Linford already had enough on his plate. He really didn’t want to handle these people right now. He thus dropped his gaze, ignoring them completely.
Tanya and Clara noticed the tension. They didn’t even dare to say anything.
“I heard what your brother said. Cristelle’s probably not gonna make it this time,” Darwin sat beside Linford uninvitedly, looking at the babies, “Cody and Candace are just kids. They can’t be here with you all day, every day. They need rest. Just let me take them back so we can take care of them when you take care of Cristelle.”
Darwin was quite earnest as he said this. Cristelle was gonna die anyway. She only had a couple of days left. He didn’t want to be angry with her anymore.
“I’m not leaving with you!” Cody shot up from his seat and screamed. Candace shuddered, waking up in Linford’s arms.
“Did you hear that? They won’t leave with you. Stop playing any tricks, father. I’m so sick and tired of this. You’re not welcome here,” Linford turned away, “Alfred, send them to leave.”
Alfred smiled politely, “Mr. Bradley, Mrs. Bradleys, please leave. Boss is not in a very good mood right now.”
Darwin had never felt so humiliated, “Linford, what the heck is this attitude?”
Linford didn’t even bother to look at him. Tanya put an exquisitely wrapped box down, “Nancy made some desserts for the kids. They are all Candace’s favorites. If you don’t want the kids to leave with us, at least keep these so Candace can have some snacks later.”
Candace didn’t even react to that.
“Take it back. They don’t need them,” Linford turned down Tanya’s food.
“Well…” Tanya looked embarrassed.
Clara took a step forward, “Linford, I know you’re feeling sad right now. But Tanya’s only worried about Candace and Cody. She cares about them so much. How could you just turn her down? It will break her heart.”
Clara was here to check out the result. She felt extremely peaceful when she saw Cristelle Friesley lying in a bed that looked lifeless. Right now, she was just playing, kind of defending Tanya. And she meant to tick Linford off again so his relationship with Darwin would be tense forever.
The man sitting on the bench before her looked gaunt from exhaustion and fatigue, his handsome face stubbled and sad. Clara’s heart was wild with jealousy the moment she saw him.
How good that bitch was to deserve Linford Bradley’s love? She was just a mere peasant.
“We don’t need these,” Cody didn’t want to be polite around these people anymore, as he stood up, “Take them back and leave. Mommy’s sleeping. You’re interrupting her.”
Even the boy dared to talk to him like this now. Cody must have been influenced by his dad!
Darwin was so pissed off, “Cody? How could you say that to your grandmother? She’s only worried about you. That’s why she made those desserts for you. This is rude.”
Cody looked at the two women again. They were wrapped in their fancy dresses, wearing their expensive heels. They didn’t look like they were here to visit their mother. They looked like they were here for a fashion show.
The boy looked away in disgust, “Stop trying so hard with me and my sister. You will never replace Mom. It’s so fucking fake.”
“Language, Cody,” Linford frowned, but he was glad his boy could see through the truth so brutally. He would be such a successful businessman when he grew up.
Cody’s words cut Tanya like a knife. All her efforts until now served to cast Cristelle away so she could possess the babies.
Cody didn’t even want to give the old witch the tiniest chance.
“You… Cody… I didn’t mean to… I didn’t…” Tanya still pretended to be wrong deeply even though the boy had seen through her intention. She pretended to be sad, dabbing her non-existent tears under her eyes.
Darwin bellowed, “Who taught you this, boy?!”
Cody scoffed, little arms folded before his chest, “I don’t need to learn it from anyone. You guys are so eager that you can’t be more obvious. You can’t wait to make my Mom disappear so you guys will adopt Candace and me, can you?”
Candace’s mouth dropped open as she turned to look at Darwin. She thought Grandpa was a great person.
“You… You guys are too tiny to know better. Grandpa will never do anything to harm you.” Darwin tried to explain.
Tanya pulled Darwin’s arm, “Honey, we should probably go. Just let them stay here as they want.”
Darwin had never got what he wanted from his second son. He meant to see his grandchildren, but he got rejected again. He had already been so pissed off after being treated like that. But he thought Cristelle was going to die soon anyway, so he forgave them.
“Forget about it. Let’s leave,” Darwin rose and ruffled Cody and Candace’s hair. Cody dodged with a disgusted look on his face. Candace also mirrored her brother.
Darwin was so embarrassed and pissed off as he walked away, “Let’s go!”
Tanya and Clara followed.
“Don’t let them get in again,” Linford cast a glance at Alfred.
“Of course, sir.”

After leaving the hospital, Darwin went to the army directly, leaving only Clara and Tanya in the car.
Tanya signed, “Did you see those kids? They didn’t even want to look me in the eyes.”
Clara smiled, “What are you anxious about, Tanya? Cristelle’s dying anyway. After she dies, the babies will be yours anyway.”
“But what if she doesn’t die?” Tanya looked out of the window, “Darwin made a phone call that day, saying that Enzo had told Cristelle’s situation to Frank. Frank just invented the newest antivenom. He’s sending that back in days. Cristelle can probably wake up with that.”
“New antivenom?” Clara’s heart thumped.

When they went back to their house, Clara called Zoe immediately.
“How was it? Is that bitch dying?” Zoe sounded so excited. But Jasper had been walking around that hospital for days. She felt both jealous and excited. She only wished that Cristelle’s slut could die now. So Jasper could lose all his hope and be with her forever.
Clara coughed, “Don’t be too happy so soon. Frank just mailed them the newest antivenom. I’m afraid Cristelle will be awake soon. Once she’s safe, you’ll achieve nothing. This is your last chance.”
“What?” Zoe sounded stunned, “But… How?”
Clara hung up the phone.
