Chapter ninety three; in danger

Book:Arya's Second Chance Mate Published:2025-4-10

Arya’s POV
I forced down the bile in my throat as I made my way to Jake’s car. This time was not like before. I walked to the car in shame and pain. The reason I wanted to see Jake was that, he wouldn’t leave here without seeing me. He was as obstinate like a goat when he wants something and for the first time I could see what my actions had done. Maybe forgiving Jake and meeting him was not really the best. Now he has gotten the idea I was going to give him another chance.
So the intent of meeting him was quite simple. Talk to him to end all these bullshit and everyone can go home happy.
I looked around me. At the many eyes on me. It was then I saw how my actions were hurting the black moon pack. Imagine having the rival of your pack coming to pick the alpha’s mate. The supposed luna.
Nah. That didn’t make sense. I took in a deep breath. It’s all good to end this night.
He had on some shades and was on long sleeve. As handsome as ever. I walked up to him. He turned as if he had eyes at the back.
“Hi” I said looking away. Up until now eye contact was not something I have mastered. I always felt like the person was watching me. Judging me.
“You look beautiful as always” Jake said statong at my shoulders. The dress was an off shoulder long evening gown. I wore it not because I wanted to but I suspected, Jake was going to take me out.
I nodded. ” Thank you” my cheeks were red. Also compliments. I am the worst person on taking compliments. At times when I get complimented, it feels like the whole word was staring at me. And it sure made me uncomfortable.
“You know, what I like about you?” I looked up. ” It’s the way you blush” he gave me that lopsided grin that made my heart flutter. I immediately looked away.
“Stop it Jake, now’s not the time*
I was sure that my face was the exact color of a fire extinguisher. What was wrong with me?
I peeked up at him and go the ground. I was drawing circles with my foot. I narrowed my eyes. What was I doing?”
I am not sixteen year old. I mentally slapped my face. Snap out of it. I snapped my eyes up to him.
“Enough of the compliments” I said. ‘ why did you come?”
Jake smiled uneasily. He rubbed a hand over his neck.
“I needed to speak to you” he said.
“Can’t you call?” He shook his head. I took in a deep breath and turned to face him squarely.
“You know Jake, you can’t just come here whenever you like” I said glancing around. People were still stating at around.
“Believe me Arya” he said. “It’s something important, I promise”
I stared at him longer. I couldn’t guage whether he was lying or what. I sighed.
“Fine, this will be the last time you come here” I said and he nodded.
He opened the car door for me, and he moved swiftly to his own side.
****************************************************************
It was at this tush restaurant that Jake stopped. I looked out through the window. I was grateful I dressed up because there was no way I would enter into a restaurant like this wearing g anything that didn’t scream if elegance or class.
“Is this not a-”
“I can manage” he said with a smile. I glanced at him and shrugged. I got out of the car before he could come open the door for me.
“Oh please” I said.
“You are a lady” he smiled. ” You deserve to be there like one”
And so we went to dinner. It was worth it. Jake talked about old times. We laughed at jokes about high school and all. Oh I felt good. He made me laugh.
“Oh I feel so good. Happy even” I smiled taking a sip of my cocktail.
“I’m glad you are” he said I.
I glanced at him still smiling. What was with Jake and always coming over when I felt down. Jake hadn’t visited much at the black moon pack, but I cannot remember the times we spent time together and we were not laughing. Or happy. I stared at his face. Be looked peaceful. Contrite. He’s had this look ever since he visited. I wanted to ask him why he asked me out for dinner but I was scared I would ruin the mood.
So I stood up. I needed time alone to collect my thoughts.
“Excuse me I need to use the bathroom” he nodded and I walked away.
The restaurant bathroom had this calming aura. The white walls and the beautiful designs of the tiling.
I eased myself and washed my hand. Taking one lady look at myself, I walked out of the bathroom.
It was then the problems began. I was heading out when suddenly a man in all black attire appeared. I was taken aback, ready the run when he grabbed my hand. I wasn’t quick enough.
“Aarghh!!!!” I screamed at the top of my voice as he brgsh to push me into the men’s bathroom. I kicked and pushed but it was to no avail. I was no where’s ad strong as this man.
He shoved me into a stall and went tom lock the door. Rape! He wanted to sexually assault me. I ran out of the stall.
The man turned From the door.
“I guess you don’t have any ever to run to” he sneered.
He walked briskly to me and I took of my shoes d threat him. He dodged it. I took off the second one and threw, I missed.
The man broke out into an evil laugh.
“I guess it’s just you And I princess” he smirked.
I stood there screaming but before I knew it, the man had reached where I was. I saw my life flash before me. Rape was horrible. It gets ingrained in your mind for ever. His tobacco stained teeth was the last thing I saw before I passed out.
