Book:The Cursed She-Wolf Published:2025-4-7

Juliana’s pov:
My heart sank as my throat jumped inside my stomach within a twinkle of an eye. I had my eyes popped out from their socket, he gritted his teeth in anger not paying attention to my sudden behavior. His full scrutiny was focused on his mother, his facial expression doesn’t even seem to flitter her, she still has her no-nonsense look on.
“He is the king,” I didn’t care about the bickering going on between Ryan and his mother, I pondered on the issue that still has me restless. The idea of Ryan being the king fears me and getting close to him is one scary thing because it will surely lead to my doom. He is not good for me and I know that whatever I feel for him is lust and nothing serious. His mother was right, I am nothing and don’t exist and that’s how I want my stay here to be like. I want to be invisible to the extent that no one will have any idea that I exist.
He was angry to the extent of letting his Lycan out, the elderly men shifted to the other standpoint with a scared expression gripped on their faces. Only Liam was striving to calm the outraged Lycan down, my heart twists as I stared at them. This is all my fault! Why did I come close to him? I couldn’t have allowed him to take me to this pack in the first place.
Why did I always end up bringing misfortune to others and anybody that inches closer to me? I thought that after this new change that everything won’t remain the same but I was only hallucinating because the scene in front of me is deeply breaking and ripping my bones part by part. But my surprise was that despite how alarming and horrifying Ryan looked, his mother was unnerved. She didn’t even look shaken by the whole thing which confused me.
“Who is this woman?” I murmured.
“How can you act senseless because of a non-existence creature?” Queen Rebecca said calmly but there was a hint of disappointment and anger in her voice.
“She is Ashley! She has a name,” Ryan thundered, startling every single soul.
“Sorry, my pardon!” She faked an apology. “I didn’t know a thing like that has a name,” she stressed the words with a wicked smirk on her lips.
“Mom!” Ryan warned.
“So bad, you stoop yourself so low to defend this worthless being,” she sounds irritated.
“She is an omega and to the extent of not having any wolf,”
“She is better off a human than a werewolf occupying the unavailable space,” she said in between a grit of teeth.
“When did you start discriminating omegas from others in this pack? I made a strict rule for such things not to repeat themselves and for equal treatment to every single creature but why do you that have the royal blood in your vein speak ill of her and at the same time break the rules…………. The queen mother to make use of such words,” he finished in one go as anger and disdain flashed across his face. Hardening his expression, his chilling eyes were fixed on his mother.
“You dare raise your voice at me because of this….” She pointed at me with a look of contempt and disgust.
“But you……..
” No, but…!” She snapped before Ryan could utter a word, closing his eyes with his hands curled in a fist. I watched as the lump in his throat moved up and down, it seemed like he was trying to control his Lycan. I had fears in my eyes as I felt his eyes snap open, scaring the shit out of me. They are terrifying and look dreadful, not like the normal almond black color that always had me in one spot. This time they looked spooked and dreadful. He glares at his mother.
“You have to calm down,” Liam’s words got stuck at the tip of his tongue as he didn’t get to finish it with how frightened he looked. Ryan spares him a dangerous look, giving me a quick glimpse as he strolled out of the room. The atmosphere calmed a bit, I released my breath but the stern and chilling eyes of queen Rebecca still bores at the back of my head.
“Who are you?” Her chilled voice terrified me.
“I….. I…. Am Ashley,” I answered with unease.
“And?” She grumbled.
“Hmmm,” I seemed lost at her choice of words.
“And what gave you the impression that I care about your so-called name?”
I raised my eyes in confusion, the so-called woman asked me my name not quite a time ago now…… so what does she mean by that she doesn’t care when actually she initiated the question in the first place or is she bipolar?
“I asked you a question! You dumb trash,” she drawled the last word with venom.
“Hmm…. I mean
” Hmmm, kill you there……” she cuts in
“What a nuisance?” She stared around with an unsettled expression. She glanced around with anger and bitterness, I am freaking out inside. “Go check on Ryan, do I have to remind you of your duty!!” She yelled at Liam who sped out of the place in a flash.
The elderly men quickly walk out of the place as their eyes connected with those fierce and harsh eyes of hers. I swallowed nervously as I sensed that I was the only person inside with her and the other four guards. I scarily fiddled with my cloth with my head lowered, I fear to stare at those dreadful eyes.
“Where is Margaret!!” She loudly exclaimed.
“I am asking you, RASCALS!!” she screeched at the guards standing in the room, they flinched before one of them spoke up.
“We don’t have any idea, Queen mother,”
“What nonsense was that!”
“Go and drag her here, you idiot,” she yells. The guard strode instantly out of the room, not sooner than the guard ran out. The door was pulled open revealing a woman in her fifties. She wore a maid uniform and if I am not mistaken I am damn sure that she is named Margaret.
“You called my queen,” she bowed submissively.
With her back on us, she uttered “What took you so long?”
My eyes arched up, like what does she mean by what took you long? This woman arrived here as soon as she was summoned by her, why does she like unnecessary issues?
“My queen, I came as soon as I received your call,” she calmly muttered with her head still lowered.
“What are you doing?” Her cold chilling voice echoed throughout the whole place, frightening me. I think that not only I was affected by the atmosphere because the tension among every single soul here can’t be mistaken.
“I am slicing some vegetables, Queen mother,” she shortly replied.
“Good!” Despite her back on us, from the tone of her voice, one could notice the evil smirk on her lips. What is she up to this time around?
“You see that trash beside you, looking like a wrecked being,” she foul-mouthed, her words hit me so hard.
“Yes!” The woman muttered as she raised her head and stared in my direction. A disgusted look and curiosity flashed across her eyes, I swallowed and looked away. I don’t know that an old woman can also act abnormally toward someone that is like a child to her in that sinful manner.
“Great!” She chipped in.
“I need you to direct her on what and what to be doing in this pack,”
“She is a new maid and will be under you,”
“Do you hear?” She voiced, earning a nod from Margaret.
“I asked you a question, blockhead,” she growled.
“Yes…… queen mother,” nodding her head, she stammered.
“She will be given the worst place to sleep, before she eats my permission will be required……” she snarled.
“Okay, queen mother,” Margaret nodded.
“Now, take that fool out of here!!
” You two fools should leave my sight before I slash your throats,” she threatened.
Margaret was the first to run out of the room, with a heavy and drained expression I walked out. It seems like my stay here wasn’t going to be a pleasant one but no matter what I have to always bear in mind to do anything to avoid that evil woman**Queen, Rebecca!!
