Rex’s POV.
“So, what next? Will you have me locked indoors all through?” Mother scowled as she looked at me. She raised her eyebrows as she crossed her right leg over her left.
“I have been in New Kingston for almost twenty four hours, Rex.” She snarled as she wore a frown.
“What didn’t you get when you got informed that Kingsley was currently in New Kingston? Huh?” She scowled angrily and I could see the disappointment on her face.
“Mother, you won’t understand. This is difficult. This isn’t easy, mother!!” I whined as I got up from the sofa.
It has been twelve hours since she made her way to New Kingston with her special aides, Ethan, Allen and Iverson.
“Oh, mother! You knew there was no way I would go back there with you. Why won’t you give up, mother? She made it plain to me. I saw the hatred in her eyes when she spoke to me earlier today, mother. ” I said with a frown on my face as my eyes got teary.
I wasn’t anywhere close to crying but then, I just still couldn’t get the image of her smiling the moment that scoundrel, Collins called her line.
She took minutes to accept my request of taking her out for dinner but then, she instantly accepted his request, not minding the fact that I was still there.
“Do you expect me to give up? They are my grandchildren, the heir to the King’s empire, Rex and you expect me to easily give up?” She scowled.
“You know, if you weren’t so desperate in having kids, you wouldn’t have fallen for that cheap and pathetic sl*t, Maya. You knew from the start that she was Kingsley’s mate but then, your hatred for Kingsley coupled with your strong desire to have kids made you chase Elena out of the pack.” She sneered.
“You betrayed the mating bond that kept you two together. Do you think she will easily forget that? But I know Elena, she is a nice person and I get that she is acting tough but there is absolutely no way I am going to sit back and leave Elena and my two little and adorable grand kids here in New Kingston.” She snapped in a firm voice as she looked right into my eyes.
“And you want to know what? I don’t care how many times I have to repeat this to you, Rex. But, I am not leaving New Kingston without them and you are not also going to leave here. We will all leave together.” She scowled as she exhaled heavily.
“So, you better start preparing yourself because tomorrow, we are going to pay her a courtesy visit. I know she won’t turn my request down.”
Mother snarled as she looked at me. And looking right into her eyes now, I could tell that she was serious about the courtesy visit she has been talking about.
“And if you think I am joking, do otherwise by tomorrow and I will have Ethan get the family lawyer as I revoke every right you have over the company and every other company that was being secured under the King’s empire.” She scowled before getting up from the chair she was seated on.
“Oh, come on, mother. Call off the bluff. You wouldn’t do that to me.” I sneered as I looked at her.
“Bluff?” She said as she smiled one-sided, as she looked right into my eyes. “Why don’t we wait till tomorrow then? Maybe, we will get to know if I am really bluffing or I mean it.” She snapped before turning to Clark.
“Can you please, show me my room?” She said in a calm voice this time around as she looked at Clark who without wasting a single minute got up from where he was seated as he led the way upstairs.
I turned to Ethan who gave me a long stare before accompanying my mother upstairs.
“You should take her for her words, Rex!!” Allen shrugged as he tapped my right shoulder before joining her too and Allen? He remained quiet as he shut down his laptop.
Clark showed her room and then, took Ethan, Allen and Iverson to his room where they could spend the night.
“I guess we are going to be stuck for the time being.” He grinned as he walked down the stairs with a pillow and a thick blanket.
“Stuck together for the time being?” I chuckled softly as I rolled my eyes. “That was a really smart move, Clark.” I snapped as I tilted my lips as I stared at him.
“You have got yourself a thick blanket and a pillow, so why don’t you just use the sofa for the time being, because I know you are going to be team Alice.” I scowled as I pouted out my lips.
“Really? You will let me sleep on the couch?” He queried as he rolled his eyes. “You know I am your beta.” He snapped.
“Then why don’t you for once, support me. How do you expect me to follow my mother back to Elena’s house?” I scoffed. “I am no longer a kid, Clark!!” I sneered as I looked away.
“Well, I guess you don’t have a choice now, considering the fact that you either let go of the one thing you have fought so hard to build which happens to be the King’s empire, or you go back there to Elena’s apartment tomorrow and try convincing her to return to Cleveland with you.” He shrugged as he forced out a smile.
“You know, you don’t have to give me that weird smile of yours now. I am already dealing with a bad day.” I cursed as I rolled my eyes.
“Come on, Rex. You don’t have to make this any more difficult than it is now. Mother has every right to act that way. They are her grandchildren, okay? And you know how they could be. Too caring to the extent of even over pampering our children, which they never did to us when we were young.” He said in a calm tone this time around as he looked at me.
