cover the place where he kissed her, her face completely red.
What the heck was that?!

When Linford got to Candace’s ward, the girl had woken up. She was FaceTiming her Mom again.
Linford sat with the girl for a while and then decided to visit his grandpa.
Pop seemed pretty happy after knowing that Pamela had been caught. The old man patted Linford’s shoulder, smiling, “I felt so much better after knowing that person has been caught. Don’t let them brush it off easily. I need you to make them pay for what they did.”
Linford smiled, “I have the same thought, Pop.”
Franco sat straight on his bed, “I just went to see Candace. She’s just a little baby. She needs her Mom. Now that you’ve caught the bad guy, maybe it’s time to let Cristelle come back.”
“I still need to wait, Pop,” Linford said with a straight face, “She made a mistake this time. I need to make sure that she has learned.”
Mr. Daiz shook his head, smiling. Linford was clearly still trying to protect Cristelle. He wouldn’t expose Cristelle to any danger so easily.
Pop shook his head as well, “Okay. Just handle the whole thing the way you see fit.”
“I know what to do, Pop. You don’t need to worry about it,” Linford took a sip from his cup of coffee, “The hospital will be a bit chaotic lately. I’ll take Candace back to my house. You should also come with us. Just in case someone will be here to seek any trouble.”
Someone would be here to try to persuade them to take it easy with those people soon. Linford didn’t want to waste any time listening to their pleading then.
Pop thought for a while, “Actually, you and Candace can also stay at my place.”
“Your place is nice. But you tend to let anyone get in your house easily, Pop. I don’t want some unsolicited guests,” Linford kept a straight face.
Pop knew Linford was talking about Darwin.
The old man shook his head. When would the father and the son learn to get along? “Franco, just listen to Linford. We’re just two old men. Getting less worried is good for us,” Mr. Weston suddenly suggested.
Pop sighed deeply and nodded.
Clara and Tanya came to his room often, and he also got a bit annoyed by them recently.

Candace was so excited as she learned she was about to see her Mom soon. She missed her so much.
Lily and Mrs. Weston also felt less worried now. Linford should’ve let the baby see her Mom a long time ago.
So, that evening, Candace and Pop got in the car to return to Linford’s mansion.
“What? They went to Linford’s place?” Darwin looked up instantly as he heard the news. He threw his pen away.
Tanya was sitting on a chair next to his desk, her eyes puffy and red, “Yes… I wanted to visit Pop and Candace, but they’d been discharged when I got there. Those doctors told me that they had left for Linford’s mansion.”
She could never find any excuse to see the baby if Linford took her away.
