Ella’s POV
“Where have you two been?” Liam said the moment he saw us as we walked back to where the others were.
“We were out.” Kevin said vaguely.
Liam exhaled. “Thank goodness you are back on time. I was just about to start looking for you.”
I also exhaled a relieved sigh of my own, grateful that he didn’t come to look for us. As much as I wasn’t scared of PDA, I really didn’t want an audience while I was kissing my man and getting cozy with him.
It wouldn’t exactly have been a disaster because Liam wasn’t one to tell of what he saw or tease me about it. I knew without a doubt that he would have suspected that I had sex with Kevin the other day back when I was on heat while I was with the Blue River pack despite all the stress I made them go through, pretending I didn’t know them and yet didn’t give me hell for it afterwards.
He never even talked about it or acted like he knew. Liam was cool like that but I couldn’t say the same about the other guys, especially Damien. I would have started blushing immediately and given myself away if he was the one we ran into and he had suggested coming to find out.
Damien was the last person I would want to find in Kevin’s arms-not because I was ashamed but because he wouldn’t stop teasing me about it.
They were good guys but they enjoyed teasing me far too much. I still preferred Liam’s silent support and smiles.
I felt Kevin slipping his hand into mine and smiled as I turned to him.
“You are tensed again.” He offered, giving me a small smile.
I exhaled and forced myself to relax. He was getting more attuned to my moods just as I was to him. This didn’t bother me at all. It was a sign that we were bonding well. I kept on loving him everyday. It wasn’t a surprise to me that the mating bonds between us would get tighter.
Kevin must have noticed that I had gotten relaxed as he nodded subtly at me and then turned to Liam, still holding my hand but his grip wasn’t as tight as before.
“Is there a problem?”
Liam shook his head. “Not at all. I was only making a general round and noticed that the two of you were not near to be found.”
“Well done, general.” Kevin said.
Liam bowed in response. Kevin moved forward, patted him gently on the shoulder and moved away, tugging me along with him.
“Sleep beside me tonight?” He asked once we were far off from Liam as we got to where the men were all sleeping, sprawled on the ground.
Looking at the men, I didn’t want to sleep alone tonight as well. I moved closer to him and fondled his hand. “I will.”
He smiled, his eyes blazing in excitement and getting on a glow as he looked at me. “You do realize what I’m asking, right?”
I nodded. I knew.
“And you want to go through with it?”
“Yes.
He folded me into an embrace. “I love how bold you are becoming.”
“Let’s go to sleep before I change my mind.” I teased him.
“You shouldn’t ever do that.” He said, slipping his hand in mine and moving to a clear spot where we could sleep.
I knew what he was saying and why he was surprised. We used to sleep close to each other but on different camp mats and using different body coverings. What he was suggesting at the moment was that we sleep together on the same mat and use the same covering.
Knowing that I was someone who would blush if anyone saw us huddled together, I understood why he was surprised that I had agreed. I wondered why I had agreed as well. I was becoming more impulsive as I stayed closer with Kevin.
Well, I could wake up early before others did tomorrow so they wouldn’t find us wrapped around each other.
Kevin laid out the map on the ground, securing a place that had no stones. “Sleep.” He said.
I crouched down and laid in bed, watching as he laid down beside me and covered me with the cloth. I smiled as he pulled me closer to him and loved how I felt his warmth through my skin. I didn’t doubt for a second that I was going to sleep well tonight.
I didn’t wake up early the next day as I had anticipated but it was okay. I didn’t mind the subtle teasing looks that the men shot my way all day. They must have seen the two of us cuddled around each other.
I smiled to myself at the thought of the expressions that would have been on their faces when they woke up. I didn’t know what the issue was when they knew we were mates. Maybe because I was always playing hard to get.
I had slept so well that I had forgotten all about waking up early to avoid the teases from the guys. If I had known that it would be that much relaxing to sleep in Kevin’s arms, I would have suggested it earlier.
“How was your night?” Kevin asked.
With the way he was smiling at me, I believed he knew the answer already. “It was good.”
“Mine was too.”
“Should we do this tonight as well?”
I chuckled. “Are you suggesting me being in your bed tonight as well, Allen?”
He blinked at my tease and the sudden use of his last name but he quickly got over it. “I’m suggesting that you sleep in my bed forever, Moore… or should I say Allen?” He winked at me.
I gasped at his words. “You are truly a bad boy. Are you proposing without a ring and flowers, Alpha Kevin?”
He chuckled. “I’m not proposing, Luna. I’m only reminding you that you are mine.”
“You are arrogant.” I laughed.
“You love me still.” He said, caressing me on the cheek.
“I do.” I agreed.
I smiled as we moved to join the others, grateful that we had a time like this. It was good to have some time to ourselves and have fun despite how we were at the moment.
