Kevin’s POV
The party was a blast. I was having fun. I was surprised when I saw Luke at the party but I wasn’t too surprised. After all, he was Oscar Nelson’s son and he wouldn’t have been allowed to stay indoors while everyone in the land was having fun.
I didn’t care about his presence but I would appreciate it if he stopped glaring at me. I wasn’t his problem so he should stop acting like I was it.
If he couldn’t enjoy the party, then he should be gracious enough to leave and go back to his room. He didn’t have to be here. He could have just stayed in his room and stopped ruining the mood here. If his glares were any effective, everywhere around here would be ice cold.
I flashed Luke a chill smile and chuckled to myself when he narrowed his eyes at me and glowered. I could tell he wanted to bash my head in but couldn’t as his father was watching him just as he had his eyes on me. That would have been fun to watch, hoping he would lose his cool and be grounded to laugh.
I would be happy to laugh at him as he was being marched out of the party and locked up in his room while everyone was having fun. That would be the greatest torture for a wolf that didn’t like to be in. Watching from the window of your room as everyone was having fun and listening to them laugh but knowing that you couldn’t join them. I knew it made me seem wicked but I hoped that was the situation I hoped Luke was in.
As much as I didn’t want any attention and didn’t want this party that was made for us to be ruined, I found myself hoping that Luke would lose his cool so he could get locked up. I remembered Oscar Nelson’s words that I was a good man and laughed to myself. If he knew what I was thinking at the moment about his son and how petty my thoughts were, he would take back his words.
Luke glared at me and hissed. I chuckled. He was not helping himself by deciding to hate me instead of having fun.
“Ignore him.” I heard Caleb say as he moved towards me.
I turned to him and chuckled. “I don’t have the time for him.”
“Good.” Caleb chuckled. “My brother is a grumpy bastard who doesn’t know how to have fun even when he is not on punishment. You shouldn’t let him stop him from having yours.”
“He can’t. His attitude is actually fun to me.”
“Keep having fun then.” He said, patting me on the back. “I’m off to find myself a girl to dance with.”
“You are on the search for a mate?”
“I never said that.”
“I never pegged you as a playboy.” I teased him.
“Asshole.” He laughed.
“Will you like to hear an advice from someone who has been through the experience?” I told him.
“Save it. Something tells me I’m going to be annoyed.”
“Being a playboy sucks. You should be an honorable man instead.” I said it anyway.
He laughed. “I knew I was going to get annoyed.” He said and walked away.
“Why are you alone?” Zeke said as he walked up to me. “I thought you would be with my face and trying to suck off her face.”
I couldn’t tell him I was here on purpose where Luke could see me and keep getting mad at my existence.
I smiled as I turned to him. “That is actually not a bad idea. Maybe I should go get Ella but that would be a problem.” I said, pointing to where she was talking with her friends. “She has been with them since we got here.”
“You can’t blame her.” He sighed. “You are leaving soon and she might not get to see her friends as easily as they would all love to.”
“I’m her mate.” I sighed, knowing I sounded petty like a teenager.
Zeke snorted. “A mate she would see everyday.”
I chuckled. “Don’t mind me.”
Oscar Nelson announced that it was time to dance and I excused myself from Zeke. I moved quickly to where her friends were and pulled her out of their midst, asking if they didn’t mind if I danced with my mate. They smiled at my attitude and the expression on my face, teasing me but they allowed her to leave with me.
I smiled as I wrapped my arms around Ella’s waist and pulled her closer to me, in tune with the music. “I missed you.”
She chuckled. “We were in the same room an hour ago.”
“That long? It’s no wonder I feel horrible.” I said as I pulled her closer.
She laughed. “Don’t act so dramatic.”
I glanced at Luke and saw that his face was red. I chuckled and moved closer to Ella, making sure he knew she was mine. I knew he would be green with envy at the moment but I didn’t look back to confirm. I wouldn’t care if he dropped dead there due to a heart failure.
The dance finished. Oscar Nelson announced the peace treaty we had signed and everyone cheered loudly. He handed me the signed document in front of everyone and I smiled, swelling with pride as I looked around at everyone clapping as me and Oscar Nelson stood side by side.
Father would be proud of me when I got home. I was proud of myself as well. I couldn’t wait to get this document home and frame it on the wall of the study in the palace.
I risked a glance at Luke. He wasn’t green but red. He was a deeper shade of red than I didn’t expect him to be. He growled at me and I smiled as I looked away. He had to be the only one present here who was mad at the bond between everyone now.
Whatever. As if I cared what his opinion was and I suspected that his father didn’t care as well.
