Ella’s POV
Kevin and Liam left.
When I realized that Kevin was really expelled from the Blue River Pack by Alpha Oscar, my heart felt empty, especially the disappointment in his eyes when he last looked at me, which I found unforgettable.
“Anna, what’s wrong with you? You seem absent-minded,” Holly asks, carrying a medicine box.
“Nothing…” I say.
“No, you have something on your mind. Kevin left, are you missing him?” she asks.
I pause, my hand holding the pen trembling slightly.
“Anna, if you love Kevin, you should tell him. You’re mates, even from different packs, love can overcome everything,” Holly says with concern. “I don’t want you to regret it.”
I’m confused. Do I love Kevin?
I don’t know.
“Thank you, Holly,” I nod.
I try to focus on work again, but I find myself unable to. I don’t like lying, but I lied in front of Kevin and Holly just to avoid reality.
I hate this cowardly side of myself.
“Anna, why are you staring at me like that? Are you going to tell me something?” Holly raises an eyebrow.
I hesitate for a moment, then make up my mind. “Holly, can you come out for a moment? There’s something I need to tell you.”
“Okay,” Holly looks puzzled.
Ten minutes later, Holly and I walk out of the lab and sit down at a nearby pavilion. It’s morning, and most of the estate’s employees are working, so there are few people passing by.
“So, Anna, what do you want to tell me?”
I nervously look at Holly, then take a deep breath.
“Holly, yesterday you asked me if I was from the Blood Moon Pack. Well, I’m going to tell you now, that’s true. I’m not Anna Edwards; my real name is Ella Moore.”
“What?” she exclaims, standing up in surprise. “Wait, Anna, are you joking?”
“No, I’m not joking. I’m sorry for lying to you. Actually, I’ve known Kevin since I was very young. My mother used to be his Beta. Five years ago, after my mother was killed by Rogues, I left the Blood Moon Pack. By coincidence, I was taken in by Camila and have been living here ever since, replacing her granddaughter.”
My expression is serious, recalling the past isn’t easy.
Holly stares at me wide-eyed for about three minutes, then lets out an exaggerated gasp.
“Oh my, Anna, no, Ella, you really surprised me. Living someone else’s life sounds too cool,” she says, then covers her mouth, looks around, and lowers her voice, “Oh, sorry, I mean, I’m really sorry to hear about your experience. Thank you for trusting me and telling me all this. You know, I don’t care who you are; I consider you my best friend.”
“I know, that’s why I cherish our friendship,” I smile, feeling a lot lighter after being honest.
“Me too,” she winks playfully, “So why don’t you accept Kevin? He came here for you, right?”
I fall silent, not knowing where to start explaining.
“Sorry, Ella, you don’t have to force yourself. Tell me when you’re ready. But I have one request, please face your feelings squarely,” she says, placing her hands on my shoulders and looking deeply into my eyes. “We haven’t known each other for long, but I can tell that you’re a very introspective she-wolf. You don’t care about anything other than herbs on normal days, but Kevin seems to easily influence you. He must be important to you.”
I pause, remembering the scene where I rejected leaving with Kevin. “But I seem to have done something wrong; I hurt him…”
Even before he left, I didn’t even ask him and Luke what happened. With my intuition, I can tell he’s definitely not someone who acts impulsively and casually hurts others.
“It’s okay, sweetheart,” Holly hugs me. “He surely won’t mind. As long as you apologize to him, he will definitely forgive you.”
Later in the afternoon, I took leave with Dr. Helena to go to Luna Manor to find Luke.
“Hi, Omega, oh no, maybe I should call you Ella Moore,” Luke sits in his wheelchair, teasingly staring at me.
“You know my true identity?” I furrow my brows.
He crosses his arms and casually whistles, “Of course, I’m smart enough. Investigating a small-town doctor like you isn’t difficult. So, what did you come to find me for? For your mate?”
He seems very pleased with himself, and his smug demeanor disgusts me a bit.
“You know why I came to find you. What happened between you and Kevin?”
“Huh, do you care about him? Let me think, that was an interesting drama, but unfortunately, I got involved,” Luke taps his prosthetic leg, then resumes his playful demeanor. “But your mate couldn’t hold back his temper, I just threatened him with your identity to make him break the mate bond with you He couldn’t control himself and went crazy. Now he’s permanently expelled from the Blue River Pack by my father. He deserves it.”
“Luke, have you gone mad? How dare you do this?”
He clearly knew I was Kevin’s mate and marked by him, yet he chose to threaten Kevin in this extreme way. This behavior is nothing short of humiliating Kevin, no wonder he lost control.
“Why can’t I do this?” he grits his teeth. “From childhood to adulthood, no one can defy me. And you and Kevin have embarrassed me time and again, Omega. I chose you; I want you to be mine.”
“You’re damn insane, Luke. I must warn you, I don’t like you. Don’t you dare bother me again.” I glare at him, Luke, the pervert, the selfish and arrogant jerk!
“Omega, don’t pretend to be innocent. Didn’t you also reject Kevin? You’d rather lie to stay here, showing you don’t love him,” Luke stares me down, laughing wildly.
I feel extremely upset. Kevin and Liam were expelled from the Blue River Pack because of me. Under Luke’s provocation, I still chose to stay in the Blue River Pack. Kevin must be very disappointed in me.
