Tilda stood up from her chair, feeling her legs go weak.
She thought this must be how it felt when a criminal went to the gallows!
Carefully pushing open the door, she saw the same female doctor inside.
“Miss Wales, right?” the doctor asked.
“Yes.” Tilda nodded, It was rare for her to be this obedient.
The doctor retrieved Tilda’s test results from the computer and looked at it for a while.
It was only a few seconds, but Tilda felt like it had been a century!
Then, she heard the doctor say, “You… should be pregnant.”
Tilda froze.
“Based on what I see now, it’s still early. Your HCG levels aren’t very high yet, but they are increasing.” The doctor looked up at her. “Go back and discuss it with your family, then come back and make a decision.”
Tilda remained silent.
“Miss Wales?” The doctor called her name again.
Tilda snapped out of her daze. “I’m sorry… I was lost in thought! Did you say I’m pregnant?”
“Yes, based on your blood test, yes. But we haven’t seen anything on the ultrasound yet, which means you’re in the first trimester of pregnancy. It’s perfect timing for you to go back and discuss it with your family,” the doctor explained.
“Okay, thank you.”
Tilda stood up. She was so nervous that she bumped her leg against the corner of the table.
It hurt so much that she immediately grimaced.
“Are you okay?” The doctor quickly stood up and checked on her.
Tilda waved her hand. “No, it’s nothing! Thank you, Doctor.”
She quickly left the consultation room and stood at the door, unable to move because her legs were weak.
What kind of ridiculous plot was this now?!
They broke up and now she found out she was pregnant. This was just too ridiculous!
Tilda never dreamed that something like this would happen to her one day. Even though she had thought about this possibility many times on her way here, being told she was pregnant still shocked her.
Suddenly…
The phone in her bag rang.
Tilda checked it and saw that it was Johnny calling.
He really knew how to pick the right time to call.
Just as Tilda took a deep breath wondering if she answered it, the ringing stopped.
Maybe Johnny was also conflicted. He might have thought that she didn’t want to answer his call.
She hesitated for a moment and then found his number to call him back when Johnny called again.
This time, Tilda immediately pressed the answer button.
Perhaps because Johnny didn’t expect her to pick up so quickly, he was at a loss for words.
“Say something! You called me and now you’re not saying anything?” Tilda urged him.
“Um… well, Tilda, there’s something I want to tell you. Can you see me one last time?” Johnny felt that he had to tell her the truth.
Even though they had broken up, he wanted to explain everything to her so that she would know what had happened. After all, she was still Rosalind’s best friend, and they might still have opportunities to meet in the future. Besides…
He really didn’t like this feeling of lying and avoiding things. It weighed heavily on his heart.
“Okay,” Tilda agreed directly. “Perfect timing because I have something to tell you too.”
Johnny instinctively asked, “What is it?”
“Let’s talk when we meet. Where are you?”
“I’m at Central Union Hospital.”
Tilda pursed her lips. “I’m here too. Let’s meet at the outpatient department.”
“Alright.”
After hanging up the phone, Tilda slapped her forehead with force.
She wondered if forgiving Johnny so easily would make him not appreciate her in the future. She had been so resolute when they broke up, but now…
