Chapter 142

Book:The Alpha's Hot Chase After Divorce Published:2025-4-10

Logan’s POV.
I used my hand to clear the top of his cabinet as everything came crumbling down, leaving a heavy thud.
Peterson’s words kept echoing in my head. I knew that he knew something about Liam’s killer and even if he was yet to find out, I still couldn’t underestimate whoever it was that was ready to help him find out who Liam’s killer was.
“Are you okay?”
I turned around as I heard that familiar voice from behind. And without wasting a single minute, I used my heightened speed to get to where Jayson stood.
I lifted him up as I pinned him to the wall.
“And why do you care?”
I growled angrily as my eyes glistened as veins sprouted out.
“Why are you here?”
“What brought you back to New Kingston?”
“Why are you interested in Liam’s killer?”
“Why me? Why am I your prime suspect? Why leave Rex King out of this? He was the one who attacked him and led to him being in the hospital.”
“He knew that if Liam made it out alive, he was going to tell everyone and that was why he went ahead to kill him.” I scowled angrily as I looked at him.
My hands firmly on his collar as I glared at him. “Who sent you and what stunt are you trying to pull again, huh?” I fired at him as I tightened my hands on his collar.
“You want to kill me?” He scoffed as he held my hands.
“Too many questions. Where do I start from? Why am I here? Or why are you my prime suspect here?” Jayson mumbled as he rolled his eyes, provoking me further as I threw him off as he crashed down after hitting the messed up cabinet.
Without wasting a single minute, I rushed him again.
“You may be my uncle, but I won’t hesitate killing you. And that is for sure.” I snapped as I raised my eyebrows.
“And, what do you know about the faction?” I queried as I paid close attention to him.
“The faction?” He gasped as he raised his eyebrows as he looked at me. “Who told you about the faction?” He questioned as he got up from the floor as he arranged his shirt.
I groaned inwardly as I discovered that he had no idea about me discovering about the faction, which only did nothing but to frustrate me even more.
I shifted backwards as I gave him the space he needed.
“What do you know about the faction? How did you even get to know that?” He shrugged as he stared at me.
“Well, I guess that’s a story for another day.” I muttered as I raised my eyebrows.
Without saying a single word, I vanished from Liam’s room, leaving Jayson to himself.
“Are you okay?” Owen muttered as he looked at me.
“Well, I am. I just couldn’t help but let my anger get a better part of me.” I groaned angrily as I sipped the vodka I had ordered.
“So, what was so urgent to make you call me by this time of the night? The bar is already closing.” He shrugged as he kept looking at me.
“We will walk down the street. Who knows how long we get to have this peaceful life?” I chuckled softly as I emptied the vodka in my shot glass.
“This? Peaceful?” He shrugged as he looked at me. “Well, as far as I am concerned, there is nothing peaceful about our current life. You know that, Logan, don’t try denying that.” He snapped as he looked at me.
“Yeah, it’s not peaceful but then, what happens if something goes wrong?” I asked as I turned to Owen. “We will get to realize that this current phase was actually peaceful.” I said as I looked at him.
“Well, I know where you are heading. But, why don’t we remain on the positive side?” He said as he cleared his throat.
I forced out a smile as I lowered my head. I groaned inwardly as I turned to Owen.
I raised my eyebrows as I looked at him. “What do you think about what Peterson said earlier today?” I said calmly, wearing a straight face as I looked at him.
I blinked my eyes twice before I looked away as I filled my shot glass with vodka again.
I sipped the vodka as I endured the silence that followed my question.
“Well, nothing!!”
He finally broke the silence as he took the bottle containing the vodka as he poured a little into the shot glass in front of him.
“Helen made her point. And for now, we just have to stay intact, okay? Get that anger of yourself under control, Logan.” He muttered as he looked at me.
“You don’t have to be so nice.” I shrugged as I got up from the chair I was seated on. “He probably thinks I am responsible for Liam’s death, or better still, I have a hand in it.” I scowled as I forced out a broad smile on my face.
“And how about you now? Wearing a broad smile on his face?” He scoffed as he looked at me.
“And, what about Helen? What does she think of me now? She knew from the start but she never mentioned it to me. Why? To keep watching me? Monitoring me and waiting for when I make a slight mistake where she will flare up and accuse me as well? Is it?” I scowled as I looked at him.
“Don’t get yourself worked out.” He muttered as he got up too.
He took the shot glass as he sipped it. He walked close enough to where I stood as he wore a broad smile.
“We have a lot on our desk, Logan. We still have Collins Morgan’s ass to kick.” He chuckled softly as he looked at me. “So, for now don’t you think we should forget about any other thing? We just have to focus on getting Collins out of our way.” He shrugged as he smiled.
