Clark’s POV.
Alice King had made her way to New Kingston the moment she got the news of Kingsley making his way to New Kingston and all she cared about was making sure that no harm came close to her grandchildren. That was something I could relate to.
“Haven’t you been sitting him down and talking some sense into him?” Alice yelled angrily as she looked at me.
“That is why I sent you alongside. You are his beta, Clark!!” She snapped as she rolled her eyes.
“I am doing my best, mother!” I said in defense as I raised my eyebrows. “But you know, he can be stubborn at times but he still tries his best. I don’t think Elena has gotten over the hurt she got when he betrayed their mate’s bond.” I shrugged as I turned to where he was seated.
“Seriously?” He snarled.
“How many more times will you all keep making mention of the mate’s bond?” He scowled as he rolled his eyes.
“That was just a little mistake I made and for crying out loud, it has been five years already.” He said in defense as he looked at me before turning to Alice who wore a straight face.
“It doesn’t matter how many years ago it happened. If you never did, then we wouldn’t have been here in the first place.” She scoffed as she looked at him.
“So, this is all my fault?” He scoffed as he looked at me. “You know what, what is so difficult about us leaving New Kingston for good? Who knows? The moment we all leave this annoying city, Kingsley might follow us and leave.” He snapped as he raised his eyebrows as he looked at us.
“Enough of all these, Rex!” Ethan cuts halfway as he looks at Rex. “You can’t deny that you don’t want Elena Toussaint back to the pack house because you are aware that is the only way to protect her and your kids from whatever danger lurking out there and also from Kingsley.” Ethan said in a husky voice as he looked at Rex who now remained calm.
“We are yet to find out what exactly is happening to your kids that caused their early transformation into their wolf form. Are you not curious enough to find out why?” He shrugged this time around, placing so much emphasis on the “Why.”
“He is right, Rex.” I accepted immediately as I looked at Rex.
“Ethan is right. We don’t even know what exactly is the cause of the early transformation and we don’t know what that will lead to. As far as I am concerned, I have never heard of something like that before.” I said in a calm tone as I looked at him.
He tilted his lips as he frowned.
“Well, Elena doesn’t seem to see that. She feels she can protect the kids. What will you have me do? Keep trying? You have to see the way she looks at me during arguments, it’s obvious she doesn’t need my help or the help of the pack.” He snapped in defense as he looked away.
“It doesn’t matter what she thinks, okay?” Ethan snapped as he raised his eyebrows.
“This is all about you, Rex. You have to listen to your mother. We came all the way down here and we can’t leave New Kingston without her and the kids.” Ethan mumbled as he looked at Rex.
I exhaled lightly as I forced out a smile. “I guess he is fully aware of why you all are here.” I chuckled softly trying to ease the tension in the room now as I looked at Rex. “Isn’t that true, Rex?” I asked as he rolled his eyes before tilting his lips again at me.
I forced out a smile as I rolled my eyes. “Don’t be this difficult!!” I used my mind link to communicate with him after making sure I had blocked access to everyone else in the room.
“Difficult? Can’t you see how frustrating this is becoming? I know she wasn’t bluffing the moment she said that.” He scowled, using our mind link to communicate back.
“Well, you should try better because if you keep with the long faces? Then trust me, she won’t give up.” I communicated back to him using our mind link.
“Don’t you see she is adamant? She won’t leave here until I get Elena to come back with us.” I rolled my eyes as I turned to him.
The conversation went on and on, remaining inconclusive as Alice still wouldn’t give in.
And I had to give out my room to Alice aides as it was already getting quite late while Alice took the other room.
“Maybe I could talk to her and convince her to take a break tomorrow while I go with you to Elena’s place. Hopefully, things may work out tomorrow when she gets to know that Alice is here.” I shrugged as I wore a broad smile.
He exhaled sharply as he looked away. “You know what, I will just go upstairs and try resting my head because right now, it feels like my head is about to explode!!” He sneered before he walked away.
“There’s no way I am sleeping on the sofa.” I groaned.
Before he could shut his door, I had used my heightened speed to rush upstairs as I held my door as he was about closing it.
“Fine!! But if you fail to convince mother to take a break tomorrow, then trust me, you’ll sleep on the sofa throughout their stay and don’t forget, Elena is a hard nut to break now!!” He snapped as he allowed me inside his room.
***Alphonso’s POV***
“You want to know about the Committee of six, don’t you?” I raised my eyebrows as I looked at Logan.
I saw his eyes go wide in shock before he furrowed his eyebrows. And I know that look. He was shocked why I wanted to tell him now.
“You wanted to know, didn’t you?” I smirked as I looked at him.
