Jasper detected the change in her tone, changing his attitude as well, “I get it now. Stop saying sorry, Cristelle. I should feel sorry for you. If I didn’t insist on seeing you, those things wouldn’t have happened. I won’t go find you anymore. You just take your time and get your problems fixed, okay? I can handle the studio by myself.”
Before she could say anything politely, Cristelle suddenly heard footfalls out of the door. So she said to Jasper instantly, “Okay. I gotta go.”
And then, she hung up the phone.
Linford almost walked in at the same time.
“Who are you talking to?” Linford asked deliberately.
“A friend,” Cristelle cleared her throat, “Why did you come back so early?”
Linford shrugged off his suit jacket, not saying anything.
The silence in the room lasted for a couple of seconds. Cristelle lowered her gaze and fiddled with her phone for a while before she suddenly asked, “Have you eaten anything?”
“What?” Linford faltered, not quite believing what he had just heard.
“I just cooked some dishes. And I left some for you. Do you want to have some? I can heat them up for you if you haven’t eaten anything.” Cristelle trailed off, going blushed.
Linford stares at the woman for a while. And then, a warm smile appeared on his lips, “Sounds great. Thank you, Cristelle.”

When Cristelle took the food upstairs, Linford opened the secret room door. He turned on the light this time, calling Cristelle to get in.
So there was light? Cristelle was a bit speechless. She had been so scared last time. She didn’t even manage to find the light. Cristelle walked toward Linford and stood beside him, facing the giant black-and-white photo on the wall.
“Clyde, Cristelle just cooked me some food. She’s taking care of me now,” Linford smiled gently toward the young man in the photo, “It’s been a while since the last time I came to visit you. Pop said I should take the babies to visit you, but a lot of things have happened lately, and I really didn’t have the time. When Cody comes back, I will take the babies here to see you.”
Cristelle’s mouth dropped open as she heard Linford speak to the photo. And then, Linford suddenly pulled her in, “And this is Cristelle. She’s my wife and your sister-in-law.”
Cristelle wanted to pull away, but she somehow thought this was important to Linford. So she didn’t resist, only trying to explain to the photo on the wall, “C-Clyde, right? Don’t get it wrong. I’m not your younger brother’s wife. We just have twins together, and we probably will separate our…”
“Separate? I don’t think we will ever separate, Cristelle,” Linford looked quite serious, “Cristelle, actually… I…”
“Linford! Linford?! Where are you?!” Drew’s voice carried through the door.
Cristelle felt her heart was gonna jump out of her mouth, pushing Linford away, “Come on. We need to go out and take a look. Something probably happened.”
Linford seemed to have gone mad. He looked like he wanted to kill someone.
He clenched his teeth and walked out of the room.
Drew just came back from the living room again. He was startled as he saw Linford and Cristelle appear in Linford’s bedroom from nowhere. His mouth dropped open, “How- Where did you guys…”
Linford’s face darkened, “Why are you here, Drew?”
Drew touched his chest subconsciously. Why was Linford looking so scary?
Cristelle just took a seat on the couch, keeping herself really quiet.
“What happened?” Linford frowned.
Drew cleared his throat, “Giselle died.”
“Died?” Linford’s eyebrows jumped, “When did that happen?”
“A couple of hours ago. She ran out of the hospital, and she somehow decided to throw herself into the river.” Drew sighed, “She managed to run away. My men failed to capture her.”
Giselle killed herself?
Cristelle had never expected anything like that to happen.
Linford had told her about Cindy’s twin sister a while ago.
“But… Why would she do that? I mean, she’s probably gonna be thrown in jail, but that is still better than being dead.” Cristelle couldn’t believe what she had just heard.
“Who did she see before she killed herself?” Linford asked.
Drew dropped his gaze, “We tried to search all the surveillance footage. She jumped into the river after seeing Mrs. Wayne’s maid.”
“What?” Cristelle’s eyes widened, “So, was it Mrs. Wayne who planned all this chaos? But we’ve analyzed the facts. The Wayne house wouldn’t be so dumb to put their family into a dilemma.”
“Yeah. They wouldn’t be so dumb. But someone must have paid them to take the blame.” Linford frowned deeply.
Drew sat down on the couch, “They must have been paid very well by the culprit behind them. The price’s got to be good enough to make them destroy themselves.”
Linford smirked, “Maybe they’re not paid. They just got threatened. That person probably knows something, and he decided to use that to blackmail the Wayne House.”
Drew was confused, “What about the Wayne House was so secret that it could be used to blackmail them?”
Cristelle also looked at Linford curiously.
However, Linford didn’t give them the answer directly. On the contrary, he threw a question back at Drew, “Are you still watching that person I asked you to?”
Drew’s heart sank as he heard Linford’s question, guessing the possibility immediately, “Yeah, I’ve been watching her. Do you really think she’s suspicious?”
“Yeah. And I believe there will be a piece of evidence soon,” Linford didn’t look bothered at all.
On the contrary, he looked extremely confident.
Cristelle looked at Linford and then at Drew, “Are you guys communicating with some coded language? Can anyone explain to me what’s going on a little?”
Drew shook his head, knowing keeping the whole thing a secret would be good for anyone.
Linford thought for a while and said, “Things will get clear in a couple of days later. And you shall know the truth by then.”
It seemed like these two would keep the secret no matter what. Cristelle knew she couldn’t force them to say anything. If they were planning to do something, she didn’t want to be the one who ruined their plan.
“Oh, by the way, the police have got Pamela. The Barnett House will react soon. Do you wanna go to them and take care of the whole thing?” Drew suddenly asked Linford.
“Pamela? It’s her?” Cristelle was so surprised. She didn’t expect this at all.
