Ella’s POV
It was time for lunch and we were all gathered around the fire, smoking marshmallows and the fishes we had caught. We weren’t sitting near the fireplace because we needed the heat. Even though we slept directly under the stars with nothing over our heads and in the cold, we weren’t affected by much. Our bodies naturally produced heat and kept us warm.
Not everyone of us had to cook as well but we made a habit of all sitting beside the fire when it was meal times so we could talk and bond more.
I chuckled to myself, wondering what the ladies at home who hated me would think if they realized that I had gotten closer to all their mates. They would almost die of a cardiac seizure.
“What is funny?” Loki who was sitting opposite me was the first to notice.
Kevin, sitting beside me, turned towards me and peered into my face and smiled as he noticed the smile on my face. “Is there something on your mind?”
I wanted to deny that nothing was funny when Loki had asked me that question but with the way Kevin had posed the question, I had to answer.
“I was thinking of home and it brought a smile to my face.” I confessed, hoping that they didn’t tell me to tell them exactly what I was thinking of.
I didn’t think they would be too pleased to find out that I was laughing at their mates.
“That’s normal.” Damien nodded his head. “We are getting closer to home. The injured ones are almost healed and fit to travel again.”
I nodded. I couldn’t wait for them to be back on their feet and it wasn’t because I wanted to be home as fast as I could. It was because I could sense always how annoyed the injured men were in the state they were and they hated themselves for being the reasons for our delayed journey.
I shook my head. Why was everyone I was traveling with the same? They were just like Kevin. Why would they blame themselves for getting hurt and making the journey delayed whenever it wasn’t their faults?
They weren’t the rogues and weren’t the reason we were still here instead of home. I had told them that severally while checking up on them as their doctor and changing their dressings but they wouldn’t ever listen. They were too stubborn.
“What is the first thing you would do when you get home?” Loki asked, throwing the question to the group.
He looked around with a smile, wondering who was going to go first but no one seemed ready to talk. I smiled, wondering why everyone seemed to be busy in thoughts as if they hadn’t thought of what they were going to do when they got home.
He turned to me. “Luna? Can you go first?”
The men seemed relieved that he had mentioned me first. I snorted. As if he wasn’t going to call them as well. I didn’t doubt that Loki would turn this into a game and everyone would get to say what was on their minds.
“I would like to have a bath first when I get home, put a lot of scent oils and powders in the tub and scrub myself so hard my skin would cry out in thanks.” I replied. “I miss having a bath.”
Loki nodded. “That is understandable.”
“Can I join you in the tub?” Kevin asked, staring at me. “I can help you scrub your back.”
“Oooh!” The men cheered.
“Alpha?” Loki asked, turning to Kevin.
“I would like to be in bed with Ella for the whole day when we get home. I want to show her how beautiful and different my room has become since she left.” Kevin replied without hesitation. He winked at me as he completed his words.
“Oooh!” The men cheered again.
I blushed, feeling my face flame up and shaking my head in amusement. I wondered if he couldn’t stop being naughty.
“You are naughty.” I shook my head at him.
“Because you are here.” He affirmed, slipping his hand in mine.
Andre chuckled as he looked at the two of us. “The two of you might need to excuse us so we don’t get too freaked out. The atmosphere is getting cringe already with love.”
Kevin laughed. “You are jealous.”
Andre laughed but didn’t deny it. “Yes, I am. After all, my mate isn’t here with me like yours is.”
Kevin looked at me. “Should we excuse the boys so they can play their game without us making them feel love starved?”
“Love starved?” Liam choked on his meal. “Now, you are being nothing but mean, my lord.”
I laughed as I stood up and extended my hand to Kevin. I was done with my food anyways and he was also done with his.
“Let’s go so the boys can have some breather.” I said.
Kevin chuckled as he stood up and slid his hand into mine. “Let’s give them a breather.” He said and we walked off with the men cackling behind us.
I wanted to know what the men would like to do when we get home but it was better that I excused them to talk among themselves because the longer we stayed with them, the more Kevin was going to make it about the two of us.
“Where are we going?” I asked.
“Somewhere private.” He replied without looking at me and looking straight ahead.
“Are you trying to be naughty?” I asked, a smile in my eyes.
He finally turned to me. “Do you want me to be naughty?”
I didn’t have an answer to that but the blush that appeared on my cheek must have told him all he needed to know because he smiled and tightened his hold on mine.
“Even if you don’t want me to be naughty, I want to. I know as a fact that I would like to kiss you again and if my men weren’t here, I would like to do so much more to you which would make you scream.”
I gulped at his words, feeling my face flame up more. I could hear my heart beating fast and knew he could hear it too.
He was going to be the death of me.
