Candace nodded, eyes falling into her brother’s face, pleading silently.
Cody shook his head, “Candace, you can’t be this soft all the time. People will bully you. Fine! Forget about it. If Tylor and Betty would apologize to my sister sincerely, I will let them go.”
“Of course, no problem!” Tim hurried as he forced his son to kneel as well. Tylor was so terrified that he couldn’t think anymore. He said his apology immediately.
Marcos was a bit hesitant. His daughter had always been a proud girl. It was hard for her to apologize to anyone.
Cody looked up at Betty. “What are you waiting for?”
Marcos instantly said, “Cody, can I apologize for my daughter?”
He didn’t have the heart to force her daughter to apologize.
Cody looked away, his tone as cold as his father’s, “So you’d rather have your tongue cut off?”
The tall man went to grab Betty again. Betty started to scream.
Marco tried to pull his daughter, “Stop! What are you doing?!”
“What the heck are you guys doing?!” The voice of an old female suddenly sounded.
An old lady with a shock of white hair like a dandelion walked into the office. She was clad in a blue dress, having a pair of gold-wire glasses on her nose. Everyone could tell that she must have been shockingly beautiful when she was young.
“Granny!” Betty rushed toward the old lady as soon as she saw her, acting as if she had finally found someone to rely on.
The old lady was the senior and head of the White House, Ann.
The seniors of the Wayne house followed her.
Tim acted like he was saved the moment he saw Mr. Wayne, “Grandpa! You’re finally here!”
Tylor rushed toward the old man, crying his eyes out.
Mr. Wayne cursed under his breath, “Coward!”
Tim was afraid of his grandpa most. He didn’t dare to utter any words, knowing he had brought shame to his family name.
Ann took her seat beside Franco, fixing her glasses as she looked in Cody and Candace’s direction, “Are these your babies? They look beautiful.”
Franco laughed, “I know. They looked exactly like Linford when he was tiny, didn’t they?”
Ann secured Betty in her arms, “I remember how naughty Linford was when he was just a boy. He almost ruined my whole garden.” With that, she cast a loving look at Linford.
Linford realized what she was doing. Ann meant to brush the whole thing off to defend her great-granddaughter.
Cody also had the same feeling. This old lady looked gentle and elegant, but she gave off a weird vibe he didn’t like.
“Pretty one, can I hold you for a while?” Ann put Betty down, extending her arms at Candace.
Candace had never seen her before. She was extremely shy in a situation like this.
Linford had no intention of letting his daughter go, “Candace doesn’t like strangers.”
Ann didn’t seem offended as she let out an elegant smile.
“Granny, they… they wanted to cut my tongue. I was so scared.” Betty cried, her face red, and her tears streamed down her face.
Ann brushed her cheeks with her fingers, “They were just joking. Franco and Mrs. Weston are both here. They were just playing with you.”
Tim and Marcos only realized now that it was all fake. Was Linford Bradley trying to make them look like fools? But how come his acting was so convincing?
Cody looked away. He didn’t feel comfortable being seen through. He only wanted to scare Betty and Tylor. He knew Candace would beg for mercy for them anyway.
Marcos lowered his gaze and saw those red marks on his forearm. They were left with red ink. It was just acting.
Tim was so embarrassed thinking back about how he reacted. He wished the floor could swallow him up.
Mr. Wayne was even more embarrassed. How could this grandson of his be such a coward?
“Candace, Cody, Tylor has apologized. Could you guys forgive them now?” Mr. Wayne asked.
Candace nodded. She had forgiven them.
Cody said lazily, “As long as they watch what they say from now on. And they need to stay away from my sister. Or I’ll beat them whenever I see them around.”
This time, Tylor had been thoroughly daunted, “… I won’t say anything against your sister anymore.”
Mr. Wayne compared Cody and Tylor secretly, letting out a sigh. The boy from the Bradley house was fierce and articulate. He might be a bit vicious for his age, but this was what it took to be a successful businessman.
On the contrary, his great-grandson was as soft as a piece of cotton. He might be a bully, but he only dared to bully those who were weaker than him.
The Wayne house was surely falling once this young lad ruled out the business world in the future. Mr. Wayne realized that the young boy resembled his father, Linford.
“I’ve contacted a foreign school. Tylor will transfer abroad next week. And he can only come back when he grows up.” Mr. Wayne suddenly announced. He couldn’t let the boy stay with their parents anymore. It would only corrupt his young mind.
Tylor didn’t know what that meant, but Tim knew it very well, “Grandpa! Please don’t do that. Tylor is just five. He doesn’t know anything. You can’t force us apart.”
“Shut up!” Mr. Wayne growled, “Don’t tell me what to do!”
With that, he turned toward Franco, smiling, “Sorry for what happened today, Franco.”
Franco smiled back, “Please don’t say that, old people should stay away from this little quarrel between kids. As long as my great-grandchildren are alright, I will be glad. This is the only thing I care about.”
Those who were not dumb could tell that the old Wayne’s attitude indicates that he swallowed his pride and humility down towards Mr. Franco Bradley. With what happened today, Tylor would never be able to get into the family business. All the assets of the Wayne house would never fall in Tim’s hands again.
“It’s not over yet!” Cody suddenly shouted, “Betty hasn’t apologized to my sister!”
Ann wiped her great-granddaughter’s cheeks, “Go, sweetie. Go apologize to Cody and Candace.”
