Ella’s POV
I thought I had made myself clear to Kevin, but when he and his Beta showed up at my lab door the next day, I felt really annoyed.
“Good morning, Anna,”
“Good morning, Holly,” I absentmindedly greeted.
Holly bumped my shoulder and whispered, “Look at those two handsome male wolves outside the window, especially the one in the black trench coat with blue eyes. He’s so drool-worthy. They’ve been lingering outside the door. Could they be looking for one of our lab’s female wolves?”
“Uh, I’m not sure,” I said, feeling uneasy.
Just ten minutes ago, I saw Kevin and Liam trailing behind me, and when they were about to catch up, I quickly got into the lab and shut the door, keeping them out.
The nerve of this guy, following me to work.
“And just now as I passed them, I noticed they were carrying a basket with sandwiches, pastries, and milk.”
Me: …
“Oh, Anna, look, they seem to be eyeing you.”
“That, that must be your imagination. I don’t know them,” I denied, controlling myself not to look at the intense stares coming from outside the window. I returned to my workstation, hoping Kevin would understand that I didn’t want to engage with him and then leave.
However, the female wolves showed unusually curious behavior, starting to whisper among themselves.
“Wow, look at those two male wolves outside the window. They’re really handsome, but they seem unfamiliar. Do you know them?”
“Ummm, no, I don’t. Look at what they’re carrying. It’s the first time I’ve seen men bringing heartwarming breakfast. Could they be pursuing one of us female wolves?”
“Probably boyfriends.”
The female wolves laughed.
I awkwardly buried my head in my notebook, avoiding the gossiping gazes from the female wolves around me.
“That blue-eyed guy is really sexy. With my 24 years of experience in picking men, his aura is outstanding, and his status is definitely not ordinary. Whoever’s boyfriend he is, please come out and claim him, or else we’ll snatch him away,” Holly exclaimed loudly.
I felt even more embarrassed.
Outside the lab window, through the glass, Kevin was talking to Liam. When he caught my gaze, he coincidentally shifted his line of sight, and we locked eyes, startling me.
I was just contemplating whether to hide when three minutes later, he and Liam came in.
“Good morning, Dr. Helena, and all the beautiful ladies,” Kevin gallantly bowed and greeted my colleagues, confident and polite.
“I am Kevin Allen, Alpha of the Blood Moon Pack, and this is my Beta, Liam.”
“Hello,” Liam also bowed.
“Oh, they’re from the Blood Moon Pack?” The female wolves in the lab started buzzing.
“I heard the werewolves of the Blood Moon Pack are very strong and good at fighting, rough and rude.”
“Yes, but their Alpha is such a handsome gentleman.”
“Alpha Kevin, our pack and your Blood Moon Pack haven’t had close dealings for a hundred years, so what is the purpose of your visit to our lab?” Dr. Helena shook hands with Kevin, her tone devoid of emotion.
“Nice to meet you, Helena Robinson, I’ve heard many great things about you from my father. The legendary genius surgeon, you’ve been the idol of many young physicians in the Blood Moon Pack for years,” Kevin said, radiating a charming smile, beginning to flaunt his playboy social nature.
Dr. Helena was immediately captivated by Kevin’s harmless flattery, shyly shaking her head, “I’m not as skilled as you say, I’m just an ordinary old doctor.”
“You’re really modest,” Kevin chuckled, then glanced at me, “I don’t have anything special to do here either. Recently, I’ve reached a preliminary cooperation with your Alpha, Oscar. I came here just to meet my mate. Those breakfasts were prepared by my Beta for you as a small gesture, and besides, I’ve prepared some gifts…”
Kevin clapped his hands, and more than a dozen strong male wolves came in from outside, carrying eight pieces of equipment.
“These devices are the latest medical equipment released by humans. I hope they can provide some convenience for your work.”
Among the eight devices were X-ray machines, CT scanners, endoscopes, minimally invasive surgical equipment, life support and monitoring devices, which were highly valuable and were exactly what Dr. Helena had been wanting to introduce.
“Wow, the Alpha of the Blood Moon Pack is really wealthy. This one piece of equipment is worth $500, 000. Dr. Helena applied to introduce new equipment two months ago, but Clara’s feedback was that Luna Manor is currently tight on finances and doesn’t have enough funds temporarily. Yet he just suddenly brought eight.”
“Who is lucky enough to become the mate of this young and wealthy Alpha?”
The female wolves whispered among themselves, casting fiery gazes towards Kevin.
Kevin was accustomed to women’s attention since childhood, so he calmly smiled at the girls, who shyly covered their faces.
Dr. Helena’s eyes showed admiration, “Thank you, Alpha Kevin. I’m glad you have reached cooperation with the Blue River Pack. If I may ask, who is your mate?”
When Dr. Helena asked this question, I stiffened as I pretended to study my notes.
“Anna, Anna Edwards, is my mate.”
When I heard Kevin’s magnetic voice say my fake name, my head almost exploded.
Oh no, now I’m really becoming the subject of gossip in the Blue River Pack.
Kevin walked up to me, moved the notebook away from my head, “Hey, sweetheart, we finally meet again.”
His blue eyes revealed a playful satisfaction.
I glared at him.
“Oh, Anna is Alpha Kevin’s mate?!”
All the female wolves looked at me with surprise and envy, and I felt so embarrassed that I almost wanted to find a hole to hide in.
“Anna, are you really his mate?” Holly asked, displeased that I lied just now.
Being publicly announced by Kevin, I had to nod and admit it.
“Sorry, Holly, I didn’t tell you the truth just now.”
But Kevin patted my head in front of everyone and politely said to Holly, “Please don’t mind. Maybe I pursued Anna too aggressively, causing her to have to conceal it. It’s my fault.”
“Oh, I see.” Holly was stunned, then winked ambiguously at me.
I kept my head down, while Kevin became bolder, seeming to enjoy the judgment of him and me by everyone present.
“Anna is my mate. Thank you all for taking care of her at work. As the Alpha of the Blood Moon Pack, I will always remember your help to my future Luna. I fell in love with Anna at first sight. I’m sorry for disturbing your work today, and I’m glad to meet you all. I hope that during my time here with the Blue River Pack, you will take care of her.”
I gritted my teeth, unwilling to accept that Dr. Helena and my colleagues were deceived by Kevin’s false gentlemanly appearance.
