Ryan’s pov:
I slammed the door forcefully behind me, as I walked inside my study with anger and fury. I left to calm myself down, I know how much I battled to control myself from snapping my mother’s head right there. Despite everything, she is my mother. I couldn’t have talked to her in that manner but the girl in question was my MATE!
I sighed when pacing around to know if I could be able to calm my nerves, Ethan is outraged and I am finding it difficult to control him. Not only Ethan was angered, but I was also losing my cool when my mother was vomiting those harsh words and spitting them at my mate. The girl that I have longed to have in my arms, the one that I had waited throughout my life to cross paths with.
Speaking of her, I wonder what she is doing…… Where is she? Ruffling my hair, I grumbled “Only God knows what my mother has done to her,” I couldn’t have left her all alone there at the mercy of my mother. I know how hard and harsh she could be sometimes.
How am I to tell my mother that I am mated to the supposed girl? The amount of hatred that I saw in my mother’s eyes was too dangerous, the way she stares at the girl with venom and condemnation had me concerned. She stares at her with nothing but pure hatred, did they know each other somewhere before? Have they crossed paths or bumped each other in the past that I have no idea about? Because the resentment and bitterness in her eyes and words were enough to slash someone to death.
I am in a dilemma, what am I to do? Ashley doesn’t even want a mate, she threatened to reject any mate that crosses her path and I am scared. I don’t want her to reject us before we could even start and with how things are going right now, rejecting this bond won’t be a hard thing for her to do. Why does the word mate frighten her?
The word makes her uncomfortable, nobody in this realm doesn’t want to have a mate. Why is her own so different? What is wrong with her having a mate? Why does the word mate affect her in some kind of way? These are the things that I need to find out about her, this is the reason why she suppressed her wolf and hate anything concerning her mate.
“But I want her so bad, her absence is hurting me so hard……..
“But she doesn’t feel anything for me, she doesn’t have a wolf! She doesn’t know that we are mates!”
“The way that she distances herself away from me, breaks my heart…… How long am I going to put up with that? The pain of your mate not recognizing you and your wolf!” With anger, I slammed a nearby glass tumbler on my desk at the wall.
“Ryan, buddy!” The door was pulled open as Liam sped in while screaming my name.
“Ryan! Ryan!” He kept screaming when scanning the whole place.
“You can stop screaming, I am here,” I coldly snapped.
“What happened?” He scanned my body looking for what I didn’t know.
“Excuse me,” I arched my eyebrow.
“I heard a sound, like breaking stuff slammed at the wall,” he said when still scanning and touching me to know if I got injured.
“And!” I squatted his hand away.
“What did you break?” I stared beside me and he followed the direction of my eyes before they widened in shock. “You broke that…?”
Turning around, I ignored him, “Why are you here?”
“I came as soon as I heard the sound of the breaking…….
” Liam!” I called, “Don’t you dare lie to me,” I warned.
He sighed before scratching his neck “Fine, I came to check on you,” he confessed.
“As a child or what,” I taunt with anger visible in my tone.
“You are my buddy, Ryan…….. So I have the full right to check up on you,” he defends.
“Why did you leave the girl all alone with my mother?”
“The girl,” he murmured confused, “Wait!…” He loudly exclaimed.
“You mean the girl that you walked in with?” He asked annoying me, how can he act like he doesn’t know who I am talking about?
“Which other girl will I be talking about if not Ashley,” I snarled annoyed.
“Sorry, calm down,” he slowly raised his hand.
“But I am sure that she is okay with the queen mother,” he sounds unsure, earning an angry smirk across my lips.
“You sound unsure of your words,” turning around, I glared at him looking stern and cold. He shifted slightly, surprised at my attitude. I am always soft and sweet with him and my sudden behavior surprises him, this is the fact that I do put on outside and around people apart from him, my mother, and of course Bianca.
“What’s going on here?” He sounds scared and confused at the same time.
“I asked you a question, Liam,” I uttered.
“What is wrong with you, Ryan?” He bewilderingly questioned.
“Don’t answer my question with another question!!” I lashed out at him causing him to quickly distanced himself from me and backed away from me.
“Please, calm Ethan down,” with a terrified look, he pleas.
“Why did you leave her all alone?” I repeat the question.
“Your…… your mother requests I come to check on you,” he mumbled with a watchful gaze.
“And you left her and came looking for me,” I barked.
“But you never instructed me to look after her and you know how your mother behaves at times especially when she is pissed,” he professed.
“And,” I drawled.
“You left angrily and I thought that it was best to come to check on you because you have never looked this piss before,” he ratified his words despite how angry I looked but he was telling the truth. He couldn’t do enough, especially with my mother’s presence. I wasn’t supposed to transfer my aggression to him, he did no wrong though my anger still fumes but he isn’t at fault here. His only crime was caring for me.
And I am not going to take his kind gesture for granted, is not every day you see a loyal subject. I am to focus more on how to make my mate accept this bond and also concentrate on how to trap that mystery wolf……….. My mate has already been traumatized by what happened earlier in the woods and I won’t allow the mystery cursed wolf to affect her also. She is dear to me, and I will strive everything to ensure that I kill that beast!
