Good news
Mary Davies
I was in the room I was given, looking outside the window as I got carried away in my own thoughts. It’s been a week now and I haven’t been privileged to see Hawk, it turns out the accident wasn’t as Fatal as we all thought it was since he survived it, he has been in coma for a week now and we only heard he has a great chance of waking up soon. Taylor was the only one who died. After I found out she had something to do with the accident. I didn’t feel an iota of pity for her. It was said that she switched lanes and went over to hit Hawk’s car.
Her parents already moved back to Beverly Dale after the incident. Hawk’s family was still lurking around the premises of the hospital, keeping an eye on him and probably keeping an eye out for any visitor who isn’t family. Carol has been trying to calm me down even though I have been impatient, she went to the hospital this morning and we haven’t heard from her yet. I just want to see Hawk. The twins were obviously missing their dad, but Jemima has been keeping them busy and they have stopped asking for their dad to my own relief. But I know it won’t be long before they will start asking again.
“Are you overthinking?” I heard the familiar voice of Xander behind me. I turned around to face him.
“No, I was just lost in my thoughts.” I replied.
“You know overthinking can’t solve any problem, better days are surely going to come, you should think about the better days ahead of you and imagine things you want to do with your man when he finally wakes up. Maybe you should start making a bucket list of everything you want to do with him. I think that would at least get your mind of your worries.” Xander said calmly.
“Hawk is already out of danger zone, we are only waiting for him to wake up.” He added.
“But what if he doesn’t wake up?” I whispered.
“Stop doubting, he is definitely going to wake up.”
“I think you should sincerely try doing something to take your mind off your worries, you need this distraction. You can consider making a bucket list or even try keeping a journal where you can write everything you do, how you are feeling right now while Hawk isn’t here with you, maybe you might have something you want to say to him, just write everything down, pen every feeling and emotions down.”
I nodded my head as I sank my teeth into my lips, Xander was actually making sense to me. Maybe I should consider journaling too. I was actually thinking of writing a book, writing our story and maybe getting it published.
“I am considering writing a book, a story that has something to do with everything that has happened to us so far.”
“Have you considered a title for it?” Xander asked.
“Not yet, but I could title it Pregnant for the bully.” I replied, shrugging my shoulders.
“That sounds interesting, I think it’s a great idea. I don’t know your full story yet, but I will be sure to get a copy if you truly decide to write it. I will be your number one fan, whatever you decide. You have my full support.”
“Mary, I want you to know that, the road of life is not always smooth, we can either find potholes or bumps on it, but no matter these challenges and obstacles. There is always a way forward, better days are ahead of you. Endure this moment of trial, you will be fine at the later end of it all.” Xander added.
“Thank you so much, Xander.” I said with teary eyes.
“You’re wel….” Before he could finish his statement, Jemima barged into the room with her palm on her bulging stomach.
“Babe,” she screeched out loudly.
“My water just broke,” she rushed out, fanning her face with her hands. Xander immediately brought out his phone.
“Oh my goodness!” I exclaimed, moving towards her hurriedly.
“Call an ambulance!” I yelled at Xander, who was busy making a call.
“No, there is no need for that. I’m having a water birth at home here. Let him get the midwife and nurses.”
I just stared at Jemima as I held her hands trying to calm her down.
“The midwife will be here soon, let me go prepare the warm water in the pool. Mary please can you bring her along and follow me.” Xander asked.
I held on to Jemima’s arm as I led her out of the room, following after Xander. The twins stared at us as we walked past them in the sitting room.
“Mummy, she peed in her pants. That is gross.” Bryan said, pointing to Jemima. I realized he must have been there when Jemima’s water broke, now he thinks it is pee.

Jemima gave birth to a beautiful baby girl today, the birth of this child seems to brighten up everyone’s mood. We all couldn’t wait to share the good news with Carol who left the house this morning to find a way to see her son. We were all waiting to hear good news from her, but we already have good news for. The midwife just left few minutes ago, after making sure both mother and daughter were fine.
Tiffany went back to the sitting room to continue watching cartoons after catching a glimpse of the beautiful baby. Bryan hasn’t left the sides of the baby since he laid his eyes on her, he kept repeating beautiful as he stared at her lovingly. He was right there when she was being fed and when she cries. I thought he would have gotten tired and gone back to the sitting room to watch cartoon. But Bryan seems to be glued to this newborn, seems like he doesn’t even want to leave her for a few minutes.
“I think he likes her,” Jemima whispered, chuckling.
“Do you want to hold her?” She asked Bryan, turning to face him. He nodded his head excitedly, which made me roll my eyes. Maybe he would leave this poor baby alone after getting the chance to hold her.
I helped him to the bed, sitting him close to Jemima. She placed the baby gently in his arms and she began to cry, Bryan looked sad because he thought he made the baby cry, he kissed her gently on the cheek and that made her increase the tempo of her cry.
Jemima brought the baby back to her chest and began to pet her while Bryan watched her. He looked so happy, as if he just carried out an important function of his life.
“Mummy, I like her. She is mine. I won’t share her with anyone” Bryan said, smiling widely. To be honest, Bryan’s words scared me a bit and I wonder if he was just joking and he didn’t just stake his claim on a newborn baby.
“That is really wrong Bryan, you don’t go about claiming someone as yours. It is wrong.” I scolded him.
“Why mummy, but I want her to be mine.” He whined, pouting his lips.
“Just leave him alone, he is still a child. He doesn’t know what he’s saying. But the great thing here is that, someone just got herself an overprotective big brother. Isn’t it Bryan?” Jemima asked Bryan.
The door to Jemima’s room opened, before Bryan could say anything.
Xander stepped in, I couldn’t help but notice the happy look on his face, well he should be happy. He is now a father to a beautiful girl.
“I have got good news.” Xander said smiling widely.
“I just got a call from my mum. Guess what?” He asked.
“Just say it. I am not in the mood for guessing games right now.” I replied.
“Well, my mum just called to inform us that Hawk is awake.” Xander drawled out. I shouted with joy as I jumped up and down excitedly. My heart immediately felt light, it was like I was relieved of a particular burden. I felt free, I just couldn’t give my happiness a perfect rating, I was all round happy. Hawk was back, like really back. This is good news and it really calls for celebration. But before that I have to find a way to see him. My mood changed to a sad one when I remembered only his families could see him.
“Why that face?” Xander asked.
“You should be looking happy and not sad.” He added.
“Oh! Oh! I know why your face is like that, what do you think I meant when I said I had good news. Hawk is awake and you can also get to see him.” Xander said smiling. That immediately lightened up my mood.
“Can I go now?” I rushed out happily.
“Yes, of course. I will drop you off, let’s go.” He replied.
