Jace’s POV
“Will Sky and Glen be upset with me?” I asked Lilian seriously as I drove past their pack’s border.
“I doubt it,” she answered softly.
Instead of using a portal, we decided to drive, and it took us two days. Alpha Ian was already there, along with Harley’s mother, aunt, and her kind.
I felt very nervous, and I was preparing myself mentally for any outcome that would arise.
“Jace, they are your brothers; they will understand,” Lillian whispered softly when the pack house came into view.
“I doubt it,” I answered in a low tone and then frowned when I saw a lot of men who looked like warriors.
The closer I got, the clearer it became that those men weren’t human; they were dragon warriors, and the way they were looking at me wasn’t all that friendly.
“I guess he was right; the dragon warriors were a little more than I would imagine,” I said when I parked my car close to the pack house entrance, remembering Sky’s words from our previous phone conversation.
“When you feel tired or uncomfortable in any way, please let me know,” I said softly to my mate and then moved my hand to her bump.
“I’ll be fine,” she answered softly with a smile.
My mate and my unborn pup were my top priority no matter what. If she wanted to leave, then I was going to go with her, no matter what.
I got out of the car and walked around to open the door for her.
She moved and got out of the car with a smile.
I linked my hand with hers and looked behind where the other cars were parked.
Harvey and Edith were in one, while Light, Molly, and Paul were in the other.
“Should we wait for them?” I asked her through our mind-link.
“Of course,” she answered.
I waited with a heavy sigh until they all came out.
“Let’s go,” I said loudly and then walked into the pack house with them.
I was surprised that no one was at the entrance to greet us, but then again, perhaps they were upset with us for taking two days to reach.
We followed the scent of all those who were close, and that led us to the living room. We were surprised to find Alpha Ian happily chatting with his mate, and opposite him were Harley, Sky, and Glen.
They all looked at us seriously, and I felt nervous, thinking the ceremony had already gone by.
“Did the ceremony pass us by?” I asked in concern.
“Your sentence doesn’t make sense, cousin, and to answer you, no, nothing has happened because we were waiting for you to arrive,” Sky answered as I sighed in relief.
“You sure have some fucking nerve to be this late,” Glen said coldly, as Harley quickly stood up and ran forward to hug Molly happily.
“I apologize,” I answered softly and then looked at Lillian.
“But when Edith said she wasn’t sure if a portal was okay to be used by a pregnant she-wolf, I couldn’t risk it or try. I decided to drive here; that’s why we are late. I apologize,” I said softly.
He sighed heavily and then moved closer, pulling Lillian into a hug.
“Congratulations and welcome, sister-in-law,” he said softly and then pulled back.
“Thank you,” Lillian answered with a smile.
When Alpha Ian stood up seriously and approached us, I had my guard up.
“Edith,” he called in a form of greeting.
“Alpha Ian, it’s good to see you again,” she said as she extended her hand, which he took quickly and shook.
He was acting as if we were invisible in our own family member’s pack!
“I’m glad that you made it. We actually came with Lexi, and she is looking forward to meeting you,” he answered.
“Where is she?” Edith asked.
“In one of the rooms with Harley’s mother and aunt, who seem so intrigued with what she is,” he answered lazily.
“Then I’ll join them right away,” she said as she smiled happily.
“But Alpha, I must first ask you to greet and acknowledge my Alpha,” she said, and that seemed to piss him off because his expression turned blank and then cold.
After a few minutes went by in silence, he looked at me, smiled, and moved closer. extending his hand to me, he said, “Nice to meet you again,” as I took it and shook it.
“Also, congratulations,” he said when his eyes went to Lillian’s bump.
“Um, thanks,” I answered.
“I’m glad to meet you again,” Amelia said as she stood up. Lillian, the rest of us, and I instantly bowed our heads low to show our respect to her.
“Come on, guys, you don’t have to do this,” she said as I looked at her with a smile.
“You are too kind, Alpha Queen,” I answered honestly.
When she moved closer, I tensed.
“I just want to say congratulations,” she said as she took Lillian’s hands in her own.
“Thank you so much,” Lillian answered happily.
“Edith, now can you meet with Lexi?” Alpha Ian asked.
“Of course,” she answered and then looked at Harvey.
“Can you come with me?” she asked seriously.
“Of course,” he answered and then linked his hand to hers and walked out of the room with her.
I looked at Harley, who was happily chatting with Molly, and then at my mate.
“She’s just too excited to meet her close friend. She will remember that we are all here in no time,” she mind-linked me.
At that moment, Harley looked at us and quickly approached, hugging Lillian.
When she pulled back and looked at me, I smiled.
“I’m so sorry for not greeting you first; I was just so excited to meet Molly after a long time,” she apologized.
“I understand,” I answered, and then I moved to the sofa and sat down.
Light looked at Paul and sighed heavily, then joined me.
To begin with, they didn’t want to join me in Sky’s pack, but I had to make them come because they were a part of our family, and their presence meant a lot.
“So, when are we meeting the dragon queen?” I asked, simply to get everyone’s attention.
“I would say pretty soon. She can’t stay away from her daughter for long,” Alpha Ian answered.
“Oh great,” I replied with a smile.
I was seriously looking forward to what kind of woman and queen she was.
So far, everything looked okay; that meant she wasn’t that violent or demanding.
