Alphonso’s POV.
He nodded his head as he forced out a smile. “Yeah, I do. But you wouldn’t tell me. So, why now?” He shrugged as he raised his eyebrows.
“Nothing in return but then, I can’t let you go around seeking answers because I don’t want people to start forming more factions than there are.”I shrugged as I sipped the scotch.
“Why? How many factions do we have out there?” He asked as he furrowed his eyebrows, squinting his eyes like he could get the answer from me.
“Don’t give me that look. For now, there is none to get worried about. We made sure we broke them apart and they fled New Kingston for good seventeen years ago.” I muttered as I forced out a broad smile.
“But then, few stayed back but not as a faction but just normal packs.” I muttered as I smirked.
“So, you see? There is nothing much about the factions as you think there is, okay?” I said calmly as I got up to leave.
“Then why would someone send a message to Peterson. He spoke of the factions, the committee of six.” He snapped as he turned around to me as I was making my way out.
I stopped halfway as I turned around as I looked at him and I could tell that he was far from being satisfied with whatever I just told him.
I exhaled heavily as I smirked. “What?” I asked, in an attempt to make him repeat whatever he just said.
“Yeah, you heard that right, father. He offered Peterson to answer whatever question it is that Peterson had about the committee of six.” He snapped as he looked right into my eyes.
“And did he mention who the person was?” I couldn’t help but ask.
“Well, he asked but the unknown person wouldn’t say.” He smirked as he raised his eyebrows.
I forced out a broad smile as I returned back to the counter. “You kids should be careful. If he claims to know something about the faction, then I am sorry to inform you that there is danger lurking around.”
***Logan’s POV***
“Danger?” I gasped as I looked at father but then, he said nothing to me as he got up.
“You kids better be careful. If you all want to stay alive, then you all must stay out of it. The committee of six shouldn’t be you guy’s concern. Why don’t you all listen to that simple piece of advice?” Father scowled as he furrowed his eyebrows.
“If you are so interested in keeping me and if the others are so interested in keeping us alive, why don’t you all just begin to open up to us. We don’t need to know what the faction is but should I remind you, that there is someone out there who is about to use that to tear us apart?” I scowled angrily, trying to convince my father but then, he wouldn’t still give in.
“Tear you guys apart?” He scoffed.
“If the faction needs to stay strong, we need to stay united. You know that, father. No matter how much you want to keep running from the truth, you can’t run forever dad.” I sighed angrily.
“There is no truth to hide from. You will only get yourself into danger. Don’t you think you should sit down and let us run the faction without any interference or disturbance from you kids?” He fired back at me angrily.
I saw his eyes glistened with rage but then, I just couldn’t give up. At least, not now. I needed to find clues that would lead me down to whoever was texting Peterson.
And I don’t mind how far I get to go in provoking my father.
“Will you stop being a pain in the ass already, Logan!”
Before I could say another word, Uncle. Jayson stepped out as he looked at me.
“And can you stay out of this?” I turned to Jayson angrily.
“You know, you thought I bought the whole display of you not knowing anything about the faction and the committee of six?” I scowled.
“And what are you trying to insinuate?” He queried as he stared at me.
“You know? I was wondering, what if you only returned here because you wanted to serve as the loophole, where they get to infiltrate the pack because I can see the patterns already.” I cursed.
“What patterns are you talking about?” Father scowled as he furrowed his eyebrows.
“I think Jayson is in the best position to explain that and if he should go ahead with it, why don’t he start with his sudden friendship with Collins Morgan? The one man who desperately
wants to tear apart the founders.” I scowled.
“Oh, can you stop being so dramatic?” Jayson rolled his eyes as he looked at me.
“Then tell me, what other thing is there when Peterson automatically gets involved in all this? And now, he thinks I am the villain here. And you know what? No matter how hard you try, you will still sulk at being the man who you claim to be. The good man, the perfect uncle. Jayson.” I scowled, cursing bitterly, trying so hard to piss them off.
“Can you behave, Logan!”
Before I could say another word, father growled angrily as he looked at me.
“What is all this? The paranoia that is digging deep into you? Why are you so interested in the committee of six? Why don’t you give it up? You are not going to find anything useful because that is a long, dead story!!” He scowled angrily.
“Long, dead story?” I chuckled softly as I looked at my father.
“Well, I am sorry to disappoint you that I don’t think so. And why am I interested in it?” I scowled. “I am interested in it because it is trying to come in between me and my friends. And that is the last thing I will ever let happen, father!!” I cursed as I turned to Jayson who remained quiet as he kept staring at me.
“I don’t know what has gotten into you!!” Father scowled as he turned to me.
“For crying out loud, I am no longer a kid. And you know the sad truth, you will be dead soon because I think there is more to the committee of six.” I cursed as I walked away.
