Chapter ninety two: The aftermath of my actions

Book:Arya's Second Chance Mate Published:2025-4-7

Arya’s POV
I gaped at nothing as soon as I woke up from sleep. That is if I could call that sleep. For days I haven’t been able to sleep.
Deep down I knew the answer. It was clearly a guilty conscience. The audacity of being wrong but having the guts to say all that to Chase. I slapped a hand over my face and sighed deeply. How could I have allowed my ego to come before my brain?
If only I had shut up and let him talk but no. My ego riled up my anger and then I began to blurt words that should have been thought not to be said.
After that argument, I tried to see chase but he was never there. It was either he had a meeting to host or a night dinner to attend. He was mostly out. I kind of think it was his way of avoiding me. I sighed. I knew I deserved that and probably more.
Finally I was able to drag myself out of bed and began to wash up. Chamberlain was on vacation with his personal maid at the human side. When he suggested it, I couldn’t help but feel relieved.
I have taken a step back in taking care of him and it was affecting our relationship. I decided that once he gets back, we will start afresh but for the meantime, I needed some peace and quiet.
There was a knock on my door and I flinched.. I turned to the door. Who could it be this time? Was it Kelsi?
The last thing I want is for her to come here and bash me with her words. I have been waiting for her since I had that big fight with Chase but nothing. Absolutely nothing. It’s crickets from my end. I expected her to be talking sense to me by now. So since she wasn’t doing any of that, I decided to avoid her for a while. That way we wouldn’t talk at all, not to talk about Chase.
I draped a blanket over myself and tiptoed to the door. I leaned to peep through the hole and the knock came almost at the same time and I jumped. I withdrew like I had been electrocuted.
“Nina, open up!”
I raised an eyebrow. I knew that voice and I knew it didn’t belong to Kelsi. And that was how I got enough courage and went to the door. I peeped and hissed.
I went on to open the door.
“What took you so long?” Mika asked as she walked past me. I sighed and closed the door.
“I…” Then I changed my mind on telling her why I was hiding. “Nothing” I walked into the kitchen and put on the coffee maker.
“Do you want a cup?” I gestured to the coffee maker. She eyed the coffee.
“Okay, one cup will not be bad,” she said. I wondered why she made that Statement. Has she drunk enough? What could be the reason?
I put out a second cup and began to find my creamer in the cupboard. I turned around.
“Are you having a hard time at work?” I glanced up at her to see her clearly. There was a big dark circle under her eyes.
She waved her hands at me. ” I don’t want to bore with the stories”
I walked over to her in the sitting room and handed her the cup of coffee, and took a seat.
“I have time” I smiled while taking a sip, but it was quickly wiped off when I saw Kelsi glaring at me.
I coughed, sputtering coffee all over the floor.
“Kelsi-”
“Is this why you haven’t been picking my calls?” she stared daggers at me and at Mika. She pointed at her. ” What the hell is she doing here?”
Mika sprang up. She looked visibly angry. ” You know I have a name”
“I don’t care,” Kelsi retorted. Mika began to walk closer and I knew I had to stop before it turned into a full blown fight. I race to the middle of each of them.
“Girls” I stared at each of them, raising my hands. ” You don’t have to argue?”
“When you do things like bringing a banished pack member and playing besties with her, you think it’s going to be peaceful!?”
“Don’t dress me as Kelsi!” Mika replied in a raised voice.
“Girls!”
Then there was a knock on the door and I froze. Was it chase? No one should see Mika.
“Mika hide!” I whispered harshly. Kelsi rolled her eyes.
“This is what happens when you choose to hang out with people who Shouldn’t be seen above water”
Mika moved closer but I pushed her into my bedroom. I ran out quickly and ran to the door. The knock came again. I hand combed my hair and took in a deep breath. Trying to calm my racing heart.
The knock came again and I quickly opened it.
I was happy when I saw who was at the door.
“Miss Nina I am here to tell you, ” the maid smiled mischievously “you have a guest”
I raised an eyebrow. “Who is that?”
She smiled. ” It’s alpha Jake”
My eyes widened. What?
What was he doing here?
“Okay I’ll be down shortly” I smiled as the maid nodded and walked away.
I closed the door and turned around to find Mika and Kelsi staring at me. Kelsi had her hands on her waist with a stern expression. Mika’s jaw had dropped to the jaw and she struggled to pick it up.
I sighed and walked into the kitchen. “Stop looking at me like that girls”
“Did you expect a resounding applause?” Kelsi spat.
“Are you so….” Mika began to bite one look from me and she shut up.
Kelsi picked her bag and headed for the door.
“Kelsi, where are you going?” I asked.
She turned and glared at me. ” I can’t speak to you now. Go and clean up your mess”
My face feel like a pack of cards. She definitely knew about Chase. But I wonder how long she had known?
