Chapter 136

Logan’s POV.
“And… Now I wonder what exactly they are up to!!” Owen shrugged as he turned to us.
“Not letting us in? Calling whoever they want to have a little talk with? That sounds like a plan.” He said further.
“They should be worried. They should!” I said as I walked back to the dining table that could contain the entire founding families.
“So, why haven’t you contacted Alicia? It’s been almost a week now.” Jack asked me as the rest joined us in the dining.
“Like I said, I don’t want to bring her into all these!!” I repeated again.
“But don’t you feel she will only feel stupid? Like… you dumped her or something?” Patricia muttered as she ordered one of the servants to prepare coffee for her.
“Our families? We have a lot of secrets to hide. That scoundrel attacked me, he fuckin’ broke my head with a baRexall bat and you know what? When I find him, when will he eventually pay for all these? I will make sure I steal a moment, just a moment, no matter how little it might be to break his head with a baseball bat.” I cursed angrily at the thought of it.
“If he knows I am into Alicia, then he might try harming her just to get to me. I wouldn’t want that.” I shrugged as I looked at Jack.
“Oh, come on! When did you start caring so much?” Owen scowled as he rolled his eyes.
I turned to Owen. “I love her, okay!” I finally admitted.
I couldn’t keep hoping to be with Helen. She had mentioned times without numbers that she never felt more than friendship for me.
She was the reason I rejected my mate but then, when I first met Alicia, I felt my world folding up and then, I still had this strong desire to rule someday but right now, all I cared about was making sure that no harm came near her and if it meant losing the one throne I cared about? Then I would happily do that.”
“It sounds good knowing that you have finally fallen in love.” Helen said as she raised her eyebrows as she looked at me.
I exhaled heavily as I looked at her.
“We have a lot to worry about guys!!” Peterson snapped as he dropped his legs on the dining table before bringing out his cigarette.
“Don’t you guys ever get tired of talking about love?” He scowled as he lighted his cigarette, puffing out smoke as he returned his lighter back inside his coat.
“We have a Collins’ issue to handle and also, your superhero uncle who is currently Collins’ friend.” Peterson snapped as he forced out a smile before wearing his straight face again.
“Isn’t it so much of a coincidence that your uncle and Collins Morgan made their way back to New Kingston in the same month?” Peterson said as he relapsed on the dining chair.
“Or what if?” He said before stopping half way as he looked at us one after the other. “Just… What if?” He said again, placing emphasis on the “What if”.
“He is here to take over the founders’ committee of werewolves?”
Peterson said as he looked at us. He chuckled softly as he saw how lost we were.
“What… What do you mean by “Founders’ Committee of Werewolves?” I questioned as I furrowed my eyebrows this time around as I stared at him.
“You see? That is it, lads!!”
He plainly called us lads as he looked at me, Owen, Jack and Patricia.
He turned to Helen afterwards before turning to the four of us again.
“Our parents aren’t interested in protecting us because we are their kids, okay? They want to protect the committee. Liam knew better but then, he was fucking killed.” Peterson tilted his lips as he looked right into my eyes.
I couldn’t help but wear a straight face as questions bombarded my head right that moment.
“Why is he staring right into my eyes now?”
“What does he know about Liam’s death?”
“Who has he been communicating with?”
I furrowed my eyebrows as I looked at him as he threw his cigarette to the floor before crushing it with his shoe.
“Whoever leads the committee controls the entire werewolves and if it falls to the wrong faction of werewolves, then everything we have will come crashing down. This isn’t just about us, Logan.” Peterson said in a husky voice as he walked down to where I sat down.
“You are the youngest here, followed by Owen, Jack, Tricia, Helen and then me, being the oldest since your brother, Liam is no more!!” He shrugged in a cold voice.
“Your father is currently the head of the committee, as are our parents too. It is a committee of six powerful families and not about who the founding werewolves’ families are.” He snapped before returning to his seat.
“So, I think we have a bigger puzzle to solve here than just thinking about Collins Morgan.” He said as he sat down.
“What do you mean by a committee of six?”
I questioned as I furrowed my eyebrows. I saw the patterns now and then, I couldn’t help but groan inwardly at the realization.
“Werewolf Factions?”
“Committee of Six?”
“Founding families?”
They kept echoing in my head over and over again. And the more it echoed, the better I understood that the founding families were only a werewolf faction and they were able to gain control over the committee of werewolves which made them feared by all werewolves.
“How long have you known this?” I snapped as I couldn’t control the frustration I felt right that moment.
“All my life, Logan!!” He said in a cold voice as he looked at me.
I could hear so much emphasis he placed on my name.
“Can you two not start now!!” Helen snapped as she got up from where she sat down as she kept staring at the both of us.
