Aileen
“No, I’m not,” I replied, backing away from him. “Now, if you are done with your questions, can you move out of the way? I’m waiting for someone.”
“Waiting for someone?” His brows raised in suspicion, as he walked closer to me, “Oh, who’s that? If you are waiting outside the changing room, then it must mean you are here for someone from our team, right? Who’s it? Kevin, Blake, or is it me?”
“Definitely not you!” I retorted, ending up facing my back against the wall.
I tried to escape but he kept his hands at my sides, caging me in.
I glared at him in response. “This isn’t funny.”
“Hm…maybe not for you, but for me maybe,” he snickered, observing my features. “Now, that I look at you, you are kinda cute. Do you want to go out with me? And to be clear, I’m being humble here by asking you out. I only ask out the pretty girls. Not everybody can catch my eyes.”
The way he’s talking, he thinks highly of himself. But, how did he believe I was going to date him just because of his wishes?
“Thanks for your interest in me. I’m not flattered to receive your offer. We can be friends if you want to, though,” I said, holding out my hand towards him.
His smile turned sour the very instant, leaving an irritated expression.
“Are you playing with me? I’m being serious here,” he growled, glaring at me. His face was very close when he spoke.
“I’m serious as well,” I replied, “I’d like to be friends if you want to. But, if you don’t want to, please get out of my way. I’m waiting for someone.”
“Listen missy, I don’t care whether you are the Alpha’s daughter or not. There’s no way you can walk out of here so casually after rejecting me like that,” he stated, grabbing me by the arm.
Why’s he being so forceful towards me? What have I done to him anyway?
“And why can’t I do that?” I asked, maintaining my eye contact and refusing to back down. “Who are you? Some rich brat? And even if you are, why should I care about it? I’m here for something, not to entertain you. So, get out of here, or else I’ll be forced to shout for help.”
“Who the hell are you here for anyway?” he yelled, gripping onto my arm tightly enough to cause a bruise.
“I think she’s here for me,” a voice interrupts, drawing our attention.
We looked towards the source of the voice. Skylar stood a few inches away from us with his hands in his pockets.
“Skylar!”
“She’s here for you?” the boy in front of me asked, glancing back at me. The confusion in his tone could be felt very well.
“Yes, so, back away Ross?” Skylar asked, walking over to our side.
The boy backed away, withdrawing his hands the very minute.
“I didn’t know she’s your girl man. Sorry for talking to her like that,” he apologized, looking at Skylar.
“It’s okay and she’s my friend only, not my girl,” Skylar cleared up the misunderstanding. “And please, don’t talk with any girl like that. It’s rude.”
“Rude? Oh, uh, sure. I’ll keep that in mind,” he stuttered, glancing at me, “Sorry, excuse me.”
He left from our side the very minute as if running with his tail between his legs.
Loser….
“Are you alright? Did he pull any funny tricks on you?” Skylar asked, trying to comfort me with his smile.
“Uh, no, I’m alright. Thanks for arriving on time. Or else your friend was starting to get violent with each passing minute.”
“I’m sorry. Some of the guys in my team are like that. But, there’s really nothing I can do here unless they try to change themselves. People think and act differently regardless of how you think.”
“I…understand. No need to say sorry for them.”
It’s not like it’s his fault anyway.
“So, why are you here to see me?” he asked, seeming a bit curious.
“Me? Oh, to congratulate you,” I replied, holding out my hand, “I don’t know about the game that much. So, I’m not a good judge or anything. But, from what I assured, it was really a good game. You did great.”
“As I thought,” he smiled, shaking my hand.
“As you thought?” I inquired.
“Yeah, you were too embarrassed or shy to come out to congratulate me in the crowd. That’s why I thought you must be coming to see me after everyone is gone. And I was right about it.” he chuckled.
What?
“You know me so well…..” I replied, feeling a bit self-conscious.
“Nah, you are just like an open book,” he added, “Anyway, I am really happy that you came to see me. It made me happy. Thank you, Aileen.”
“You are welcome. But, can I ask you something?”
“Sure.”
“Well…it’s nothing serious. But, when you were receiving the medal, by any chance did you see me among the crowd?”
