Sky’s POV
“Alpha Ian and his family have arrived,” Riff announced through the pack’s mind-link.
“Okay,” I answered from my office, still using the mind-link, and then slowly stood up.
When I felt their presence at the pack’s border, I quickly sent Riff to welcome them and show them to the pack. Then, I went on to inform Glen about their arrival.
I also felt that Jace needed to know they were here, which is why I rushed to my office to make a call.
“Alpha, they are in the living room,” Riff mind-linked me.
“I’m coming,” I answered and then quickly walked out.
When I entered the living room, I found everyone seated except for Alpha Ian and Glen, who were both looking at Sonya.
“Alpha Ian, welcome,” I said nervously.
He looked at me with a raised brow, then at Glen.
“He looks exactly like you; it sucks,” he muttered.
“That’s because he is my identical twin brother,” Glen answered simply.
“Gosh, I couldn’t want even my worst enemy to share his exact face with another, be it blood or not,” he said as I felt very annoyed.
“Right,” I whispered, then moved closer and extended my hand to him.
“I’m glad to meet and welcome you to our pack,” I said in a respectful tone.
Although this was the first time we were meeting, I had heard a lot about him through stories and rumors. To me, Ian was like a living legend who was hard to come by or take lightly. Also, his mate was the most respected in all werewolf territories.
Just having him standing in my pack felt like a great deal to me, although he was a little annoying.
He looked at my hand, then sighed softly and shook it.
“I’m very happy that you accepted my invitation,” I said honestly when he pulled back his hand.
“Well, do you know what I said when my Beta read your email?” he asked simply.
“No,” I answered.
“Screw them all?” Glen asked, making him chuckle.
“I wish, but I said, ‘Damn that little pup.’ I don’t want to go at all, but if Lexi hears about this, she will be thrilled,” he said seriously, and in his words, I detected no lies.
“I’m sorry, I guess,” I whispered.
“Neo, my brother, was like, ‘Be nice, even if he is not here.’ Lexi is definitely going to look forward to going since the invitation is extended to our whole family,” he said, then looked at his Beta, who shook his head.
“How ungrateful,” Sonya said loudly as she stood up.
“What did you just say, fire breather?” Alpha Ian asked loudly.
“Stop it!” A powerful female voice said, and I instantly found myself facing her with a low bow.
It wasn’t actually a command because if it were, we all could have been down on our knees except Harley and her mother!
Anyone with a wolf could tell what and who she was. I was so nervous to notice her, and that made me feel so stupid and dumb.
Like, why was everyone relaxed in front of an Alpha queen?
“It’s a real pleasure to meet you, ma’am,” I said in a cracked voice.
When Glen’s laughter echoed throughout the room, I looked at him coldly.
“Sky,” the Alpha Queen called softly.
I quickly looked at her and nodded; my heart was beating loudly and rapidly, and my throat felt dry. I could even feel sweat forming on my forehead.
“Glen,” she called, and he quickly moved forward and stood next to me, bearing his neck slightly to show respect.
“Thank you both for inviting us here,” she said softly.
“The pleasure is all ours, Alpha Queen,” Glen and I answered in unison.
“Please do not mind Ian at all. My mate may be rude, but it’s usually when he wants to tease someone. Isn’t that right, my love ?” she asked softly.
I looked at Alpha Ian, waiting to see if his expression would remain the same. When he smirked, I sighed softly.
“My heart, you don’t have to spoil the fun for me; it was about to get good,” he answered with a chuckle when his gaze went to Sonya.
He really was bold to even try to get Sonya upset, knowing what she was.
“It’s not the right time to tease my love,” she said.
“Please forgive him, and you too, ma’am,” she said when she looked at Sonya.
Sonya frowned deeply, but when Harley, who sat next to her, grabbed her hand, she silently sat down and nodded.
“Thank you,” she said, and then cleared her throat instantly, getting my attention.
She really had a way of making us listen to her and get our attention. For an Alpha queen, that was surprising because, according to my father, they usually had pride, knowing how they were above all ranks. How did Ian, who was ruthless and feared in most territories, end up with such a calm, powerful mate?
Wow, the moon goddess sure was unpredictable and amazing.
“Instead of calling me ma’am or Alpha Queen, Sky, I prefer you call me by my name. I’m Amelia, and I don’t want you to treat me like an Alpha Queen, just think of me as a friend,” she said, then smiled widely.
“I understand,” I answered and then looked at her family members who were seated.
A purebred vampire, a warlock, an ancient witch, and a fairy. I was surprised because I expected them all to be our kind.
“I can tell what you are thinking. Most of our family members couldn’t make it due to personal reasons; I apologize,” the ancient witch said politely.
“Oh, it’s really okay. I’m just glad that you could make it,” I said honestly.
“Pardon me for the late introduction, our mate Harley,” I said, pointing at her.
“We have met before,” Alpha Ian said when Harley stood up.
“I’m glad you could make it, and sorry again for spilling wine on you,” she said.
“That’s all in the past,” he answered.
“And that over there is Harley’s mother, Sonya. Her aunt will join us soon. Harley’s mother is the current queen ruling the dragon territories,” I said as Amelia smiled.
“So your mate is royalty,” she said, simply making me smile nervously.
“Well, to be specific, my daughter is a princess,” Sonya answered proudly.
She too was more like royalty to us werewolves.
“Yes, we are happy to be in the midst of royalty,” Amelia said.
“My mate always makes me proud,” Alpha Ian whispered as everyone smiled.
If we were still under the rule of Alpha queens and kings, I wouldn’t have minded being ruled by her. I had no idea why, but Shadow and I absolutely trusted her completely and thought highly of her. Not only for being who she was but for how she perceived herself to us.
